This focus section has presented Japanese research on a variety of socialization agents and contexts, including mothering, fathering, peers and multiple-caretakers in families and institutions. The reader is encouraged to compare the papers, discover the theoretical and applied implications of each study for child development in the reader's own culture, and to pursue collaborations with the outstanding young Japanese contributors. We conclude with brief comments on each of the five articles, discussing their limitations, most significant findings, theoretical importance, and implications for subsequent research. 相似文献

This paper introduces some findings about the vocational behavior of the late adult Japanese who are in a process of transition. The first part of the paper emphasizes the need for research on Japanese vocational behavior in late adulthood from a developmental–contextual frame of reference. In the second part, discussion is focused on circumstances of late adult workers in Japan who have been affected most by the current socioeconomic changes and who have been caught in the middle of changes in employment management systems and policies. A brief summary of the findings from two ongoing research projects which emphasize the need for psychological–interventional assistance in order for retiring persons to maintain their well-being in a period of personal and social transition is presented. 相似文献

This paper gives new confluence proofs for several lambda calculi with permutation-like reduction, including lambda calculi corresponding to intuitionistic and classical natural deduction with disjunction and permutative conversions, and a lambda calculus with explicit substitutions. For lambda calculi with permutative conversion, naïve parallel reduction technique does not work, and (if we consider untyped terms, and hence we do not use strong normalization) traditional notion of residuals is required as Ando pointed out. This paper shows that the difficulties can be avoided by extending the technique proposed by Dehornoy and van Oostrom, called the Z theorem: existence of a mapping on terms with the Z property concludes the confluence. Since it is still hard to directly define a mapping with the Z property for the lambda calculi with permutative conversions, this paper extends the Z theorem to compositional functions, called compositional Z, and shows that we can adopt it to the calculi. 相似文献

Judgment of infant cry: The roles of acoustic characteristics and sociodemographic characteristics 下载免费PDF全文
Adult judgments of infant cry are determined by both acoustic properties of the cry and listener sociodemographic characteristics. The main purpose of this research was to investigate how these two sources shape adult judgments of infant cry. We systematically manipulated both the acoustic properties of infant cries and contrasted listener sociodemographic characteristics. Then, we asked participants to listen to several acoustic manipulations of infant cries and to judge the level of distress the infant was expressing and the level of distress participants felt when listening. Finally, as a contrasting condition, participants estimated the age of the crying infant. Using tree‐based models, we found that judgments of the level of distress the infant was expressing as well as the level of distress listeners felt are mainly accounted for by select acoustic properties of infant cry (proportion of sound/pause, fundamental frequency, and number of utterances), whereas age estimates of a crying infant are determined mainly by listener sociodemographic characteristics (gender and parental status). Implications for understanding infant cry and its effects as well as early caregiver‐infant interactions are discussed. 相似文献

Asymmetrical neural adaptation in lower leg muscles as a consequence of stereotypical motor training
Despite well-authorized facts regarding asymmetrical architectural changes between different limbs after persistent participation in particular motor training, no studies have addressed the neural aspects to the present. The authors undertook the study to elucidate the possibility of neural adaptation on a limb-by-limb basis after repetitive engagement in a particular motor training routine. We investigated lower leg muscles in endurance-trained track runners who have been trained by routinely running on a track in counterclockwise direction on curved paths. Stretch reflex responses in the plantarflexor muscles (soleus [SOL], medial [MG], and lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle) were evaluated bilaterally with participants sitting at rest. Comparisons were made between homonymous muscles of the right (corresponding to outside leg for track running) and left leg (inside leg, likewise) and with a group of nontrained controls. The result clearly demonstrated that the responses were prominently different between the legs (thus, asymmetrical) in the MG muscles and partially in the SOL muscles in the trained group. In contrast, no such differences were obtained in the nontrained control group. The result demonstrated that neural adaptation took place asymmetrically and that could be attributable to their repetitive engagement in the stereotypical motor task. 相似文献

From 1915–1916 there was in Kyoto a trans-national group of Buddhists named the Mahayana Association, which published an English Buddhist periodical, Mahayanist. Two members of the Mahayana Association, William Montgomery McGovern and M. T. Kirby, were among the earliest cases of Westerners ordained in the tradition of Mahayana Buddhism in Japan. Kirby explored the temples of Jōdo Shinshū and the monastic life of Rinzai Zen and Theravada Buddhism in search of salvation. McGovern, on the other hand, had been searching for an alternative to Christianity, which he found unscientific and dissatisfying. He finally found Jōdo Shinshū, which he held to be the essence of Mahayana Buddhism. His understanding of Buddhism was influenced by D. T. Suzuki's version of Mahayana Buddhism. Utsuki Nishu, who helped McGovern and Kirby run the Association, joined the Theosophical Society (Adyar, India) while he was studying at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles and later helped Beatrice Suzuki run the Mahayana Lodge of the Theosophical Society. Drawing on forgotten documents discovered only recently in a Japanese temple, this paper offers a progress report on research into these documents and explores a significant but hitherto unknown side of the history of modern Japanese Buddhism. 相似文献

Twenty-one healthy subjects were instructed to observe the mirror image of the tactile stimulation of their own hand (control
condition) or an assistant’s hand (experimental condition) while being queried about the referred sensation (RS) in their
own masked hand behind the mirror. The rated intensity of the RS under the experimental condition was significantly stronger
than that under the control condition. In a second experiment, the experimental condition was replaced with the tactile stimulation
of a prosthetic (rubber) hand, and was compared with the tactile stimulation of the subject’s own hand (control condition).
In both of the experiments, the rated intensity of RS was significantly stronger under the experimental condition than under
the control condition. The qualitative characteristics of the induced RS on the mirror image hand—including the location,
sense of ownership, and various subjective feelings—were also found to vary among subjects. In conclusion, an RS could be
induced in healthy subjects on the mirror image of the hand by tactile stimulations, although this effect differed substantially
among individuals. 相似文献

AbstractWe investigated whether bilateral lower-limb control and leg dominance affect force control ability in 15 healthy young adults (9 males and 6 females, age =26.8?±?4.1 years). Participants performed isometric ankle dorsiflexion force control tasks, matching a visual target (10% of maximal effort) as quickly and precisely as possible in ballistic and tonic tasks. Performance was evaluated using force error, force steadiness, amount of muscle activity of the tibialis anterior, and response time characteristics. Results showed no significant effects of leg dominance during both ballistic and tonic tasks, while bilateral condition resulted in significantly larger error, less force steadiness, compared to unilateral condition, and only during the tonic task. Consequently, bilateral control, specifically in tasks utilizing feedback control (i.e., tonic task) might affect force control ability, possibly because of the interhemispheric inhibition to meet bilateral task complexity and integrate afferent bilateral sensory information from both right and left legs. 相似文献
