Prior work suggests that follower and leader risk orientation is positively associated with follower creativity. We suggest that this view is oversimplified and propose that follower creativity can be stimulated when leader and follower have diverging risk orientations. We, therefore, apply a configurational approach to creativity, evaluating varying combinations of leader and follower risk orientation on follower creativity. Across two field studies, we demonstrate that (a) follower creativity increases as leaders’ and followers’ risk orientations become more discrepant (i.e., incongruent); (b) follower creativity is higher when leader–follower dyads are congruent at moderate levels of risk orientation compared to congruence at the extremes (i.e., low and high levels); (c) follower‐experienced intellectual stimulation mediates the relationship between leader–follower risk orientation incongruence and congruence and follower creativity; and (d) that leader authority openness moderates the indirect effect of leader–follower risk orientation incongruence on creativity via follower‐experienced intellectual stimulation. Theoretical and practical implications specific to creativity and leader–follower relationships are discussed. 相似文献

Gain or non‐loss: The message matching effect of regulatory focus on moral judgements of other‐orientation lies 下载免费PDF全文
Previous studies found that individuals with promotion focus are more likely to be persuaded by messages framed in terms of gain‐related words; individuals with prevention focus are more likely to be persuaded by messages framed in terms of loss‐related words. This is known as the message matching effect of regulatory focus. The present study extended this effect into the field of moral judgement of other‐orientation lies. Two experiments were conducted, revealing that (a) individuals with promotion focus judged gain‐framed other‐orientation lies to be more moral, while individuals with prevention focus judged non‐loss‐framed other‐orientation lies to be more moral; and (b) the subjective processing fluency had a partial mediating role in the message matching effect. The Good Behavior Game (GBG) is a classwide group contingency shown to reduce disruptive student behavior. We examined the feasibility of training young students to lead the GBG in one first‐grade and three kindergarten classes. We also examined teacher preference for teacher‐led GBG, student‐led GBG, or no GBG using a concurrent chains procedure. We successfully trained students in all classes to lead the GBG, and the GBG reduced disruptive behavior regardless of who implemented it. Preference for who implemented the game varied across teachers. Results of this study suggest that students as young as kindergarten age can be trained to implement the GBG and that teacher preference should be taken into account when determining how classwide interventions are to be implemented. 相似文献

Implications for multicultural pedagogy and assisting African American clients with intersecting identity issues are discussed. Self-determined work motivation predicts important job outcomes, such as job satisfaction [Richer, S. F., Blanchard, C., & Vallerand, R. J. (2002). A motivational model of work turnover. Journal of Applied Social Psychology, 32, 2089–2113], but what predicts self-determined work motivation is less fully understood. We tested general causality orientation—specifically autonomy and control orientation—as a predictor of self-determined work motivation, which in turn was expected to predict job satisfaction and identification commitment as job outcomes. Regression analyses confirmed our hypotheses such that autonomy orientation predicted job outcomes via increased self-determined work motivation. Control orientation predicted self-determined work motivation but did not affect either of the two job outcomes. Findings are discussed with respect to the importance of individual differences in understanding job outcomes. 相似文献

The present research examines individual differences in intention initiation. State- compared to action-oriented persons show an intention superiority effect for the cognitive representation of intentions [Goschke, T., & Kuhl, J. (1993). Representation of intentions: Persisting activation in memory. Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 19, 1211–1226], but at the same time have a paradoxical deficit in initiating and carrying them out under demanding conditions. The present two experiments focus on intention initiation. Experiment 1 used a modified event-based paradigm of prospective memory, pre-cuing prospective actions with words varying in association to the target word. State-oriented participants had longer latencies in initiating uncued compared to precued actions under low-positive affect (high listlessness). In Experiment 2, we used a key-pressing task under high vs. low cognitive load (uncompleted vs. completed intention). State-oriented participants under high load had longer latencies when they chose by themselves which of two goals to pursue, compared to an External-Cue condition. Action-oriented participants showed efficient performance in each experiment. The intention-initiation deficit of state-oriented participants was related to higher levels of listlessness (first experiment) or to high load (second experiment) suggesting that motivational factors interact with volitional impairments. The graded response model (GRM), which is based on item response theory (IRT), was used to evaluate the psychometric properties
of the inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms in an ADHD rating scale. To accomplish this, parents and teachers
completed the DSM-IV ADHD Rating Scale (DARS; Gomez et al., Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, 40, 265–274, 1999) for a group of 1,475 primary school-aged children. The results for the discrimination parameters showed that
all symptoms for both groups of respondents were generally good for discriminating their respective latent traits. For virtually
all symptoms, their threshold values showed moderate to large increases in the level of the latent trait at each subsequent
response dichotomy, with the symptoms being especially good at representing the appropriate traits from mean to moderately
high trait levels. The item information function values for most symptoms indicated reasonable reliability from, approximately,
the mean trait levels to moderately high trait levels. These findings indicate good psychometric properties for the parent
and teacher ratings of the DARS. The implications of the findings for the use of the DARS and other similar scales are discussed. 相似文献

Research on children of lesbian parents has suggested that such children are developing well, but questions have been raised
about their gender development. In this study, we explored associations among parental sexual orientation, parental gender-related
attitudes, parental division of labor, and children’s gender development. Participants were 66 preschool children and their
132 parents from the East Coast of the United States. Thirty-three families were headed by lesbian and 33 by heterosexual
couples. Parents who divided paid and unpaid labor more unequally had children whose occupational aspirations were also more
traditional. Measures of children’s gender development were generally unrelated to parental sexual orientation. Parents’ attitudes
and behaviors were more strongly associated with children’s gender development than was parental sexual orientation. 相似文献

This study analyses the masculinity and femininity in a Spanish sample made up of 164 adult workers (88 men and 76 women).
To be specific, the objective was to demonstrate whether age and level of education were related to differences in masculinity
and femininity, both when comparing between the two genders and when the comparisons are made within the same gender. The
results indicated that the two variables predicted differences in women, but not in men. There were only differences between
genders in masculinity and femininity between the ages of 20 and 39, and when the level of education is low. The results appear
to support Hofstede’s hypothesis that there are fewer differences between genders in gender role orientation in feminine countries. 相似文献
