Theoretical gaps of the cognitive science. First of all the gap-thesis is based on a criticism 1. of the computer-orientated cognitive science (it confuses information with the information carrier), 2. of connectivism (its linguistic borrowing from the neurobiology is not appropriate), 3. of Varelas production model (the elimination of the function of representation results in the loss of the cognitive ability). From the context of meaning and time, then the author sketches a cognitive theoretical approach, in which thinking as a (symbolic and/or subsymbolic) representation of meaning is introduced, which develops in a three-digit relation between world, language and substrate on the basis of isomorphy of time. Computer-based instruction may yield widely useful handwritten spelling. Illustrative cases involved individuals with mental retardation and hearing impairments. The participant in Study 1 matched computer pictures and printed words to one another but did not spell the words to pictures. Spelling was then taught using a computerized procedure. In general, increases in the accuracy of computer spelling were accompanied by improvements in written spelling to pictures. Study 2 extended these results with a 2nd participant. After initial training, spelling improved in the context of a retrieval task in which the participant (a) wrote a list of the names of objects displayed on a table, (b) selected the objects from a shelf, and (c) returned the objects to the table. Nearly perfect accuracy scores declined on some retrieval trials conducted without a list, suggesting that the list may have served a mediating function during retrieval. Transfer of stimulus control of computer-based teaching to the retrieval task may have been attributable to the existence of stimulus classes involving pictures, objects, and printed words.  相似文献

In Experiment 1, 7 nonreading children were exposed to a program designed to teach reading of 51 training words. The program featured an exclusion-based procedure in which the children (a) matched printed to dictated words and (b) constructed (copied) printed words with movable letters and named them. All children learned to read the training words. Five children also read generalization words and showed progress in spelling. Experiment 2 applied the program to 4 different children, omitting the word-construction task. They also learned to read the training words, but only 1 participant read generalization words. The data support a stimulus equivalence account of reading acquisition and suggest that reading generalization may be obtained, especially when the teaching program includes word construction.  相似文献

This paper presents a phenomenological-hermeneutical case study on long-standing pain (LP), a public health problem of great importance. Although there has been intensive research interest in this phenomenon, most studies have been based on traditional medical and cognitive-behavioral approaches. Our thesis is that new frames of reference can provide additional heuristic insights.
The phenomenon of LP shows a strong association with existential factors. Our case study focuses on the meaning-structure of lived temporality , a fundamental existential constituent in the lifeworld of the pain patient. A series of in-depth interviews with four subjects showed that lived temporality is disrupted in pain experience, causing a disorganization of the patient's being in the world. The results generate several hypotheses about implications for time estimation in pain experience.  相似文献

Three pigeons were trained to discriminate a 5.0 mg/kg dose of pentobarbital from saline under a two-key concurrent schedule with responding on the key associated with the presession injection, under both stimulus conditions, producing four times as many reinforcers as responding on the other key. This concurrent schedule resulted in approximately 70% responding to the higher reinforcement key under the pentobarbital stimulus and approximately 30% responding to that key under the saline stimulus. During testing, then, the pigeons were able to dose-dependently emit higher (>70%) or lower (<30%) values than were established under the control conditions. Dose-response curves were determined for pentobarbital (twice), methamphetamine, phencyclidine, chlordiazepoxide, and the combination of pentobarbital and the barbiturate antagonist bemegride. The results obtained with pentobarbital and chlordiazepoxide showed that, as the dose increased, pentobarbital-appropriate responding also increased. Methamphetamine produced relatively flat dose--response curves, whereas phencyclidine administration produced inconsistent effects on responding. The combination of the training dose of pentobarbital with increasing doses of bemegride produced a decrease in pentobarbital-appropriate responding. The results also showed that the dose-response curves for pentobarbital and chlordiazepoxide, instead of being all or none, were graded functions of the drug dose.  相似文献

Four hens worked under independent multiple concurrent variable-interval schedules with an overlaid aversive stimulus (sound of hens in a poultry shed at 100dBA) activated by the first peck on a key. The sound remained on until a response was made on the other key. The key that activated the sound in each component was varied over a series of conditions. When the sound was activated by the left (or right) key in one component, it was activated by the right (or left) key in the other component. Bias was examined under a range of different variable-interval schedules, and the applicability of the generalized matching law was examined. It was found that the hens' behavior was biased away from the sound independently of the schedule in effect and that this bias could be quantified using a modified version of the generalized matching law. Behavior during the changeover delays was not affected by the presence of the noise or by changes in reinforcement rate, even though the total response measures were. Insensitivity shown during the delay suggests that behavior after the changeover delay may be more appropriate as a measure of preference (or aversiveness) of stimuli than are overall behavior measures.  相似文献

Pigeons were studied in two experiments employing delayed matching-to-sample (DMTS) tasks in which the reduction in delay to reinforcement signaled by the onset of the sample stimulus was manipulated by varying sample-stimulus duration. In Experiment 1, the duration of the sample stimulus was either 5 s or 10 s for one sample stimulus and 10 s or 20 s for the other. Subjects matched more frequently when the sample duration was 10 s following the sample associated with the shorter average duration. This finding is analogous to the memory distribution effect found by Honig (1987) in a successive DMTS task that varied retention interval. In Experiment 2, sample duration was either 5 s or 15 s. In Phases 1 and 3 each sample duration was correlated with a particular sample color, and in Phase 2 sample duration and color were uncorrelated. When sample duration was 5 s, subjects matched more frequently when sample duration and color were correlated than when they were uncorrelated. Overall, subjects matched more frequently when sample duration and color were correlated. The data from both experiments support Wixted's (1989) model, which states that one determinant of choice in a DMTS task is the delay-reduction value of the sample stimulus.  相似文献

During a preliminary training phase, college students were taught to categorize each of their responses accurately in a conditional discrimination task as either correct or incorrect. Next, in the absence of self-reports, subjects acquired conditional discriminations (involving novel stimuli) prerequisite to the formation of two four-member equivalence classes. The self-report procedure was reinstated during probe sessions that tested for untrained relations indicative of equivalence class formation. Interspersed trials involving trained relations provided a positive control, and trials with no class-consistent comparison provided a negative control. Eight of 10 subjects demonstrated equivalence class formation; all accurately reported their performance on trained relations and on trials with no class-consistent comparison. Subjects also reported their performance on most untrained (emergent) relations accurately, but in several instances self-reports indicated failure or uncertainty despite nearly perfect emergent-relations performance. These inconsistencies add to a growing body of literature that suggests there are differences between individual types of emergent relations. We suggest that the present procedure may be helpful in understanding these differences and other equivalence-related effects.  相似文献

According to a diffusion generalization model, time discrimination is determined by the frequency and recency of preceding intervals of time. A procedure for studying rapid timing was used to investigate whether pigeons' wait-time responses were sensitive to these factors. In Experiment 1 the number (two or eight) and spacing (consecutive or far apart) of 5-s interfood intervals (called impulses) intercalated in a series of 15-s interfood intervals (nonimpulses) were studied. Experiment 2 was identical to the first but the interfood intervals were increased by a factor of three. Overall, impulses shortened wait times in the next interfood interval. However, several impulses occurring in succession extended the localized effect of an impulse: Wait times following a set of eight-close impulses were slow to recover to preimpulse levels. The results show that linear waiting is only an approximation to the dynamic process, and a process that is sensitive to events in an animal's remote past, such as the diffusion generalization model, provides a better account of rapid timing effects.  相似文献

采用命名任务探讨了正字法深度对汉字词读音时间的影响。结果发现,(1)正字法深度对汉字词的读音时间有重要影响。对于高频字,汉字的读音反应时的顺序(由快到慢)是规则形声字、象形字、会意字和不规则形声字,但规则形声字、象形字、会意字之间的差异没有达到显著水平,只有规则形声字与不规则形声字之间差异显著。但在低频时,规则形声字与会意字、不规则的形声字,象形字与不规则的形声字的读音反应时的差异均达到显著水平。(2)与单音词相比,多音词的反应时间长,多音词的优势反应与非优势反应的读音时间也存在着显著的差异。(3)高频时,多音双字词与单音双字词差异不显著,低频时双音双字词与单音双字词差异显著,从而显示了语境与词频的双重影响。整个研究表明,对于表意的汉字而言,正字法深度也是存在的,并对汉字词的读音时间产生重要的影响。  相似文献
