The purpose of this article is to review and comment on the book The Passion of the Lord: African American Reflections. Edited by James A. Noel and Matthew V. Johnson, and published by Facets (an imprint of Fortress Press: Minneapolis), the book explores the unique perspective of African American thought in relation to the story of the Passion of Christ, and the cultural aesthetics which allow Christ’s suffering on the cross to become a powerful agent of spiritual strength, hope, love, and faith. This article records one African American man’s deep personal engagement of, and resonance to, the material as he validates, affirms the important insights of the seven theologians presented. Through personal observation and experience, poetry and relevant cultural idioms, the author honors work which, ultimately, contributes to a vitally important self-understanding of who African Americans are now, where they are now, and how they have come to be the people they are now in America.

The paper describes our experience of teaching analytical psychology to a group of graduates of the East European Institute of Psychoanalysis in St Petersburg, our developing partnership as we struggled to teach and learn, each with our own assumptions, preconceptions and projections about the other, and the emotional impact of our radically different social, intellectual and political histories. We had to be affected to become effective. It draws on contemporary Jungian ideas to unpack the interpersonal dynamics involved when there are culturally different styles of learning, which created a complicated transference/countertransference matrix. We believe we have by now witnessed a process of individuation among our students and at the same time they too have witnessed some change and growth in us. 相似文献

RESUMENLa autora comienza explicando que el conflicto entre psicólogos de la personalidad respecto a la permanencia o cambio -identificados respectivamente con individuo y situación- no tendría porqué haber sido así, puesto que las personas cambian y algunas situaciones permanecen. Coincide con Bem y Allen en que hay más consistencia de la que los teóricos situacionales han señalado y en que el conflicto consistencia-variabilidad es una falsa dicotomía, que ellos sitúan entre enfoques nomotéticos e idiográficos en vez de entre individuo y situación. Se resalta del trabajo de Bem y Allen que ofrece soluciones y abre nuevas vías de investigación. Respecto al de Ben y Funder, destaca la posibilidad de clasificar situaciones indicando las conductas que tienden a elicitar en diferentes individuos-tipo. La viabilidad de este enfoque se pone a prueba en tres situaciones experimentales diferentes, de las cuales la autora comenta la primera -en la que se estudia el comportamiento de niños en situación de demora en la gratificación- con relación a sus propios trabajos. The chemical stabilities of molecules are determined by their LUMO–HOMO energy gaps. For solids, the analogues of these are their energy band gaps. However, solids are aggregates of molecules, so an energy alone cannot characterize their stabilities. An intensive parameter is needed. Such a parameter is the gap energy per molecular volume. The author has coined the name ‘bond modulus’ for this parameter because it tends to be proportional to elastic moduli and it has the same dimensions. It applies primarily to covalent solids with localized bonding. It is proportional to chemical hardnesses and bulk moduli, as well as octahedral shear moduli and inverse polarizabilities. 相似文献

By eliminating the effect of the magnetic moment arising from the magnetic crystalline anisotropy, the effect of the thermoelectric magnetic force on the array of dendrites during directional solidification of Al–35?wt%Cu and Al-40?wt%Cu alloys in a high magnetic field has been investigated experimentally. The results indicate that the dendrite array is essentially destroyed, a result that could have general significance for understanding the processes involved in the solidification of alloys in a magnetic field. 相似文献

It is reported that the application of a high magnetic field is capable of inducing the formation of twinned dendrites during directional solidification of Al–4.5wt%Cu alloy. Numerical results reveal that a unidirectional thermoelectric magnetic force acts on tilted dendrites during directional solidification under a magnetic field. This force should be responsible for the formation of twinned dendrites. The work may initiate a new method for inducing twinned dendrites in Al-based alloys via an applied high magnetic field during directional solidification. 相似文献

This article discusses changes in the therapeutic relationship, content, and process, emphasizing a feminist perspective. Analysts have interpreted the concept of neutrality in a variety of ways, beginning with Strachey's use of that word to translate Freud's (1915) term, Indifferenz. In this paper, neutrality is linked to Freud's notions of free association and evenly suspended attention. A history of psychoanalytic attempts to clarify the concept are presented, with special attention to issues of ambiguity and the patient's role in the determination of neutrality. Neutrality is further elaborated in relation to the bipersonal field as described by the Barangers and contemporary field theorists. Understood in terms of the field, neutrality becomes a transpersonal concept, here conceived in terms of alpha‐function and a dreaming dyad. Two clinical examples cast in the light of a Bionian perspective are discussed to suggest an alternative understanding of analytic impasses and their relation to alpha‐function and neutrality. 相似文献

Researchers have revealed that managers profit most from informal and on-the-job learning. Moreover, research has shown that task characteristics and social support affect informal learning. On the basis of these insights, the authors examined the effects of task characteristics (psychological job demands, job control) and social support from the supervisor and colleagues on informal on-the-job learning among 1,588 managers in the Dutch home-care sector. A regression analysis revealed that high demands, high control, and high colleague and supervisor support were each associated with high levels of informal learning. The authors found no evidence for statistical interactions among the effects of these concepts. They concluded that to promote managers' informal workplace learning, employers should especially increase job control. 相似文献
