Influence of Passive Rotation on the Intonation of the Voice

Seventy-two subjects were randomly drawn across grades K-2 and administered an instrument designed to measure developmental skills within seven skill area categories. A three-way ANOVA, fixed effects model, was used for data analysis. Subjects were blocked by eye color, sex, and grade level for the purpose of investigating the relationship between eye color and sex to self-paced and reactive behaviors. Significant differences were obtained on the main effect of eye color in five of the seven categories examined. There were three significant first order interactions (sex × eye color) and one three-way interaction. The findings support the hypothesis of Worthy that eye color is a dependable predictor of subjects' general behavioral competency area (self-paced or reactive) and adds considerable support for his thesis that self-paced and reactive behaviors are to some degree inherited.     

Cognitive aesthetics of alchemical imagery

Jung's contribution to the understanding of the relevance of psychology to alchemy has become increasingly invalidated by the ahistorical nature of his approach, just as his tendency to ignore the importance of cognitive aesthetics for an improved comprehension of the functions of alchemical images has prevented Jungians from further extending Jung's insight of the importance of alchemy for psychology. This paper explores the history of the development of alchemical illustrations in Western Europe from the 14^th to the 16^th century, tracing the emergent processes over time. It is only when we take into consideration the historical dimension and the aesthetics of alchemical imagery that it becomes possible to demonstrate how the increasing use of certain aesthetic techniques such as the disjunction and recombination of separate metaphorical elements of previous illustrations, the use of compressive combinations and the use of framing devices worked to gradually increase the cognitive function and the symbolical power of the images. If alchemy is still relevant to psychotherapy it is exactly because it helps us to understand the importance of cognitive aesthetics in our approach to the images, metaphors and narratives of our patients.

目前参数估计多采用统计方法,存在耗时长、要求被试样本容量大和项目数多等缺点。本文将BP神经网络和降维法相结合,对GRM的项目参数和考生能力参数进行估计。蒙特卡洛模拟结果显示：（1）不管是人多题少还是题多人少,该网络设计下的参数估计精度都较高;（2）可以应用到多个不同等级评分的参数估计中,甚至是超过15个等级的项目参数,估计精度也较高,这是其他参数估计方法所不可比拟的;（3）运行的时长和统计估计方法相比大大缩减。     

Liturgy and drama: a context of catharsis and transcendence?

This article is concerned with the role of liturgy and drama in the life of the Church and especially with regard to church growth. The assumption that traditional liturgy has only a tangential role in mission is questioned by comparing liturgy and drama and their role in evangelism. Christian worship from the fourth century began to be dramatised; this was a process reinforced by allegorical interpretations of the liturgy. That development and the para-liturgical dramas created from the tenth century onwards were in response to evangelistic needs. Mystery plays, the Holy Week liturgy and popular devotion in medieval Christianity in the West tended to focus on the passion of Christ. They were like tragedy in creating an encounter with death which could lead to catharsis and self-transcendence. Parts of the Holy Week liturgy are looked at in that light. The final section of the article deals with the way the liturgy offers an opportunity for corporate and personal renewal both in terms of inward preparation and outward proclamation of the Easter mystery. In these ways liturgy offers a context for an experience of God and can be seen as having an important role to play in church growth.     

Reentry Needs: Men Who Are Young,Hispanic, Older,or With Mental Illness

Perceptions of the needs for successful reentry among incarcerated men from diverse backgrounds were investigated using phenomenological qualitative methods. Twenty‐nine men serving time in a northeastern U.S. correctional facility, which concentrated on treatment of substance use, participated in four focus groups. Young men found it most important to make personal changes, Hispanic men to maintain personal identity, older men to receive structural support, and men with mental illness to connect with family.     

关于VC-E之间信任的构念维度研究

创业投资家(VC)与创业企业家(E)之间信任已经成为创业研究的热点,但是这一构念的维度尚未得到充分的讨论和研究。本文基于中国VC和E的数据用验证性因子分析和Cronbachα系数验证了信任构念的有效性和可靠性,结果表明:VC-E之间的信任包括谋算性信任、了解性信任和认同性信任三个维度。这一构念符合VC-E之间关系的多维度特点。     

Perceived motivational climate and unit cohesion: The case of French soldiers in training

Using a correlational design, this exploratory research investigates the relationships between soldiers’ perceptions of the motivational climate created by platoon leaders and unit cohesion in a French military sample. Conducted among 257 soldiers, the findings indicate that new recruits perceive motivational climate as significantly more task- than ego-involved. Moreover, multiple regressions show that a task-involving motivational climate predicts higher measures of cohesion than does an ego-involving motivational climate. Implications for the professionalization of military forces and exercising command in training are discussed.
