Dialetheism and the Impossibility of the World

This paper first offers a standard modal extension of dialetheic logics that respect the normal semantics for negation and conjunction, in an attempt to adequately model absolutism, the thesis that there are true contradictions at metaphysically possible worlds. It is shown, however, that the modal extension has unsavoury consequences for both absolutism and dialetheism. While the logic commits the absolutist to dialetheism, it commits the dialetheist to the impossibility of the actual world. A new modal logic AV is then proposed which avoids these unsavoury consequences by invalidating the interdefinability rules for the modal operators with the use of two valuation relations. However, while using AV carries no significant cost for the absolutist, the same isn't true for the dialetheist. Although using AV allows her to avoid the consequence that the actual world is an impossible world, it does so only on the condition that the dialetheist admits that she cannot give a dialetheic solution to all self-referential semantic paradoxes. Thus, unless there are any further available modal logics that don't commit her to the impossibility of the actual world, the dialetheist is faced with a dilemma. Either admit that the actual world is an impossible world, or admit that her research programme cannot give a comprehensive solution to the self-referential paradoxes.     

Noogenesis—the fundamental problem of our time

The possibility of long wave economic cycles are considered under both market capitalism and command socialism. Capitalist long waves can be generated by a two‐stage multiplier‐accelerator model and socialist long waves can be generated by an equivalent model strictly for investment cycles. Under certain conditions chaotic dynamics can occur at turning points in both cases. It is argued that a systemic crisis leading to a systemic transformation is most likely to occur at such a point.

新辅助化疗作为治疗宫颈癌的一种新的辅助手段,尽管在各期治疗中都取得了很好的效果,但是尚处在临床研究阶段,对其化疗方案、给药途径、治疗的长期疗效等仍存在很大的争议,矛盾无处不在,无时不有,只要我们抓住治疗中的主要矛盾,把握矛盾的主要方面,趋利避害,就能有效治疗宫颈癌。     

基层医院病理诊断工作中的矛盾及解决对策

通过对目前地市级及以下医院病理诊断工作处于艰难处境,严重制约临床各科发展的现状进行分析。提出了四个方面突出的矛盾,临床技术飞速发展与病理工作条件滞后的矛盾;病理、临床医师间信息不对称的矛盾;日益升温的冰冻切片需求与其固有局限性的矛盾;临床对诊断高准确性要求与病理诊断高复杂性现实的矛盾。探讨了相应解决对策。     

人性的内在矛盾是道德的基础

道德根源于人性,道德的最终基础在于人性的内在矛盾,道德的力量来源于道德的人性基础,人性化的生活即道德生活,是人类最理想的生活方式。     

Dogmatic Behavior Among Students: Testing a New Measure of Dogmatism

Abstract

The study tested the validity of a new measure of dogmatism by examining university students' evaluations of the Bible. Those who believed that every word in the Bible came directly from God and that the Bible is free of any error, contradiction, or inconsistency scored much higher on this dogmatism measure than students who thought otherwise. Such “true believers” then read the 4 highly varying Gospel accounts of the resurrection of Jesus. The most dogmatic of them still insisted there were no contradictions or inconsistencies in the Bible. The less dogmatic acknowledged that contradictions and inconsistencies exist. These results reinforce those of 4 earlier studies that indicated that the new measure of dogmatism has empirical validity.
