Joseph Raz has been dedicated to using the philosophies of mind and of action to explain the nature of normativity. By the same token, his research on jurisprudence and the nature of law has been rooted in his use of the context of the philosophy of practical reason to explain the normativity of law, namely,the relation between law and morality. 自然法像什么?

自然法应当成为类似于实在法的事物,而不是要完全像法律。自然法必须具有法律的特征,即能够以法律所具有的强制性方式安排人类事务。第一,这意味着自然法必须是义务性的;第二,自然法的义务性命令在某种意义上必须被理解为强制性的;第三,为了能够以一种近于类似法律的方式对任何事情产生影响,自然法的要求和禁止也必须要由各种类型的附属原则来补充;第四,自然法必须与伦理学和道德相分离,甚至与客观的伦理学与道德相分离;第五,自然法必须从属于某个共享承认的要求。
