This is a story about the fate of a psychological application: from its conception to the optimistic vision surrounding its future. We hope that this application – an enjoyable learning game (www or mobile phone‐based, available free of charge to the end users) for children – can at best help millions of children in their reading acquisition in the future. Its basis was created by following intensively the development of children with (N = 107) and without (N = 92) genetic (familial) risk for dyslexia from birth to puberty in the Jyväskylä Longitudinal study of Dyslexia (JLD)‐project. We summarize some of the major findings of the JLD in order to facilitate understanding of the reasons and logic behind the development of the game. Originally intended as a research tool for reading acquisition, its potential for prevention of reading difficulties was quickly recognized.  相似文献

Twelve psychological tests including a standardized questionnaire were administered to 20 male viscose rayon workers with long-term exposure to carbon disulfide and to 152 nonexposed men. With the method of multiple discriminant analysis the number of tests was reduced from 12 to 5 and the number of variables from 30 to 7. The variable setting of the obtained discriminant function contained measures of different types of psychomotor performances, emotional behaviour and subjective symptoms. Sensitivity and specificity of the tests and the criteria for a detected effected were evaluated a posteriori. In general, the sensitivity of the methods was better than its specificity. Sufficient specificity could be obtained when a higher probability level for belonging to the exposed group was applied as the criterion, but even then, the application of other, reference diagnostic methods seems necessary to separate the false positive cases.  相似文献

Theoretically one of the most important questions in applied psychology is how people influence and control each other. What theoretical concepts can be used to explain these influences? Learning theory explanations have been popular in psychology, but other alternatives are also possible. In this article, rehabilitation is analysed through interactional persuasion strategies. Six strategies are proposed: coercion, threat, offer, guidance, appeal and appreciation. Each strategy corresponds to a specific atmosphere, and arouses either compatible or incompatible reactions from the target of a specific strategy. In the present model the major component of the persuasion strategy is the choice it provides. Choice depends on the amount of information and sense of personal control it provides. In order to attain specific rehabilitation objectives certain persuasion strategies are applied. Coercion, threat and offer are used for behavioural objectives and guidance; appeal and appreciation for cognitive-experiential objectives. In the last part of the article, various rehabilitation programmes are described by persuasion strategies.  相似文献

Cats were conditioned to turn their heads using a tone conditioned stimulus (CS) and medial forebrain bundle stimulation (MFB) unconditioned stimulus (US). The CS+ was delivered to one ear at a time, in random order, followed by the US. A tone of a different frequency was used as a CS-. The cats learned to respond differentially to the CSs showing head movements of greater acceleration to the CS+ than CS- over sessions. Bilateral recordings of cingulate cortex multiple-unit activity showed increased response amplitudes over sessions and larger responses in the hemisphere ipsilateral to the US. Since ipsilateral multiple-unit responses did not differ for the CSs, the asymmetry was probably due to the sensitizing effect of the unilateral US. Although increases in cingulate cortex neural activity coincided with increases in conditioned head movements, larger activation of the cingulate cortex ipsilateral to the US suggests that the neural changes were independent of these movements.  相似文献
