The Quality of Life Inventory (QOLI) is an established rating scale of self-perceived quality of life across 16 domains. Norms for different psychiatric conditions when rated via the Internet, responsiveness to change following treatment, and the clinical impact of importance-weighting items have yet to be examined. To investigate these unanswered questions, important for the continued and expanded use of the QOLI, we compiled archival screening and post-treatment data from 20 studies featuring Internet-delivered psychological interventions for seven different psychiatric conditions and an undergraduate sample, totalling over 4000 participants. Disorder-specific norms were indicated by between-group analyses and are reported here, item-by-item. The QOLI showed adequate responsiveness to change and construct validity. Discrepancies were found when conducting between-group analyses with and without weighted items (more significant differences when items were not weighted) on both the screening and post-treatment data, suggesting that weighting is a procedure that is likely to have an impact when analysing QOLI results. Limitations and the needs for future research are discussed. 相似文献

Self-affirmation seems to enable an individual to objectively evaluate information that would otherwise evoke a defensive reaction. If this objectivity reflects freedom from self-evaluative concerns, affirmation should sensitize people to central cues of a persuasive message, like argument strength. If affirmation simply induces agreeableness or trivializes the issue, affirmed participants should not particularly heed argument strength. Affirmed and non-affirmed participants rated the persuasiveness of pro- and counterattitudinal arguments that varied in strength. Among participants who rated their attitudes as personally important, self-affirmation decreased bias and increased sensitivity to argument strength, as predicted by self-affirmation theory. 相似文献

Despite their elevated risk of health problems and a propensity to be more overweight or underweight relative to the other members of the Australian population, there has been no previous investigation of body image concerns among Indigenous Australians. In this study we investigated the level of body image importance and body image dissatisfaction among 19 rural Indigenous adolescents (7 males, 12 females) and 28 urban Indigenous adolescents (15 males and 13 females). Our hypotheses that there would be gender differences in body image importance and body image satisfaction were not generally supported. However, males placed more importance on muscle size and strength than females, and rural participants placed more importance on weight than urban participants. Comparison to existing data obtained from Caucasian adolescents suggested that Indigenous youth may be less concerned and dissatisfied with body weight and shape. These results are discussed in relation to findings from studies of non-Indigenous adolescents, and Indigenous health issues. The limitations of the current study and the need for further studies are also discussed. 相似文献

Murray Sidman's book, Tactics of Scientific Research: Evaluating Experimental Data in Psychology, published in 1960, has been called the bible of the experimental analysis of behavior and has been a major influence on basic as well as applied research in behavior analysis. The contents of the early reviews of the book are summarized and the commemoration in The Behavior Analyst at the 30th anniversary of the book is reviewed along with Sidman's comments on updates that he would have made if he were to revise or supplement the book. Included are some later remarks by Sidman regarding specific issues in Tactics. Continuous rates of citations are displayed and show the sustained relevance of the book, and selected themes from the book are discussed. Finally, experiences from using Tactics in lab courses and in graduate-level courses on scientific method are recapitulated, including questions raised by students, and Sidman's answers to those questions. Tactics is a true classic in behavior analysis. 相似文献

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate career-related antecedents of graduates’ anticipatory psychological contracts.
Design/Methodology/Approach A survey was filled out by a sample of 722 graduates addressing questions on career strategy, individual career management,
work importance, and beliefs about employer and employee obligations.
Findings Graduates with a high score on careerism, who are engaged in a high level of individual career management and with management
ambitions, reported a higher level of employer obligations and a higher level of employee obligations related to flexibility
and employability.
Implications This study adds to the literature by addressing the initial stage of psychological contract formation, taking place in the
anticipatory socialization stage. The obligations that are salient in graduates’ pre-employment beliefs are likely to affect
their psychological contracts after organizational entry. Moreover, depending on their career goals and other career-related
factors, graduates approach their future employment relationship with different beliefs about what they should contribute
and what they will receive in return. Employers may use these findings when working out recruitment strategies for young graduates.
They also provide input for actively managing the expectations of new hires.
Originality/Value Most studies on psychological contracts addressed the relationship between employees’ psychological contract evaluations and
subsequent attitudes and behaviors. Only recently scholars have started to address the topic of psychological contract formation.
This study adds to this line of research by addressing the pre-employment stage. It also adds to the literature by addressing
the relationship between career-related antecedents and psychological contracts. 相似文献
