The price of deceptive behavior: Disliking and lying to people who lie to us

We hypothesized that frequency and quality of deception influences how people perceive those who lie to them and that people subsequently increase deceptive behavior as a consequence of being lied to. In Study 1, participants were covertly videotaped conversing with a partner. Following the conversation, participants evaluated partners, and partners reviewed the videotape, identifying deceptions that they told. Findings indicated that partner’s frequency of deception was inversely related to likeability. In Study 2, participants watched a videotape of a confederate who appeared to produce one or four exaggerated or minimized lies, and then evaluated the confederate. Participants and confederates subsequently engaged in a conversation. When participants witnessed either one exaggerated lie, one or four minimal lies, or no lies they trusted and liked the confederate more than when witnessing four exaggerated lies. Moreover, participants increased their own use of deception as a function of the severity and quantity of confederate’s lies.     

Taxicab Correspondence Analysis

Taxicab correspondence analysis is based on the taxicab singular value decomposition of a contingency table, and it shares some similar properties with correspondence analysis. It is more robust than the ordinary correspondence analysis, because it gives uniform weights to all the points. The visual map constructed by taxicab correspondence analysis has a larger sweep and clearer perspective than the map obtained by correspondence analysis. Two examples are provided. Punishing Those Responsible for the Prison Abuses at Abu Ghraib: The Influence of the Negative Reciprocity Norm (NRN)

The negative reciprocity norm (NRN) is the personal moral code specifying retaliation as a proper response to wrongdoing ( Eisenberger, Lynch, Aselage, & Rohdieck, 2004 ). We examined the role of negative reciprocity in interpreting and reacting to the prison abuses at Abu Ghraib. Results showed that people who believed that American soldiers behaved wrongly at Abu Ghraib were more likely to view punishing the soldiers responsible as a highly moral response and were less likely to contribute money to a charitable organization that helps American soldiers. These relationships were only present among those highly endorsing the negative reciprocity norm.     

心理健康的测量与评估:大学生与成人及住院病人的纵向横向研究

对国内有关大学生心理问题比一般成人更严重的研究结论提出了质疑。使用总量4268人的样本,应用自编的心理健康评定量表(PHS)进行了纵向与横向研究。研究发现,大学生人群与一般成人同期相比,心理问题并非更严重。5项分量表中3项(抑郁、焦虑、躯体化)成人却明显比大学生人群要高,另外两项(强迫和精神病性)二者没有显著差异。但是,10年后的大学生与10年前的大学生在所有分量表上均见非常显著的差异,说明10年的变迁中,大学生的心理问题有非常明显的增长趋势,日见复杂化,虽然不能说比成人更严重,但是也足够引起我们的高度重视。将不同人群样本的数据按心理障碍严重性进行排列,依次是:住院精神障碍患者、成人、大学生。     

Whorf and Wittgenstein. Language, world view and argumentation

Whorf and Wittgenstein are perhaps the most famous names in linguistics and philosophy associated with the assumption that language plays a decisive role in shaping our view of reality. After a critical discussion of Whorf's linguistic relativity principle I conclude that it is not language as a system, but the use of language according to the rules of language games which connects language thought and world view, especially if some particular usage becomes the commonly accepted norm. This traditional norm also enters argumentative discourse in the form of background assumptions occuring in the premises of arguments. Thus, traditional points of view and prevailing ideologies in a society, even if challenged in discussions, can become reinforced and stabilized. This is illustrated with a critical analysis of the role and function of tautological utterances in argumentative discourse, which only apparently are compelling means of argumentation.     

上海地区青少年道德判断能力测验的编制及常模制定

上海地区青少年道德判断能力测验量表共有四个道德行为故事,分别反映自由与自律、公与私、义与利、平等与公正四对道德冲突中的一对矛盾。常模样本系随机选取上海市区、郊区四所完全中学,每校从初一至高三年级各一个班共1324名学生。常模形式包括总分常模、P分常模和道德判断能力水平等级划分三种。其信度和效度均令人满意。本量表适用于12－17岁青少年学生。     

自我描述问卷上海常模的修订报告

自我描述问卷是一种在国际上被广泛运用的自我概念测量量表,为了使我国的教育和医务工作者也能使用这种测量工具.我们对其进行了引进和修订.并初步制定出上海常模,从试用的结果来看.对我国6-12年级的初高中学生非常适用。分数的分布里常态.对测验结果作各种心理测量学的分析,信度指标：a.全量表的内在稳定性各年级在.92-.96之间,各分量表的内在稳定性在.66-.9文之间。b.各分量表的重测信度为.56-.75.效度指标：a.各分量表之间的相关较低,b.同质性很好,C.三个学业自我概念分量表与学习成绩间有很高的正相关,鉴于以上这些结果,该量表在中国中学生中使用有较高的信度,效度和实用价值。     

儿童适应行为评定量表的编制及城乡区域性常模的制定

儿童适应行为评定量表共有59个项目,分8个分量表和3个因子。为了适应目前我国城乡经济文化尚有较大差异这一特点,本量表分城乡两个版本,并分别制订了本省城市农村两套常模。常模样本在城市按父母文化程度和职业等分层比例取样520名,在农村按父母文化程度等取样400名。常模形式包括分量表百分位常模、因子T 分、适应能力商数及年龄儿童适应行为发展界碑。其信度、效度令人满意。本量表适用3—12岁智力正常或低下儿童。     

行为可见增加利他偏好及其社会规范机制

在不同社会偏好类型中,研究者较为关注利他偏好及其信号功能。本研究探究在独裁者游戏中,决策者的利他偏好如何受到分配方案对接受者可见性的影响。实验1采用行为实验结合计算建模的方法,发现无论在选择或评分条件下,相比于行为不可见,当分配者的行为能够为接受者所见时,分配者都表现出更大程度的利他偏好。此外,相比于评分条件,在选择时人们更加在意分配效率。实验2仅使用选择条件,并操纵社会规范,发现行为可见增加利他偏好的作用依赖于利他的社会规范,当存在非利他社会规范时,行为可见的影响减小。本研究结果表明,在利他社会规范下,当行为对接受者可见时,人们将表现出更多利他偏好。
