ABSTRACTThis paper considers the characteristics of severe plastic deformation (SPD) to estimate its efficacy and to compare different processing techniques. In contrast to effective strains by von Mises and Hencky, the rotation component of the strain rate is included in the analysis as a mode of deformation, which ranges from simple shear to pure shear. Distortions of material elements during a uniform plane plastic flow are calculated using a kinematic approach. For the fixed deformation mode, the current state is defined by the accumulated shears that are identical to the von Mises effective shear strains. In specific cases of pure shear and simple shear, the accumulated shears match the specific distortions of round or square elements prescribed by Hencky or von Mises approach, respectively. The mode of deformation is important to the structural effects of SPD. In general, two separated characteristics, accumulated shear and the coefficient of deformation mode, are necessary to describe strains during SPD. 相似文献

Two types of twin boundaries in superconductor Y0.6Na0.4Ba2Cu2.7Zn0.3O7? δ , the cation-centered and oxygen-centered types, and the associated twinning dislocation have been studied by high-resolution electron microscopy. The structure map projected in the [001] direction was obtained from a single image by means of the image deconvolution technique. In this map, all columns of metallic atoms appear as individual black dots, and hence the two types of twin boundaries are distinguished from each other at atomic level. It is seen that the twinning dislocation occurs when the two types of twin boundaries meet each other. The structure model of the twinning dislocation together with the two types of twin boundaries has been derived straightforwardly based on the positions of black dots seen in the deconvoluted image. 相似文献

Fragmentation testing of thin films on substrates has in the past been mostly performed in situ using optical and scanning electron microscopy. While these techniques work well for brittle materials, they cannot always discern the difference between through-thickness cracks (TTCs) and localized plastic deformation of ductile films. Molecular dynamics simulations are used to show that cyclic mechanical loading can relax the non-equilibrium grain boundary (GB) structures of nanocrystalline metals by dissipating energy and reducing the average atomic energy of the system, leading to higher strengths. The GB processes that dominate deformation in these materials allow low-energy boundary configurations to be found through kinematically irreversible structural changes during cycling, which increases the subsequent resistance to plastic deformation. 相似文献

The nature and behaviour of grain boundary (GB) phases is very important since they can control strength, plasticity, resistivity, grain growth, corrosion resistance, etc, especially in nanocrystalline materials. For nanocrystalline Al-based light alloys, extremely high plasticity has been observed in restricted temperature and concentration intervals close to the solidus line. This phenomenon is not fully understood. It can be explained by formation of GB phases not included in the bulk phase diagram. Therefore, the structure of GB phases, as well as thermodynamic conditions for their existence, has to be carefully studied. In this work the structure and composition of GBs and GB triple junctions in Al–5 at.% Zn polycrystals annealed in the temperature region above and below the bulk solidus line were studied by high-resolution electron microscopy and analytical transmission electron microscopy. Evidence has been obtained that a thin layer of a liquid-like phase exists in GBs and GB triple junctions slightly below the bulk solidus line. 相似文献

The behaviour of vacancies during isothermal ageing following quenching of an Al-1.7at.% Mg-1.1at.% Cu alloy has been studied by positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. The positron lifetime parameters vary in parallel with the Vickers hardness of the alloy, suggesting simultaneous migration of vacancies and changes in the size and concentration of vacancies containing clusters and dislocation loops. The results also explain the long hardness plateau observed previously in ageing experiments carried out between 100 and 240°C in terms of a continuous growth of Mg-Cu-vacancy clusters during ageing. The vacancy concentration of the clusters increases gradually until the setting in of the cluster Guinier-Preston-Bagaryatsky zone transformation. 相似文献

Cross-correlation-based analysis of electron backscatter diffraction patterns has been used to map the distribution of geometrically necessary dislocation (GND) density in deformed polycrystalline copper. Patterning of the dislocations into high-density cell walls and low-density cell interiors was readily observed at the micron scale. Patterning at the longer length scale of the grain size was also evident with high-density regions (GND hot spots) tending to be in clusters, often found close to some but not all grain boundaries and triple junctions. 相似文献

A general factor of personality (GFP) was obtained solely from unshared environment, by deriving it from the intercorrelations of monozygotic twin differences. This GFP was compared with a GFP derived from correlations reflecting all three components of variance—genes, shared environment, and unshared environment. In two large samples of adult Australian twins, for the items of two questionnaires, the two approaches gave virtually identical GFPs. However, in a sample of adolescent Australian twins, the two GFPs were correlated but distinct. 相似文献

In two studies, we examined the genetic and environmental sources of the unfolding of personality trait differences from childhood to emerging adulthood. Using self‐reports from over 3000 representative German twin pairs of three birth cohorts, we could replicate previous findings on the primary role of genetic sources accounting for the unfolding of inter‐individual differences in personality traits and stabilizing trait differences during adolescence. More specifically, the genetic variance increased between early (ages 10–12 years) and late (ages 16–18 years) adolescence and stabilized between late adolescence and young adulthood (ages 21–25 years). This trend could be confirmed in a second three‐wave longitudinal study of adolescents' personality self‐reports and parent ratings from about 1400 Norwegian twin families (average ages between 15 and 20 years). Moreover, the longitudinal study provided evidence for increasing genetic differences being primarily due to accumulation of novel genetic influences instead of an amplification of initial genetic variation. This is in line with cumulative interaction effects between twins' correlated genetic makeups and environmental circumstances shared by adolescent twins reared together. In other words, nature × nurture interactions rather than transactions can account for increases in genetic variance and thus personality variance during adolescence. © 2019 European Association of Personality Psychology 相似文献
