We report an abnormally high residual dislocation density in aluminium in an Al/Ti/Al laminate annealed at 873 K for seven days. The residual dislocation density reaches 7.5 × 1014 m?2, higher than that in aluminum after severe plastic deformation processes such as accumulative roll bonding and high-pressure torsion. It is proposed that the high residual dislocation density may result from obstruction of the movement of TiAl3 nanoparticles by the grain boundary and Ti atoms conglomerating at vacancies distributed in the aluminium matrix at a high temperature for a sufficient time to allow a relatively stable crystal.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A multiscale crystallographic texture architecture in a surface gradient nanostructured Al-Cu-Mg alloy after surface sliding friction treatment (SSFT) has been revealed by a combination of electron backscatter diffraction and precession electron diffraction (PED)-assisted transmission electron microscopy (TEM) orientation mapping. Accompanying a grain structure variation from lamellar coarse grains to equiaxed nanograins, the major texture components evolve from brass {110}<112> in the coarse-grain matrix, Goss {110}<001> at a depth of ~80?μm, E {111}<011> and F {111}<112> at a depth of ~20?μm, to a mixture of rotated cube {001}<110>, E and F in the topmost surface layer. The through-thickness textural development and evolution are attributed to the cyclic loading of concurrent shear and compression during the SSFT processing. The PED-assisted orientation mapping shows good capability in mapping severe plastic-deformation-induced nanostructures with large residual strains and high defect density.  相似文献

Four monolithic metallic glasses (MMGs) with different plasticities varying from brittle to ductile behavior under unconstrained loading were subjected to small punch testing. All specimens undergo large plastic deformation with multiple cobweb-like shear bands under these conditions. The process of shear band evolution was carefully controlled and investigated. Plasticity of MMGs is characterized by equivalent plastic strain ε* (product of shear band density and critical shear offset). Thus, this article provides an experimental basis for a better understanding of the shear band evolution during plastic deformation of MMGs.  相似文献

In spite of many superior high-temperature properties of intermetallics, it has been difficult to understand their intrinsic brittleness. To eliminate or improve the embrittlement, the conventional alloying technique based on the trial-and-error method is still the most effective and practical. However, it remains a main challenge for both physicists and materials scientists to provide either an alloying principle or a deep insight into its toughening mechanism at an atomic or electronic level. This letter reports a simple experimental approach that uses work function (WF) as a sensitive indicator of the role of alloying in changing mechanical behavior. NiAl is chosen as a typical example. It is found that with the addition of Cr and Ce, the ductility of NiAl increases significantly. Such an increase in ductility corresponds to a concomitant decrease in the WF, which is attributed to a change in the nature of the atomic bonding or in the electronic structure induced by the alloying. This fundamental understanding on the embrittlement nature of NiAl could provide some alloying guidelines or principles for other intermetallics.  相似文献

Experimental tests of strain-gradient plasticity theory rely on studies of the size effect (smaller is stronger) in micromechanical testing. The plastic strain gradient is varied by varying the size of the specimen. This confounds the direct effects of the size and the effects of the strain gradient. We propose experiments on foil sandwich structures in which these parameters are separated. Preliminary results suggest that it is the foil thickness that determines the strength, not the strain gradient.  相似文献

Supplier selection is an important process for companies in the plastic sector due to its influence on firm performance and competitiveness. For a proper selection, a number of criteria from different aspects need to be considered by decision makers. Yet, as in different fields, because there are numerous criteria and alternatives to be considered in the plastic industry, choosing an appropriate multicriteria decision‐making approach has become a critical step for selecting suppliers. Therefore, the aim of this research is to define the most suitable supplier of high‐density polyethylene through the integration of powerful multicriteria decision‐making methods. For this purpose, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) is initially applied to define initial weights of factors and subfactors under uncertainty, followed by the use of decision‐making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) to evaluate interrelations between the elements of the hierarchy. Then, after combining FAHP and DEMATEL to calculate the final contributions of both factors and subfactors on the basis of interdependence, the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution is used to assess the supplier alternatives. In addition, this paper also explores the differences between the judgments of decision makers for both AHP and DEMATEL methods. To do these, a case study is presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.  相似文献

The proportion of plastic bottles that consumers placed in appropriate recycling receptacles rather than trash bins was examined across 3 buildings on a university campus. We extended previous research on interventions to increase recycling by controlling the number of recycling receptacles across conditions and by examining receptacle location without the use of posted signs. Manipulating the appearance or number of recycling bins in common areas did not increase recycling. Consumers recycled substantially more plastic bottles when the recycling bins were located in classrooms.  相似文献

This investigation demonstrates a way to innovatively modify the ferritic microstructure at a local scale, particularly at the failure prone area such as Charpy V-notch (CVN) root. Tensile pre-strain (PS) up to 6% and 12% were employed before annealing (An) the samples at 650°C for 15?minutes. Ferrite grain size increased sharply and gradually (along the distance ahead of the notch root) within the microstructurally modified region in 6–12% pre-strained and annealed samples, respectively. The critical strain which promotes strain-induced boundary migration (SIBM), was found to be 0.1 which resulted in abnormally coarse ferrite grains.  相似文献
