It was investigated whether commonly used factor score estimates lead to the same reproduced covariance matrix of observed variables. This was achieved by means of Schönemann and Steiger’s (1976) regression component analysis, since it is possible to compute the reproduced covariance matrices of the regression components corresponding to different factor score estimates. It was shown that Thurstone’s, Ledermann’s, Bartlett’s, Anderson-Rubin’s, McDonald’s, Krijnen, Wansbeek, and Ten Berge’s, as well as Takeuchi, Yanai, and Mukherjee’s score estimates reproduce the same covariance matrix. In contrast, Harman’s ideal variables score estimates lead to a different reproduced covariance matrix. 相似文献

The sum score is often used to order respondents on the latent trait measured by the test. Therefore, it is desirable that under the chosen model the sum score stochastically orders the latent trait. It is known that unlike dichotomous item response theory (IRT) models, most polytomous IRT models do not imply stochastic ordering. It is unknown, however, (1) whether stochastic ordering is often or rarely violated and (2) whether violations yield a serious problem for practical data analysis. These are the central issues of this paper. First, some unanswered questions that pertain to polytomous IRT models implying stochastic ordering were investigated. Second, simulation studies were conducted to evaluate stochastic ordering in practical situations. In a longitudinal natural language development study in Germany, the acquisition of verbal symbols for present persons, absent persons, inanimate things and the mother–toddler dyad was investigated. Following the notion that verbal referent use is more developed in ostensive contexts, symbolic play situations were coded for verbal person reference by means of noun and pronoun use. Depending on attachment classifications at twelve months of age, effects of attachment classification and maternal language input were studied up to 36 months in four time points. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that, except for mother absence, maternal verbal referent input rates at 17 and 36 months were stronger predictors for all referent types than any of the attachment organizations, or any other social or biological predictor variable. Attachment effects accounted for up to 9.8% of unique variance proportions in the person reference variables. Perinatal and familial measures predicted person references dependent on reference type. The results of this investigation indicate that mother-reference, self-reference and thing-reference develop in similar quantities measured from the 17-month time point, but are dependent of attachment quality. 相似文献

Schizophrenia risk alleles are expected to mediate effects on cognitive task performance, and aspects of personality including schizotypy, in nonclinical populations. We investigated how 32 of the best-validated schizophrenia risk alleles, singly and as summed genetic risk, were related to measures of schizotypal personality and measures of two aspects of cognitive performance, verbal skills (vocabulary) and visual-spatial skills (mental rotation), in healthy individuals. Summed genetic risk score was not associated with levels of total schizotypy or its three main subscales. Similarly, genotypic variation at none of the individual risk loci was related to cognitive performance measures, after correction for multiple tests. Higher overall genetic risk score was, however, associated with lower performance on the mental rotation test in males, with a broad set of loci contributing to this effect. These results imply that there is a lack of linear, genetically-based continuity connecting schizotypal cognition with the expression of schizophrenia itself, and indicate that, for males, higher genetic risk of schizophrenia exerts negative effects on visual-spatial skills, as measured by mental rotation. 相似文献

Considering that the absence of measurement error in research is a rare phenomenon and its effects can be dramatic, we examine the impact of measurement error on propensity score (PS) analysis used to minimize selection bias in behavioral and social observational studies. A Monte Carlo study was conducted to explore the effects of measurement error on the treatment effect and balance estimates in PS analysis across seven different PS conditioning methods. In general, the results indicate that even low levels of measurement error in the covariates lead to substantial bias in estimates of treatment effects and concomitant reduction in confidence interval coverage across all methods of conditioning on the PS. 相似文献
