Using Lexicographic Parametric Programming for Searching a Non-dominated Set in Multiple-Objective Linear Programming

In this paper we propose an approach which makes it possible to search non-dominated and only non-dominated solutions in multiple-objective linear programming. The approach is based on the use of a reference direction and lexicographic parametric programming. The requisite theory is developed in the paper. The use of the approach is illustrated with a numerical example.

Generalization gradients in human predictive learning: Effects of discrimination training and within-subjects testing

Generalization gradients have been investigated widely in animal conditioning experiments, but much less so in human predictive learning tasks. Here, we apply the experimental design of a recent study on conditioned fear generalization in humans (Lissek et al., 2008) to a predictive learning task, and examine the effects of a number of relevant procedural parameters drawn from the generalization literature in animal conditioning. Experiment 1 shows that prior discrimination learning and steady-state testing procedures sharpen the gradient; Experiment 2 shows that within-subjects testing of the range of generalization stimuli also sharpens the gradient. In addition, Experiment 2 shows that, in case of very flat initial generalization, an orderly gradient can reveal itself through differential rates of extinction learning. Finally, Experiment 2 also evidenced an orderly gradient of generalization-of-extinction. These results suggest that discrimination processes have an important effect on the generalization of predictive learning in humans, and highlight behavioral analogies between animal conditioning and human predictive learning.     

Applied Roles and the Future of Community Psychology

The roles for community psychologists have changed over the past several decades. These changes have implications for training, traditional academic roles, and the capacity of the field to maintain its integrity and further development. Changes in the scope of community psychology as a field as well as the roles of community psychologists are described with consideration of how they may affect participation in the field, retention of membership in SCRA, and potential directions for training.

心理战作为一种战争和社会的实践活动,有着悠久的历史,但作为一门独立学科,发端于上世纪初。该文概述了心理战作为一个独立研究领域以来国内外关于心理战研究的现状。在此基础上,提出了心理战研究存在的问题和不足,最后对我国心理战研究的发展方向提出了看法。     

PSO-GA based hybrid with Adam Optimization for ANN training with application in Medical Diagnosis

This paper introduces a novel PSO-GA based hybrid training algorithm with Adam Optimization and contrasts performance with the generic Gradient Descent based Backpropagation algorithm with Adam Optimization for training Artificial Neural Networks. We aim to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional algorithm, such as slower convergence rate and frequent convergence to local minima, by employing the characteristics of evolutionary algorithms. PSO has a property of faster convergence rate, which can be exploited to account for the slower pace of convergence of the traditional BP (which is due to low values of gradients). In contrast, the integration with GA complements the drawback of convergence to local minima as GA, possesses the capability of efficient global search. So by this integration of these algorithms, we propose our new hybrid algorithm for training ANNs. We compare both the algorithms for the application of medical diagnosis. Results display that the proposed hybrid training algorithm, significantly outperforms the traditional training algorithm, by enhancing the accuracies of the ANNs with an increase of 20% in the average testing accuracy and 0.7% increase in the best testing accuracy.     

Modeling Mental Spatial Reasoning About Cardinal Directions

This article presents research into human mental spatial reasoning with orientation knowledge. In particular, we look at reasoning problems about cardinal directions that possess multiple valid solutions (i.e., are spatially underdetermined), at human preferences for some of these solutions, and at representational and procedural factors that lead to such preferences. The article presents, first, a discussion of existing, related conceptual and computational approaches; second, results of empirical research into the solution preferences that human reasoners actually have; and, third, a novel computational model that relies on a parsimonious and flexible spatio‐analogical knowledge representation structure to robustly reproduce the behavior observed with human reasoners.     

Working through the Problems of Study Abroad Using the Methodologies of Religious Studies

After illustrating the joys of teaching religious studies abroad with an anecdote from my trip to China, I warn of some of its inherent pedagogical and ethical challenges. I argue that teaching some of the “new directions” in religious studies scholarship might address these challenges. These include a turning away from the abstract (texts, beliefs, theologies) and towards the concrete (bodies, places, rituals); moving away from teaching religions as unchanging, ancient verities and instead emphasizing the impact that colonialism, modernization, and secularism have had; moving from searching for authenticity to questioning it; and emphasizing methodological self‐consciousness. Keeping these new directions in mind will help ensure the study abroad experience is educationally successful. This essay serves as an introduction to a series of six additional essays comprising a special section of the journal (see Teaching Theology and Religion 18:1, January 2015).     

关于帛书《易之义》解说坤卦卦爻辞之文义的辨正

用<说卦传>的八卦方位说或汉易卦气说去解说<周易>坤卦卦辞,都会遇到岁时和方位逆行的问题,这是违背八卦方位与卦气原理的.这表明有学者据帛书<易之义>中"岁之义"的说法推断<周易>本经中有卦气思想的看法是行不通的.细考帛书原文,其"岁之义,始于东北,成于西南"一句其实本非解说坤辞"西南得朋,东北丧朋"的,而是解说初六爻辞的.而就爻辞"履霜坚冰至"一语本身而言,我们无法从中看出什么方位问题,传本<易传>亦无此类解读,故帛书有关"岁之义"的说法只能视为帛书制作时代的观念.
