Studies found that subliminal primes can be associated with specific tasks to facilitate task performance, and such learning is highly adaptive and generalizable. Meanwhile, conditioning studies suggest that aversive/reward learning and generalization actually occur at the semantic level. The current study shows that prime–task associations can also be generalized to novel word/neighbour primes from the same semantic category, and this occurs without contingency awareness. Previous studies have counterintuitively suggested that both the learning of task priming and the semantic priming of word neighbours depend on the lack of visibility. Here, we show that semantic generalization indeed depends on reduced visibility, but cannot occur subliminally. The current study shows for the first time that semantic learning and generalization can occur without any emotional or motivational factors, and that semantic priming can occur for arbitrary-linked stimuli in a context completely devoid of semantics. 相似文献

We explore different ways in which the human visual system can adapt for perceiving and categorizing the environment. There are various accounts of supervised (categorical) and unsupervised perceptual learning, and different perspectives on the functional relationship between perception and categorization. We suggest that common experimental designs are insufficient to differentiate between hypothesized perceptual learning mechanisms and reveal their possible interplay. We propose a relatively underutilized way of studying potential categorical effects on perception, and we test the predictions of different perceptual learning models using a two-dimensional, interleaved categorization-plus-reconstruction task. We find evidence that the human visual system adapts its encodings to the feature structure of the environment, uses categorical expectations for robust reconstruction, allocates encoding resources with respect to categorization utility, and adapts to prevent miscategorizations. 相似文献

In the preprocessing, baseline correction is implemented to analyze the pre-stimuli, combining ERP to mark the event related potential, studying the time-locked only behavior. Z-score transform, coherence and spec trum are calculated and analyzed in the functional connectivity analysis.In addition to the functional analysis, Bayes Optimizer evaluates the neuro imaging according to the hierarchical Bayes. The introduction of the application is described from both user and developer’s prospects. Results: Introduction of both user and developers aspects, on its modules from pre-processing, functional analysis and results visualization and evaluation is conducted with one specific clinical data case, including the correlation is higher especially on gamma band and the MVAR coherence on the whole source space depicting the relation between different regions, especially on somatosensory (compared by thalamus) when stimulated by finger activity, phase-lock property of the E/MEG signal and etc. Compared to a manual selection, the scaling parameter prediction can be improved with support vector machine (SVM). The evaluation results with Bayes Optimization, location prediction is superior in the somatosensory area and in the thalamus, the total reconstructed source space is larger, one of the realization of cognitive system comparing different kernels and classifiers. The SVM and discriminant classifier gives similar results evaluating the dipole localization and the parameter choice related as well to the shape parameter, noise level, hyperprior and etc.ConclusionApproaches of Brain Q are found to be suitable for pre-processing for the EEG and MEG data. The system is capable of functional analysis including coherence and spectral related computation. Machine learning techniques are conducted as well to analyze and evaluate the result of the dipole reconstruction and help to predict the better model parameters and the localization of the origin dipoles. A case on finger stimulation clinical data is conducted and the results of the analysis temporarily and spatially manifests its functionality for users and potential extensions for developers. 相似文献

New Caledonian crows are the most proficient non-hominin tool manufacturers but the cognition behind their remarkable skills
remains largely unknown. Here we investigate if they attend to the functional properties of the tools that they routinely
use in the wild. Pandanus tools have natural barbs along one edge that enable them to function as hooking implements when
the barbs face backwards from the working tip. In experiment 1 we presented eight crows with either a non-functional (‘upside-down’)
or a functional pandanus tool in a baited hole. Four of the crows never flipped the tools. The behaviour of the four flipping
birds suggested that they had a strategy of flipping a tool when it was not working. Observations of two of the eight crows
picking up pandanus tools at feeding tables in the wild supported the lack of attention to barb direction. In experiment 2
we gave six of the eight crows a choice of either a barbed or a barbless pandanus tool. Five of the crows chose tools at random,
which further supported the findings in experiment 1 that the crows paid little or no attention to the barbs. In contrast,
a third experiment found that seven out of eight crows flipped non-functional stick tools significantly more than functional
ones. Our findings indicate that the crows do not consistently attend to the presence or orientation of barbs on pandanus
tools. Successful pandanus tool use in the wild seems to rely on behavioural strategies formed through associative learning,
including procedural knowledge about the sequence of operations required to make a successful pandanus tool.

The view that learning is central to well-being is widely held and the workplace is an important setting in which learning takes place. Evaluations of the effectiveness of well-being interventions in work settings are commonplace, but to date, there has been no systematic review of the effectiveness of learning interventions with regard to their impact on well-being. The review synthesizes evidence from 41 intervention studies, and although no studies report a negative impact on well-being, 14 show no effect on well-being, with 27 studies having a positive impact. We classify the studies according to the primary purpose of the learning intervention: to develop personal resources for well-being through learning; to develop professional capabilities through learning; to develop leadership skills through learning; and to improve organizational effectiveness through organizational-level learning. Although there is an abundance of workplace learning interventions, few are evaluated from a well-being perspective despite the commonly held assumption that learning yields positive emotional and psychological outcomes. The evidence indicates an important gap in our evaluation of and design of workplace learning interventions and their impact on well-being, beyond those focusing on personal resources. This raises important theoretical and practical challenges concerning the relationship between learning and well-being in the context of professional capability enhancement, leadership capability and organizational learning. 相似文献
