This study examined the association between the big five personality dimensions and creativity through the moderation of motivational goal orientation. One hundred and ninety students engaged in full‐time employment completed questionnaires, which were used to assess the variables of interest. Regression moderation analyses supported some of the expected hypotheses. The associations between the big five dimensions and creativity were moderated by learning motivational goal orientation. Individuals high in extroversion, emotional stability, and low in conscientiousness, are most creative when they are oriented toward learning. In addition, openness fully predicted creativity, without the moderation of goal orientation. The results are discussed in terms of the interactional nature of personality and goal orientation theory. 相似文献

Four studies examined the relationship between political orientation and data selection. In each study participants were given the opportunity to select data from a large data set addressing a specific issue: the justness of the world (Pilot Study), the efficacy of social safety nets (Studies 1–3), and the benefits of social media (Study 3). Participants were given no knowledge of what the data would tell them in advance. More conservative participants selected less data, and in Study 3 this relationship was partly accounted for by an increased tendency to question the value of science as a way of learning about the world. Thinking about Community Psychology primarily as a science may make it harder, rather than easier, to embrace certain aspects of the field to which we are deeply committed, but usually fall outside the conventional meaning of doing science. While community psychologists use (and expand) the tools of science, this is different than saying that Community Psychology is only, or even primarily, a science. The field is just as much social criticism as it is science. The purpose of this study was to compare the gender role orientation and gender role classification of female and male athletes to those of their nonathlete counterparts. A total of 463 athletes and 378 nonathletes completed the Bem Sex Role Inventory. The findings indicated that athletes score higher on the masculinity and femininity subscales than do nonathletes. Men had higher scores on masculinity than did women, whereas women had higher scores on femininity than did men. In addition, both men and women athletes were mostly classified in the androgynous category. These findings are discussed in relation to the competitive sport environment and Turkish society. 相似文献

Moral reasoning of 57 (Time 1) and 59 (Time 2) nursing, social-work and law-enforcement students was investigated in terms
of care and justice reasoning about hypothetical and real-life dilemmas. The analysis methods were the Ethic of Care Interview,
the Moral Judgment Interview, Lyons' Moral Orientation Scheme and Wark and Krebs' classification of real-life dilemmas. The
type of dilemma predicted moral orientation usage. Prosocial dilemmas pulled for care and antisocial dilemmas for justice
orientation. Level of justice reasoning varied according to the type of dilemma. Real-life care reasoning was consistent with
participants' competence, with the exception of transgression-type dilemmas at Time 2. Levels of care and justice reasoning
were highly correlated with each other. These results underscore the importance of the dilemma type and suggest that care
reasoning is a significant part of real life morality. The study recommends the ECI as a new model to account for real-life

Strategies for dealing with problematic student behavior are an important part of the teacher role. Relations between teachers' perceptions of control over children's classroom behavior, teacher orientation and teachers' strategy preferences when confronted with externalizing child behaviors were investigated. Eighty-six primary school teachers, 91% of all first grade teachers in one municipality in Sweden, completed a questionnaire. Disciplinary strategy preferences were measured through vignettes describing externalizing child behaviors, with response alternatives modeled after the Parental Discipline Interview ( Scarr, Pinkerton & Eisenberg, 1991 ). Perceived control was measured with a subscale applied to teachers from the Parental Locus of Control Scale ( Campis, Lyman & Prentice-Dunn, 1986 ). Newly constructed measures of teacher orientation were used. The results indicated that perceived low control over one's classroom situation and a custodial teacher orientation were associated with preferences for authoritarian strategies (firm verbal reprimands, physical restraint) and perceived high control and a humanistic teacher orientation were associated with non-authoritarian strategies (e.g. reasoning with students). Teachers' strategy preferences and associations between perceived control, teacher orientation and strategy preferences were to some extent validated in relations to observed teacher behavior in a subsample of the classrooms. 相似文献

There are several reasons for the current prominence of global health issues. Among the most important is the growing awareness
that some risks to health are global in scope and can only be countered by global cooperation. In addition, human rights discourse
and, more generally, the articulation of a coherent cosmopolitan ethical perspective that acknowledges the importance of all
persons, regardless of where they live, provide a normative basis for taking global health seriously as a moral issue. In
this paper we begin the task of translating the vague commitment to doing something to improve global health into a coherent
set of more determinate obligations. One chief conclusion of our inquiry is that the responsibilities of states regarding
global health are both more determinate and more extensive than is usually assumed. We also argue, however, that institutional
innovation will be needed to achieve a more comprehensive, fair distribution of concrete responsibilities regarding global
health and to provide effective mechanisms for holding various state and nonstate actors accountable for fulfilling them. 相似文献
