This study evaluated the neuropsychological performance of adults with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD) during the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test: Computerized Version 3 (WCST),
and the Integrated Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test (IVA). Quantitative electroencephalographic (QEEG) data
were also collected during task performance to examine differences in cortical activity between groups and tasks. Results
suggest that adults with ADHD demonstrated lower levels of performance on the PASAT and IVA, tasks that involve working memory
and processing speed, and sustained attention, respectively. Adults with ADHD also had more upper alpha activity during the
IVA. Lastly, for the ADHD group, an increased theta/beta ratio during the IVA was significantly related to poorer attentional
performance. The current results support reinforcing specific types of cortical activity though EEG operant conditioning (neurofeedback)
as a treatment option in adults with ADHD.

The psychosocial and physical factors, including chemical ones, which affect the human organism are considered by some authors to be stress factors which affect the functional state (FS) of the central nervous system (CNS). We calculated correlations among the clinical, psychological/psychometric, and quantitative electropsychological (QEEG) variables of the functional changes of the CNS in chemical stress. These data were based on occupational contact with lead as experienced by 402 workers, with styrene by 96, with shale-oil products by 252, with organic solvents by 77 workers, and a control group of 145 workers in different age groups. The QEEG data of 77 patients were analyzed to determine the chronic neurotoxic effects of industrial chemical substances by diagnosing the functional changes at the syndrome level. We concluded that occupational chemical factors impact the functional state of the CNS. During chemical stress -activity and total cerebral bioelectrical activity (BA) decreases. The use of psychometric/ psychological and QEEG methods makes it possible to diagnose the changes of the CNS as hypersthenic, hyposthenic, and organic psychosyndromes. 相似文献

A robust body of research documents that there are biological predispositions that often exist for depression, anxiety, and
obsessive–compulsive disorder. However, new research has shown that medication is only mildly more effective than placebo
in the treatment of these problems. In treating these conditions, neurofeedback (EEG biofeedback) may offer an alternative
to invasive treatments such as medication, ECT, and intense levels of transcrancial magnetic stimulation. This paper reviews
the neurofeedback literature with these problems, finding particularly positive research support for the treatment of anxiety

The ideographic, syndrome analysis and the nomothetic, standardized test battery approaches to neuropsychological assessment are compared and contrasted within the context of advances in noninvasive technology readily available for use within the examiner's office. By demonstrating the relative strengths and benefits of syndrome analysis, it is suggested that this approach provides a thorough and efficient method of neuropsychological assessment. Subsequently, the utility of an a priori hypothesis testing process approach as a critical technique in syndrome analysis will be supported. It will be proposed that QEEG procedures provide a useful method for further substantiating conclusions generated from a syndrome analysis approach to neuropsychological assessment. Two cases are described demonstrating the utility and flexibility of the QEEG as a confirmatory test of localization following syndrome analysis. In summary, the contributions that neuropsychologists make to the understanding of brain–behavior relationships may be strengthened by combining neuropsychological and neurophysiological assessment methods. 相似文献

Several possible conceptualizations of neurotherapy are discussed: EEG operant conditioning; EEG homeostatic normalization;
and utilization of EEG biofeedback as a means of accessing particular states of consciousness. Attention is given to how neurotherapy
is actually done and when it may be a useful adjunct to psychological or medical therapies. Integration of neurotherapy with
the larger framework of cognitive behavior therapy and the biopsychosocial model is discussed. Three case studies of adults

A review of Jung’s writing on the ‘feeling‐toned complex’ shows that he considered it to comprise independent, split‐off, psychic elements. Modern advances in scientific thinking and technology, namely Dynamic Systems Theory and neuro‐imaging, allow us to better define and explore this psychic phenomenon. Considering the constellation of the complex as a hierarchy of dynamic systems allows for a prediction of the timing of brain activity. This has been confirmed by two independent studies using fMRI and QEEG while administering the Word Association Experiment, the tool Jung used to investigate brain/psychic functioning over a century ago. Using as a framework the stages of the constellation of a complex viewed as a hierarchy of dynamic systems, I review the neuro‐imaging studies reported by Petchkovsky et al. (2013, 2017) and Escamilla et al. (2018), concluding that quantitative theoretical predictions and experimental results are in agreement within an order of magnitude. The change in attention caused by the constellation of the complex can also be conceived as the switching from a default neuro‐network, a startle response activating executive functioning in the frontal cortex of either the ego‐complex or an autonomous complex. 相似文献
