Abstract : There is no doubt in the Christian tradition that humans are created in the image of God, which establishes the fundamental difference between humans and animals. However, problems concerning differences between humans have become more serious in theological discussions today with regard to human dignity. Abstract : In what is called its 'upper case' form, transhumanism (TH) projects a fantastical posthuman existence akin to science fiction, but in its 'lower case' form it permeates our American culture. This article identifies already existing theoretical and methodological commonalities between evolutionary biology and phenomenology,
concentrating specifically on their common pursuit of origins. It identifies in passing theoretical support from evolutionary
biology for present-day concerns in philosophy, singling out Sartre’s conception of fraternity as an example. It anchors its
analysis of the common pursuit of origins in Husserl’s consistent recognition of the grounding significance of Nature and
in his consistent recognition of animate forms of life other than human. It enumerates and exemplifies five basic errors of
continental philosophers with respect to Nature, errors testifying to a philosophical fundamentalism that distorts the intricate
interconnections and relationships of Nature in favor of a preferred knowledge rooted in ontological reductionism. It shows
that to discover and appreciate the common ground, one must indeed study “the things themselves.”

This article argues that the problem of modernity concerns the circumstances of existence and human destiny in modern times.
To understand the nature of this problem and find the corresponding solution, we need to reinterpret the thought of Karl Marx
regarding the contradictions of human existence and its historical dimensions. Following Marx’s line of thinking, this article
reviews his critical sequence, creative transformation, and development of duality of thought on man and the world in Western
history, focusing on the following four issues: (1) how Marx, on the basis of man’s sensuous objective activities, observes
the duality of man and the world as well as the relationship between man’s internal and external activities; (2) how Marx
discloses the true connotation and real significance of man’s historical existence, history, and historicity; (3) how Marx
reveals the inherent contradictions of modern capitalist society and the destiny of modern man based on historic thought concerning
man’s existence; and (4) by praising Marx’s views on material production and the eternal significance of ancient Greek culture,
the article reveals another dimension of Marx’s thought, a dimension that tends to be ignored. This article holds that in
this era of globalization, it is extremely important and urgent to have an in-depth understanding of Marx’s historical thoughts
regarding human existence and of the feasibility of his theory. Moreover, it is imperative to further develop this understanding
to create a clearer picture of our own path of development and our outlook on humanity.

Many non-Western Christian communities have experienced terrible human rights violations at the hands of fellow citizens, civil authorities, or rebel groups, Christian or otherwise. This article presents a brief and practical model of healing that attempts to remain consistent with the general characteristics of non-Western social realities. It suggests that rather than relying on the paucity of professional therapies offered in those contexts, non-Western churches themselves can become harbingers of healing for the traumatized community. By blending social theory with biblical narratives, this article proffers an example of how healing can take place within sociocentric communities. 相似文献

Hermeneutic and anti-hermeneutic sides in the debate about psychoanalysis are entangled in an epistemological and methodological
antinomy, here exemplified by Grünbaum's and Spence's paradigmatic views. Both contain a partial element of truth, which they
assert dialectically one against the other (§§ 1 and 2). This antinomy disappears only by reconciling an operationalist approach
with man's ability to suspend the effectiveness of the‘laws’ applied to him (§ 3). The hermeneutic way in which the technical-operational
criterion of truth works in psychoanalysis demands that clinical and extra-clinical testing methods work synergically, through
a fruitful self-correcting strategy, grounded on the very psychoanalytic object: the unconscious (§ 4).

This review of Irene Oh's The Rights of God focuses on women's rights in Islamic theory and practice. Oh suggests that religious establishments, and the texts they disseminate, often press believers to recognize and reject social problems, such as racial and gender discrimination. Islamic scholars and texts have played a more ambiguous role in efforts to recognize women's rights within Muslim states. Modernist intellectuals have used Islamic texts to support the advancement of women's rights, but members of the more conservative religious establishment have typically curbed or rejected these efforts. Muslim women themselves have established various responses to the question of Islam's compatibility with women's rights. While some embrace the value and compatibility of both, others reject the propriety of either Western conceptions of rights, or the Islamic tradition, as harmful for women. Muslim reformers and feminists have much to learn from comparative studies with other faith communities that have undergone similar struggles and transformations. 相似文献

In psychological studies individual differences that result in variability in data and thus mask the effects under investigation have been reduced or eliminated in two ways: (1) through the use of large numbers of subjects and statistical manipulations, or (2) through extensive and controlled studies of individual subjects. The latter, behavior-analytic, method is scientifically better because it permits identification of the variables that result in individual differences. This paper advocates the direct study of individual differences and personality rather than indirect study through experimental control procedures. Some data are presented showing that individual differences in response patterns have orderly characteristics. Extension of the experimental analysis of behavior to the study of individual differences and personality is likely to be important both scientifically and for the future growth of behavior analysis. 相似文献
