Step 1
Preliminary MANOVA/ANOVA showed significant effects on the ensemble of spectral variables of every single factor (status: normal or patient group; intervention; gender) with no significant factor interactions. Significant effects of intervention or status on main RR spectral variables and on a few QT spectral variables were also documented.Step 2
Non-parametric tests showed that diabetics had (mildly to moderately) shorter mean RR, while their RR-LF was always singificantly lower than those found in normals—a difference propagated to QT-LF but not to idioventricular QT-LF. In the intra-group there were similar responses to interventions except stress with respect to mean RR. Consistent reduction in RR-LF under moderate or no change in mean RR suggests vagal down-regulation that, judging by idioventricular QT-LF showing, goes perhaps before a similar process with sympathetic control of ventricles. This phase delay may introduce an early arrhythmic risk worth dealing with in secondary prevention. 相似文献2.

Seventeen male subjects, aged nineteen to twenty, went through a protocol including, while supine, relaxation at rest (10
min) and mental stress (MS) by a Kraepelin (arithmetic) test (5 min), as part of a larger study. With a polygraphic analog
recording set-up we also collected a 1 ms - digital facsimile of a lead II-like thoracic ECG with maximum T-wave (Codas, Dataq
Instr). Twenty-three stress responses were assigned to three classes according to known cardiotacho-, plethysmo-, and pneumo-graphic
marks of “concentrated attention mainly,” “emotion,” or still “high emotion.” During each setting the most stationary 3 min
RR epoch in cardiotachogram was selected for joint RR & QT beat-by-beat variability study. RR and QT intervals were detected
using a published algorithm. Conventional RR and QT Fourier autospectra were computed while using RR*QT mean square coherence spectrum we detached the RR-independent, idioventricular (IV) fraction of QT low frequency (LF: 0.04–0.15
Hz) power of variability (IV QT-LF).
IV QT-LF responded consistently to varieties of mental stress that confuse RR-LF or let QT-LF unchanged, best witnessing the
cortically-issued ventricular adrenergic strain. Indeed, while emotion propels the same way all spectral variables above,
concentrated attention increased (Wilcoxon) significantly IV QT-LF only (0.54–0.80 ms2) and decreased RR-LF (715–465 ms2). Findings hold promise of a non-invasive, high resolution Holter based monitoring of sympathetic status of myocardium, robust
vis-à-vis of confusion caused by the autonomic interplay at sino-atrial node. 相似文献

Communication by shared meaning, themastery of word semantics, metarepresentation and metamentation aremental abilities, uniquely human, that share a sense ofintentionality or reference. The latteris developed by a naive psychology or interpretation – acompetence dedicated to representingintentional relations between conspecifics and the world. Theidea that interpretation builds new mentalabilities around a sense of reference is based on three linesof analysis – conceptual, psychological andevolutionary. The conceptual analysis reveals that a senseof reference is at the heart of the abilitiesin question. Psychological data track tight developmentalcorrelations between interpretation and theabilities it designs. Finally, an evolutionary hypothesislooks at why interpretation designed thosenew abilities around a sense of reference. 相似文献

This study sought to test the validity of the psychological health model of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). Specifically, this study sought to investigate if rational beliefs were associated with happiness and optimism. A multinational sample of 397 university students completed self‐report measures of rational beliefs, happiness and optimism. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used in order to test the validity of the REBT model of psychological health. The result of the SEM analysis provided empirical support for REBT's psychological health model of happiness and optimism. The model as a whole explained 33% of variance in levels of happiness and 40% of variance in levels of optimism. Self‐acceptance beliefs were positively and directly associated with happiness and optimism. Preference beliefs were positively and indirectly associated with happiness and optimism via self‐acceptance beliefs. REBT may offer a viable psychotherapeutic method to not only alleviate psychological distress, but also build positive emotion. Current findings may help to bridge the divide between the fields of positive psychology and clinical psychology. 相似文献

27 consecutive insulin-dependent diabetic patients (pts), under 50 years, with blood glucose controlled within normal limits and no significant or multiple cardiovascular/neurological complications in the lights of clinical tests, went through a protocol as follows: laiddown at relaxed rest for 10 min, then stood-up quietly for 7 min, and finally experienced a stress-interview for 10 min while supine. A thoracic ECG lead was digitized at I ms (Codas, Dataq Instr.), RR and QT intervals were software-detected, resampled at 500 ms, and Fourier-transformed over 3 min epochs to get auto-or cross-spectra. RR-by-QT mean square coherence detached the RR-independent fraction of QT low fequency (LF) spectral power, called idioventricular QT-LF. We detected autonomic impairment of three types (discriminant score = 92.31%), presumably differentiated upon the locus of lesion, using RR's basal variance and mean RR shortening when standing as follows: (I) RR shortening > 200 ms in 10 pts; (II) normal RR shortening but no RR variance in 4 pts; (III) stiff RR around 600 ms and no RR variance in 2 pts. The above pts have been excluded from further analysis. The remaining 11 pts with no such impairments (5M and 6F, 36.4 y +/- 4.4 SD, history of 6.0 y +/- 5.2) have been compared with 11 normal subjects in an age and gender-paired control group in two steps. Step 1: Preliminary MANOVA/ANOVA showed significant effects on the ensemble of spectral variables of every single factor (status: normal or patient group; intervention; gender) with no significant factor interactions. Significant effects of intervention or status on main RR spectral variables and on a few QT spectral variables were also documented. Although there is an extensive literature showing that both rational-emotive and cognitive-behavioral interventions (REBT/CBT) and music can alter various emotional responses, little is known about their ability to impact on both positive and negative emotions simultaneously. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate whether classical music combined with REBT/CBT psycho-education on emotions can alter people’s levels of positive and negative emotions. A number of 459 participants (62.7% females; m age = 36.67, SD = 11.754) were recruited for this study from the public attending to a classical music concert. The classical music pieces were selected by a group of experts in order to be conceptualized in relationship with components of the REBT/CBT’s ABC model of emotions (e.g., catastrophyzing, acceptance/meditation) and this conceptualization was also delivered during the concert (i.e., before each corresponding musical part). Emotions were assessed before and after the entire performance for all participants. Results indicated a significant change in emotions between the two assessments (F(11,397) = 59.99, p < .001, partial η2 = .62), revealing significant increases for all the positive emotions and decreases for all the negative emotions that have been evaluated. This is one of the first experimental studies conducted on large-scale in fully ecological settings to confirm that music-based rational-emotive and cognitive-behavioral education might change the intensity of people’s positive and negative emotions simultaneously. These findings are discussed in line with the existing models of music and emotions. 相似文献

Stereotype Content Model (SCM) emphasizes the content rather than the underlying processes of the stereotypes and the content might be influenced by several cultural dimensions (e.g., individualism vs. collectivism). The main dimensions of SCM—namely warmth and competence—underlying various contents are assumed to be universal. However, from a cognitive science paradigm, we argue that different research methods (i.e., data collections and data analysis) might also yield different stereotype contents that might impact the universality versus specificity problem in the SCM. Indeed, using a sample from a collectivistic country (i.e., Romania), we found that using different methods in data collection (i.e., unstructured vs. semi-structured vs. structured interview) and different methods of data analysis (i.e., availability vs. accessibility scores) might be an important research strategy to counter artefacts and confusions in the universality versus specificity problem related to the SCM. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed. 相似文献

Rewards that are not immediately available are discounted compared to rewards that are immediately available. The more a person discounts a delayed reward, the more likely that person is to have a range of behavioral problems, including clinical disorders. This latter observation has motivated the search for interventions that reduce discounting. One surprisingly simple method to reduce discounting is an "explicit-zero" reframing that states default or null outcomes. Reframing a classical discounting choice as "something now but nothing later" versus "nothing now but more later" decreases discount rates. However, it is not clear how this "explicit-zero" framing intervention works. The present studies delineate and test two possible mechanisms to explain the phenomenon. One mechanism proposes that the explicit-zero framing creates the impression of an improving sequence, thereby enhancing the present value of the delayed reward. A second possible mechanism posits an increase in attention allocation to temporally distant reward representations. In four experiments, we distinguish between these two hypothesized mechanisms and conclude that the temporal attention hypothesis is superior for explaining our results. We propose a model of temporal attention whereby framing affects intertemporal preferences by modifying present bias. 相似文献
