The Role of Fear in Our Love of God: A Lutheran Perspective

Abstract : Lutheran Christians in particular have been taught in the Catechism to “fear and love God.” This article questions the assumption that in a contemporary context, fear and love can helpfully co‐exist, examining the different ways in which “fear of God” is a challenging concept for twenty‐first‐century Christians to understand. The article concludes with suggestions for how “fear of God” might be re‐interpreted and re‐articulated in a constructive way, leading to a more meaningful Christian life in the world today.

Trinity,Love, and Pastoral Mirroring

This paper focuses on the positive mirroring (admiration, acceptance, and approval) that Heinz Kohut posits as the primary healing agency in work with clients with narcissistic personality disorder. Donald Capps has demonstrated the pastoral significance of Kohut's theory. Capps' work is extended through an analysis of the role love plays in mirroring. It is suggested that mirror love has agapic, erotic, and philial elements. The loving action of the counselor is viewed as an image of the love of the triune God.     

由弗氏人格理论解析现代婚姻

弗氏人格理论认为人格由本我,自我和超我组成,这三者是一个动态互动系统要求保持协调平衡状态,但本者各自的运行原则又不相同,故在一定条件刺激下可能产生心理问题;完整婚姻包括性爱、婚姻本身和爱情三要素,三者跟弗氏人格三结构一样也分别遵循快乐原则、现实原则和理想原则,现代的婚姻形式也表现出了种种问题。本文欲从弗氏人格理论寻求解析现代婚姻现状的根据。

从敬畏生命的心理认知的哲学、人性层面,从传统文化对人的气质、性格塑造的分析路径,反思医学在终极人文关怀境界的历史性延伸中对待生命的态度与方式,反省医学如何体现生命的悲剧性与超越性、自然性与神圣性、有限与无限……在人文关怀的医学本位意义上回应了医学从哪里来和到哪里去的既远也近的具有普世救赎宗教情怀的深情思考。

Theology is not Mere Sociology: A Theological Reflection on the Reception of the Christian Religion in Mainland China

Abstract :  Post‐Maoist China retains its loyalty to Marxist principles; yet voices are being heard that interpret religion much more positively. Both government spokespersons and Religious Studies scholars measure the value of religion according to its social function. Such a criterion of evaluation fails to take account of what is essential to Christian theology, namely, appeal to divine transcendence. Yet, Christian theology in the tradition of the Lutheran Reformation begins with transcendence and turns toward human responsibility for the world through loving the neighbor. This may mark a common cause between Chinese sociology of religion and Christian commitments to social well‐being.

This article summarizes Balint's thoughts on the fundamental problems of psychoanalytic technique and their links with libidinal development as conceived by him.     

Michael Balint: An Overview

Balint's important work extended over a period of 40 years in two directions; firstly the development of individual sexuality, and secondly, the development of object relationships, together with their relationship to psychoanalytical technique. He introduced the concept of primary love and was one of the pioneers in the thinking of the interdependence of mother and infant. He extended Ferenczi's work on therapeutic regression, introducing the concepts, among others, of benign and malignant regression, the basic fault, and the states of ocnophilia and philobatism. His applied psychoanalytic work is world famous, particularly the Balint groups for general practitioners and similar groups for marital therapists, social workers, and psychosexual counselors.
