Becoming a man is developmental. Boys model after men in their lives as well as figures they see in the media. When role models are positive, appropriate, and present, boys grow into constructive adults who contribute to society. This article examines how counselors can intentionally help young men mature into well‐grounded and prosocial individuals through the use of models in films. Zn1???xCoxO (ZC) [x?=?0, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9?mol%] thin films were prepared by sol–gel combined metallo-organic decomposition method. The films were deposited on the Si substrate with spin-coating technique and annealed at 600?°C for 3?h. X-ray diffraction pattern shows the formation hexagonal wurtzite phase and distortion (c/a) decreases with increasing Co concentration in ZnO. The average grain size is measured using Scherer relation. Atomic force microscopy is used to confirm the formation of nanograins resulted by the use of polyethylene glycol as surfactant. The photoluminescence was recorded by using He-Cd laser of excitation wavelength 325?nm in wavelength region of 350–650?nm which exhibits some influence of Co doping on the multiplication of defects such as O vacancies, Zn interstitials and grain boundary defects. All thin films show room temperature ferromagnetism except pure ZnO which is diamagnetic and 9?mol% of Co shows paramagnetism. This behaviour is interpreted as due to fluctuations in the magnetic ordering, depending on grain size and site location in grain boundaries or oxygen vacancies.  相似文献

A key challenge in the fabrication of superhard nanocomposite films is how to control the distribution of grain sizes in these materials. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy has been used to measure nanograin-size distributions in the Ti–B–N films with various B contents. The results show that the mean grain size decreases with increase of B content and the grain-size distribution conforms to a log-normal function when the hardness approaches a maximum value. The transition from normal to log-normal distributions can be determined by analysis in terms of a minimum information criterion. The origin of a log-normal size distribution probably results from heterogeneity arising from a diffusion-drift process.  相似文献

Carbon nanotubes have been intensively studied owing to their great potential in nanoelectronics and nanomechanical devices. Recently, experimental results have shown that single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) change their electronic properties when subjected to strain. In this study, the electromechanical characteristics of SWCNT networks were investigated for the application of printable strain sensors on flexible substrates. SWCNT films were formed on plastic substrates of poly(ethylene terephthalate) using a spray process. In this manner, we were able to control the transparency and obtain uniform electrical properties of the films. The films are isotropic on account of the random orientation of bundles of SWCNTs. Experimental results showed a nearly linear change in the resistance across a film when it was subjected to tensile strain, even in the inelastic range of the flexible substrate. The results demonstrate the potential use of SWCNT films for highly sensitive printable strain sensors on a macroscale.  相似文献

Recent events have underlined in the most tragic and dramatic way the need for depth psychology to turn its attention to the psychology of terror. The present paper attempts to distinguish between the psychological modes of horror and terror and explores the different theoretical approaches of Burke, Freud, Kristeva and Jung to this problem in order to cast light on the individual and collective functions that horror and terror play. While all these authors stress that terror and horror play a role in structuring the sense of identity and in strengthening community bonds, Freud and Kristeva believe that the experience of horror works to increase the exclusion of otherness through mechanisms of repression or foreclosure while Burke and Jung see in the encounter with the Negative Sublime or with the Shadow the possibility of widening the boundaries of ego consciousness and of integration of 'otherness'. The paper then uses the analysis of two horror movies and of a particular socio-cultural context to illustrate these different functions of horror and terror and to delineate possible solutions to the problems facing society.  相似文献

Cobalt porphyrazine thin films were prepared by the spin-coating technique. The coated substrates were annealed at different temperatures (373, 423 and 523 K). The optical properties of the films were investigated by measuring the transmittance and reflectance spectra. The refractive index, extinction coefficient, optical band gap, dielectric constant values and thickness of the films were determined. Results showed that the refractive index, the extinction coefficient and the dielectric constants increased on annealing the films at 373 K in comparison with films annealed at other temperatures. On the other hand, the values of the band gap energy and thickness of the annealed film at 373 K were found to be the lowest in comparison with films annealed at different temperatures.  相似文献

Vanadium oxide films, deposited on aluminium (Al), titanium (Ti) and tantalum (Ta) metal substrates by pulsed RF magnetron sputtering at a working pressure of 1.5 x10?2 mbar at room temperature are found to display mixed crystalline vanadium oxide phases viz., VO2, V2O3, V2O5. The films have been characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and their thermo-optical and electrical properties have been investigated. Studies of the deposited films by DSC have revealed a reversible-phase transition found in the temperature range of 45–49 °C.  相似文献

The relative strain normal to the crystal planes in Cu thin films has been experimentally measured using grazing incidence X-ray diffraction. This was performed by measuring the ratio of the strain exerted in the same specific (hkl) crystal plane parallel and perpendicular to the film surface. The strain ratios of the (1?1?1), (2?0?0), (2?2?0) and (3?0?0) planes were found to be –0.804, –1.324, –1.003, and –1.369, respectively. These values are within experimental error of those calculated theoretically under the assumptions of plane stress conditions.  相似文献

The work of adhesion between a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer film and a flat diamond tip was measured by instrumented indentation. The results showed that the apparent work of adhesion between the tip and the PDMS film increases with increasing dwell time and retreating velocity; on the other hand, the indentation depth has no significant effect on adhesion. The indentation experiment was analysed with viscoelastic finite element simulations with rate-dependent cohesive elements, from which the time evolution of adhesion was quantitatively implemented into a rate-dependent cohesive-zone law.  相似文献
