This study tested the effect of semantically-induced thoughts of love on chivalrous helping. A field setting of four hundred
and one participants was divided into two groups. One group was interviewed and asked to retrieve the memory of a love episode,
and the second group, the control group, was asked to retrieve a piece of music that they love. The two groups encountered
another confederate, who inadvertently lost a stack of compact discs when they neared each other. The results demonstrated
that participants were more helpful when they were male, when the person in need of help was female, and when they were induced

For young people aged 16–24, the transition from adolescence to young adulthood involves predictable and unpredictable changes
and they may encounter challenges in their roles, relationships, and responsibilities. Young people with mental health difficulties
face additional challenges as they and their families navigate this transition. As a result, families commonly experience
anxiety, uncertainty, frustration, and turbulent relationships. After learning to become advocates to secure appropriate services
for their children, in late adolescence and young adulthood, parents are likely to find themselves excluded from their children’s
treatment planning and services. This article reports findings from a recent qualitative study of the experiences and perceptions
of 42 family members supporting their children with mental health difficulties during the transition years. Family members
described their goals for their children, their frustrations trying to access appropriate services for their children, and
their strategies to provide the support their children needed. Recommendations are for service providers to connect transition
age youth with practical assistance and supportive mentoring relationships. Family members requested service providers to
consider them as resources and potential collaborators in supporting young people with mental health difficulties to live

This paper discusses the process and merits of a post‐structuralist approach to participant observation and describes the use of this research strategy in evaluating a community based ‘stopping violence’ programme. While the participant observation research strategy is commonly employed as a ‘process evaluation’ method (Rossi and Freeman, 1993 ) it's role within a distinctly post‐structuralist programme is a novel application of a well‐established research strategy. This study looked at how the social constellations in school classes relate to bullying problems. Using peer-evaluation questionnaires, the peer networks of children with different participant roles (such as victim, bully, assistant of bully, reinforcer of bully, defender of victim, outsider) were explored. The subjects were 459 sixth-grade-children (218 girls, 241 boys), aged 11 to 12 years, in Finland. The main findings were: 1) Children who tended to behave in either similar or complementary participant roles in situations of bullying formed networks with each other. The individual child's behavior in bullying situations was strongly connected to how the members of his/her network behaved in such situations. 2) Bullies, assistants, and reinforcers belonged to larger networks than did defenders, outsiders and victims. 3) Children outside the networks were most often victims. It was concluded that behavior in bullying situations can be said to be one feature around which the peer networks in school classes are organized. Thus prevention, as well as intervention strategies against bullying should focus not only on individual children, but also on the wider social context of the class. 相似文献

An important question often asked when counselors-in-training read textbook discussion of gender role stereotypes, especially of older work such as the classic study by the Brovermans and their colleagues, is “Haven’t these biases been eliminated or at least reduced?” The current study was designed to replicate the work of the Brovermans and their colleagues to answer that specific question and to determine how current counselors-in-training perceive healthy adult women, healthy adult men, and healthy adults. As in the prior research, initial ratings of the social desirability of traditional gender role stereotypes were conducted, and the findings showed many similarities to past research. That investigation was followed by a modified Stereotype Questionnaire, based on the original work of Rosenkrantz, Vogel, Bee, I. Broverman, and D. M. Broverman (1968). Healthy adult women were found to be significantly different from healthy adult men as well as from healthy adults. In addition, the results suggest that there have been changes in counselors’ perceptions of healthy adults. This study investigated factors of conflicting expectations and roles of the current psychology practitioners, as well as how these factors were associated with the founding principles of the scientist-practitioner model. Data were gathered from ten published journal articles and then interpreted using an abridged meta-analysis methodology. Results revealed: (a) the scientist-practitioner model needs to adapt to survive, preferably with the aim of becoming more versatile; (b) The majority of graduate level clinical psychology training programs are based on a flawed version of the scientist-practitioner model, which renders the training inadequate and ineffective; (c) The identity of clinical psychology should remain firmly grounded in mental health care, and so not encroach on the territory of any other psychological divisions.
