Many models for multivariate data analysis can be seen as special cases of the linear dynamic or state space model. Contrary to the classical approach to linear dynamic systems analysis, in which high-dimensional exact solutions are sought, the model presented here is developed from a social science framework where low-dimensional approximate solutions are preferred. Borrowing concepts from the theory on mixture distributions, the linear dynamic model can be viewed as a multi-layered regression model, in which the output variables are imprecise manifestations of an unobserved continuous process. An additional layer of mixing makes it possible to incorporate non-normal as well as ordinal variables.Using the EM-algorithm, we find estimates of the unknown model parameters, simultaneously providing stability estimates. The model is very general and cannot be well estimated by other estimation methods. We illustrate the applicability of the obtained procedure through an example with generated data. 相似文献

We present a computational model of approach learning in a simulated maze environment. Our maze environment and training method mimics those used in the experimental literature. We show that our model learns the correct sequence of six decisions that lead to the location of positive reinforcement and in a manner consistent with experimental observations. Our model exhibits many properties that are characteristic of animal learning in maze environments including delay conditioning, secondary conditioning, and backward chaining. Finally, we map our model to the basal ganglia and show that a signal in our model that is responsible for learning has the same temporal properties as dopamine, the neurotransmitter believed to play an important part in learning decision sequences. 相似文献

In this paper implicit function-based parameterizations for orthogonal and oblique rotation matrices are proposed. The parameterizations
are used to construct Newton algorithms for minimizing differentiable rotation criteria applied to m factors and p variables. The speed of the new algorithms is compared to that of existing algorithms and to that of Newton algorithms based
on alternative parameterizations. Several rotation criteria were examined and the algorithms were evaluated over a range of
values for m. Initial guesses for Newton algorithms were improved by subconvergence iterations of the gradient projection algorithm. Simulation
results suggest that no one algorithm is fastest for minimizing all criteria for all values of m. Among competing algorithms, the gradient projection algorithm alone was faster than the implicit function algorithm for
minimizing a quartic criterion over oblique rotation matrices when m is large. In all other conditions, however, the implicit function algorithms were competitive with or faster than the fastest
existing algorithms. The new algorithms showed the greatest advantage over other algorithms when minimizing a nonquartic component

Internet of Video Things (IoVT) has been proposed and studied as a scenario where video cameras are ubiquitous and continuously acquiring data from their surroundings. In order to enable handling of a large amount of data generated in IoVT architectures, robust autonomous video processing must be performed. An important application is the recognition of different actions performed by humans in the context of security. This research evolves a previously published work, by reducing the input dimensionality to the recognition system, making it more robust to variations in the position of the body in each video frame, and by using a Multilayer Perceptron Artificial Neural Network whose hyperparameters are here optimized by a Genetic Algorithm. Significant improvements in the recognition rate have been obtained, despite the use of a more straightforward pre-processing phase and the increase in the number of viewpoints from the video cameras. 相似文献

In this paper, ant colony algorithm is studied to improve the visual cognitive function of intelligent robots. Based on the detailed understanding of the research status in this field at home and abroad, and learning from cognitive science and neurobiology research results, a solution is proposed from the perspective of ant colony algorithm based on human brain structure and function. By simulating the process of autonomous learning controlled by human long-term memory and its working memory, a visual strangeness-driven growth long-term memory autonomous learning algorithm is proposed. This method takes incremental self-organizing network as long-term memory structure, and combines with visual strangeness internal motivation Q learning method in working memory. The visual knowledge acquired by self-learning is accumulated into long-term memory continuously, thus realizing the ability of self-learning, memory and intelligence development similar to human beings. The experimental results show that the robot can learn visual knowledge independently, store and update knowledge incrementally, and improve its intelligence development, classification and recognition ability compared with the method without long-term memory. We advocate for rank‐permutation tests as the best choice for null‐hypothesis significance testing of behavioral data, because these tests require neither distributional assumptions about the populations from which our data were drawn nor the measurement assumption that our data are measured on an interval scale. We provide an algorithm that enables exact‐probability versions of such tests without recourse to either large‐sample approximation or resampling approaches. We particularly consider a rank‐permutation test for monotonic trend, and provide an extension of this test that allows unequal number of data points, or observations, for each subject. Goodman's (1979, 1981, 1985) loglinear formulation for bi-way contingency tables is extended to tables with or without missing cells and is used for exploratory purposes. A similar formulation is done for three-way tables and generalizations of correspondence analysis are deduced. Past research has found that people treat advice differently depending on its source. In many cases, people seem to prefer human advice to algorithms, but in others, there is a reversal, and people seem to prefer algorithmic advice. Across two studies, we examine the persuasiveness of, and judges' preferences for, advice from different sources when forecasting geopolitical events. We find that judges report domain-specific preferences, preferring human advice in the domain of politics and algorithmic advice in the domain of economics. In Study 2, participants report a preference for hybrid advice, that combines human and algorithmic sources, to either one on it's own regardless of domain. More importantly, we find that these preferences did not affect persuasiveness of advice from these different sources, regardless of domain. Judges were primarily sensitive to quantitative features pertaining to the similarity between their initial beliefs and the advice they were offered, such as the distance between them and the relative advisor confidence, when deciding whether to revise their initial beliefs in light of advice, rather than the source that generated the advice. 相似文献

Psychological tests often involve item clusters that are designed to solicit responses to behavioral stimuli. The dependency between individual responses within clusters beyond that which can be explained by the underlying trait sometimes reveals structures that are of substantive interest. The paper describes two general classes of models for this type of locally dependent responses. Specifically, the models include a generalized log-linear representation and a hybrid parameterization model for polytomous data. A compact matrix notation designed to succinctly represent the system of complex multivariate polytomous responses is presented. The matrix representation creates the necessary formulation for the locally dependent kernel for polytomous item responses. Using polytomous data from an inventory of hostility, we provide illustrations as to how the locally dependent models can be used in psychological measurement. 相似文献
