This paper examines the ethical and professional dilemmas faced by counselling supervisors working in a range of diverse organisational contexts. Questionnaires and interviews were used to explore supervisor experiences of working in counselling agencies, industry, education and health service settings. Ethical and professional dilemmas outlined by supervisors were examined in connection with their role within the organisation. It was found that both external and ‘in‐house’ supervisors were exposed to dilemmas focused around issues of responsibility, confidentiality, boundaries, professionalism, relationships, contracts and ethical practice. Supervisors were divided in their opinions about playing a more active, educative role within organisational systems. Despite consistent evidence that adolescent girls are at greater risk of developing depression than adolescent boys, risk
factor models that account for this difference have been elusive. The objective of this research was to examine risk factors
proposed by the gender additive model of depression that attempts to partially explain the increased prevalence of depression in adolescent girls. The theory
suggests that body image and eating related variables predict depression for girls, but not for boys, above and beyond the
variance accounted for by other well-known risk factors, some of which were examined in the current study. The sample was
247 adolescent girls and 181 adolescent boys studied over a 24-month duration. Results suggest that body dissatisfaction is
a potent predictor of depression for girls, but not for boys, above and beyond the predictive effects of other established
risk factors. Results provide insight into the etiology of adolescent depression and the disparate rate of depression among
adolescent girls and provide direction for identifying high-risk individuals and developing effective prevention programs. 相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to examine relations among multiple child and family protective factors, neighborhood disadvantage, and positive social adjustment in a sample of 226 urban, low SES boys followed from infancy to early adolescence. The results indicated that child IQ, nurturant parenting, and parent-child relationship quality, measured in early childhood, were all significantly associated with a composite measure tapping low levels of antisocial behavior and high levels of social skills at ages 11 and 12. Parental romantic partner relationship quality (RPRQ) was only significantly related to positive social adjustment in the context of low levels of neighborhood disadvantage. Results suggest that with the exception of RPRQ, these protective factors operate in a comparable manner with respect to positive social adjustment for this predominantly low-income urban sample of boys. 相似文献

Criticizing the works of “Western” specialists in semantics, Soviet academician M. M. Pokrovskij (1868–1942) comes to the
conclusion that social factors are essential for semantic evolution, while psychological factors constitute an intermediate
link between the “external” life of a society and the semantics of the corresponding language. This conception resembles the
general explanations of semantic evolution proposed by N. Ja. Marr (1864–1934). Nevertheless, despite a number of common points
in the semantic theories of these two researchers, Pokrovskij’s attitude towards Marr was negative: in particular, he disagreed
with the thesis of the chronological primacy of Marr’s discoveries in the domain of semantics. The article investigates why
Pokrovskij had for a long time constituted an intermediate link between Russian and “Western” “traditions” in the field of
semantics.

Bullying affects a considerable number of children and adolescents, with serious consequences for school performance, health and emotional well-being. To understand bullying a promising approach is the individual by context approach, which implies that social contexts can either attenuate or exacerbate the effect of individual characteristics on bullying behaviour. Within this interactional framework, the paper reviews studies which lie at the intersection between two research areas, bullying knowledge and anti-bullying interventions research. Specifically, studies that show how the relation between individual vulnerability and bullying is moderated by class norms, peer behaviours and teacher interventions will be discussed. Following these results, translation implications will be analysed focusing on: 1) studies evaluating interventions which aim to change peer behaviours and class norms; 2) studies investigating the circumstances under which an intervention may work or not; and 3) studies focusing on the effectiveness of an intervention in relation to the different target population. 相似文献
