Emergent research identifies cultural tightness-looseness as an important factor for understanding cross-national outcome differences during the coronavirus pandemic. Because perceived tightness-looseness can be measured as an individual-level difference rather than a nation-level difference, and because tightness-looseness may shift during large-scale crises, we investigated whether such shifts occurred early in the coronavirus pandemic in both China (a relatively tight nation, n = 3642) and the U.S. (a relatively loose nation, n = 3583) across three cohorts. Tightness increased across cohorts in China and reduced across cohorts in the U.S. These changes transmitted corresponding indirect effects whereby compliance and institutional trust (scientific and government) about the pandemic were increased in China across cohorts, but decreased in the U.S. across cohorts. These patterns extend advice that national governments can increase compliance and trust via “tightening” by cautioning against norm-setters signaling the reverse (that norms about compliance are loose) given the outcomes observed in the U.S. samples. 相似文献

The study investigated the moderating role of occupational self-efficacy and job social support on the relationship between job demands and psychological well-being among mid-career academics. Participants were 203 academics at three public Nigerian universities (female = 37.93%; mean years of service = 8.58 years, SD = 2.20). The academics completed measures of job demands, occupational self-efficacy, job social support, and psychological well-being. Moderated regression analysis of the data suggested only occupational self-efficacy to moderate the relationship between work demands and psychological well-being. Findings underpin the buffering effects of work self-efficacy in employee psychological well-being with high job demands. 相似文献

The ad coefficient was developed to measure the within‐group agreement of ratings. The underlying theory as well as the construction of the coefficient are explained. The ad coefficient ranges from 0 to 1, regardless of the number of scale points, raters, or items. With some limitations the measure of the within‐group agreement of different groups and groups from different studies is directly comparable. For statistical significance testing, the binomial distribution is introduced as a model of the ratings' random distribution given the true score of a group construct. This method enables a decision about essential agreement and not only about a significant difference from 0 or a chosen critical value. The ad coefficient identifies a single true score within a group. It is not provided for multiple true score settings. The comparison of the ad coefficient with other agreement indices shows that the new coefficient is in line with their outcomes, but does not result in infinite or inappropriate values. 相似文献

In the present study, we used a top-down approach to examine perfectionism and loneliness as additive sociocognitive predictors of depressive and anxious symptoms in a sample of 121 Latina college students. Consistent with expectations, we found perfectionism and loneliness to be associated with both depressive and anxious symptoms. In addition, results of conducting hierarchical regression analyses indicated that certain dimensions of perfectionism, especially doubts about actions, accounted for significant variance in both depressive and anxious symptoms. Moreover, the inclusion of loneliness as a predictor was found to predict additional unique variance in both depressive and anxious symptoms beyond what was accounted for by perfectionism. Implications of the present findings for future research on negative affective conditions in Latinas are discussed. 相似文献

My primary aim in this article is to provide a philosophical account of the unity of hallucinations, which can capture both
perceptual hallucinations (which are subjectively indistinguishable from perceptions) and non-perceptual hallucinations (all
others). Besides, I also mean to clarify further the division of labour and the nature of the collaboration between philosophy
and the cognitive sciences. Assuming that the epistemic conception of hallucinations put forward by M. G. F. Martin and others
is largely on the right track, I will focus on two main tasks: (a) to provide a satisfactory phenomenology of the subjective
character of perceptions and perceptual hallucinations and (b) to redress the philosophers’ neglect of non-perceptual hallucinations.
More specifically, I intend to apply one of the central tenets of the epistemic conception—that hallucinations can and should
be positively characterised in terms of their phenomenological connections to perceptions—to non-perceptual hallucinations
as well. That is, I will try to show that we can positively specify the class of non-perceptual hallucinations by reference
to the distinctive ways in which we first-personally experience them and perceptions in consciousness. The task of saying
more about their underlying third-personal nature may then be left to the cognitive sciences. 相似文献
