This paper outlines the background, process and outcomes for a project that delineated a set of graduate attributes of the 4‐year Australian undergraduate psychology program. The nature of the current undergraduate psychology program and its quality assurance system is described, followed by a consideration of current issues in psychology education and training. The processes involved in delineating the six graduate attributes (i.e., knowledge and understanding, research methods, critical thinking, values, communication, and application) are then described. Some issues and suggestions related to their implementation are then outlined. Finally, the authors summarise what has been accomplished in delineating the graduate attributes, and what still needs to be achieved. 相似文献

At last, the field of applied behavior analysis has a beautifully crafted, true textbook that can proudly stand cover to cover and spine to spine beside any of the expensive, imposing, and ornately designed textbooks used by college instructors who teach courses in conventional areas of education or psychology. In this review, I fully laud this development, credit Cooper, Heron, and Heward for making it happen, argue that it signifies a checkered flag for students and professors, and recommend the book for classes in applied behavior analysis everywhere. Subsequently, I review its chapters, each of which could easily stand alone as publications in their own right. Finally, I supply a cautionary note, a yellow flag to accompany the well‐earned checkered flag, by pointing out that, as is true with all general textbooks on applied behavior analysis, a major portion of the references involves research on persons who occupy only a tail of the normal distribution. To attain the mainstream role Skinner envisioned and most (if not all) behavior analysts desire, the field will have to increase its focus on persons who reside under the dome of that distribution. 相似文献

This article reports on a method of group mentoring to strengthen responsible research conduct. A key feature of this approach
is joint exploration of the issues by trainees and their faculty research supervisors. These interactions not only help participants
learn about current ethical norms for research practice, but also draw on the accumulated experience of faculty and staff
about practical problems of research conduct, and help to make faculty more articulate about responsible research conduct
and so better able to guide their trainees. By working with departments or laboratories as a whole the method facilitates
the formulation of specific norms appropriate to particular research situations and to strengthen the group’s ability to support
appropriate behavior and deal with new issues as they arise. It also gives students more ways to ask questions about research
practice and to benefit from the experience of all members of their department or group as well as their own research supervisors.
The method is well tested and has been well received by a wide variety of departments and research groups. It provides the
means for a constructive and enjoyable response to the Public Health Service’s (PHS) new Policy on Instruction in the Responsible
Conduct of Research (RCR) that requires education in the responsible conduct of research for all those funded by PHS funds,
including faculty and staff as well as trainees.

This study tested the psychological critical thinking attributes of students undertaking an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved course. It also assessed an instructional based teaching practice designed to improve psychological critical thinking skills. The participants were 84 second year and 60 fourth year psychology students enrolled at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. Participants were tested at the beginning and end of the semester with the Psychological Critical Thinking Exam (PCTE) ( Lawson, 1999 ) and only the second year group received specific critical thinking instructions. The results revealed a significant (p < .001) increase in mean PCTE score for the second year group, but no significant increase for the fourth year group. These results confirm the value of the instructional based teaching practice and support the graduate attributes expected by the APAC. 相似文献

个性与人们职业选择和职业发展存在着密切关系,选择与人格相匹配的职业锚,不仅有助于个体合理规划自身的职业生涯,而且组织也可以人员优化组合,从而提高组织绩效。本文以A型人格作为人格测量指标,选取“80后”大学生员工为研究对象,通过问卷调查深入探讨了A型人格与职业锚之间的关系,结果发现:A型人格与“80后”大学生员工自主型、创业型、技术型与挑战型的职业锚存在正相关,与挑战型和自主型职业锚有因果关系,其中时间紧迫感(CH)维度对挑战型职业锚有预测作用,竞争不耐烦(TH)维度对自主型职业锚有预测作用。具有A型人格的“80后”大学生员工非常适合创业和自主型的工作。B型较适合选择管理型与安全型的职业锚以发展自身的职业道路。本文对相关数据进行分析并提出建议和对策,帮助“80后”大学生员工设计符合自身个性的职业生涯规划。 相似文献

Abstract This paper describes a creative approach for training counselor and counselor educators that provides collaborative interactions among students and faculty in several university training programs. Structured around a problem-solving activity and self-reflection questionnaires, undergraduate teachers-in-training were given an opportunity to receive one-to-one consultative counseling from the master's level counselors-in-training, who in turn received structured problem-solving supervision from the doctoral level students. Finally, the doctoral level students received faculty support to facilitate the development of their supervisory skills. The goal of this training approach is to provide students at all three levels with experiences similar to those they will encounter as professionals following graduation from the university, but within the context of scaffolding from faculty and more advanced students. 相似文献

Aims: First, this paper presents the rationale for a novel approach to training counsellors in which measures for psychotherapy process research are taught to students before moving on to teaching basic empathic reflections and interventions. The rationale for this is that client process measures can be re‐purposed to help orient and sensitise trainees to key in‐session moments. Second, we present a training outcome study that assesses the effectiveness of this approach. Method: Using an experiential‐integrative therapy approach, a 13‐week training program was used to teach psychotherapy skills and process research measures to22 clinical graduate students taken from two cohorts. As part of the course, trainees conducted several single sessions with volunteer clients on four separate occasions. Training outcomes were measured using both trainee and client reports. Results: Compared to baseline, therapists reported significant and steady gains (all p's<.05) in session management, reducing their anxious self‐awareness, and in improved sense of self‐efficacy, with the latter having the largest effect (partial Eta Sq.=.381). Discussion: While the findings provide some support for a new training strategy, a dismantling design is needed next to more closely examine the process‐measure approach to training. 相似文献

Abstract The impact of managed care insurance coverage on the psychoanalytic situation is explored, using case material to show the particular ways transference and resistance may differ or not differ under this special circumstance. Managed care shapes typical areas of anxiety such as fees, schedules, frequency, and termination into riper opportunities for transference and resistance exploration. However, the so-called reality factor of an external influence easily disguises these potentialities. The analyst may unwittingly act out countertransference feelings using this “reality factor” as a rationale. While managed care does shift the nature of the therapeutic relationship, the emphasis on interpretation of transference and resistance remains at the forefront of technique. 相似文献
