ABSTRACTThe Czech Republic is one of the most secularised societies, while atheistic and spiritual values are increasingly acknowledged and practiced. This research note has two objectives. First, we provide cultural and societal background of a development of the Spiritual Health Questionnaire. Second, the paper discusses empirical approach to the development of a battery of scales designed to systematically assess spiritual health for future spirituality research aimed at the Czech population and beyond. 相似文献

This article explores the potential and limitations of Louise Rosenblatt's account of aesthetic reading as a basis for understanding the relationship between literary experience and spiritual development. It does so by examining a particular act of reading involving a poem by Ernst Jandl in the light of Rosenblatt's account of ‘aesthetic reading’ and Kierkegaard's categories of the poet and the child. It is argued that an account of the relationship of spirituality to the reading of literature needs to go beyond the immediate experience of the act of reading and take into account the way that literary meanings are responded to in later living and the way in which attentiveness to textual detail can be rooted in spiritual attitudes. 相似文献

This paper argues that to fulfil what is required of a model of children's spiritual development in the context of secular educative care, six criteria must be met: the meaning of the terms and nature of the phenomenon must both be specified; the relationship to an underlying ontology must be clarified and the status of alternatives characterized; the sense in which spirituality is developmental and open to change through intervention must be identified and which specific developmental changes are 'spiritual' designated; there must be consistency with an accepted paradigm for the understanding and study of human development; the role and status of spiritual development within a secular system of educative care needs explanation; consequential practical implications must be specified. In suggesting this is an unfulfilled requirement, the challenges posed by each of these criteria are identified. 相似文献

Difficulties are outlined in how to consider whether boys and girls have distinctive approaches and needs in relation to spiritual development, especially the lack of any agreed definition of spiritual development and the nature of the research literature relating to gender. I explore this without presupposing, or excluding, any particular definition, arguing that, whatever one's assumptions and beliefs about spirituality, these influence, and are influenced by, assumptions and beliefs about gender, and vice versa. I present empirical evidence on aspects associated with personal well‐being indicating outcomes strongly differentiated by gender. I examine research evidence in relation to gender within a range of areas commonly associated with spirituality and highlight some gaps. I argue that considering spiritual development through the lens of gender and gender through that of spiritual development can illuminate one's understanding of both concepts. I suggest some possible implications for future research and for teachers of young children. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory 24 (SISRI-24) is widely used to assess spiritual intelligence (SI) in general population samples. The current study explored the Greek version SISRI-24 factor structure in a convenience sample of 1777 adults. A translation of the original scale was performed in different stages, so as to obtain a fully comprehensible and accurate equivalent. Psychometric properties were analyzed at the level of item. The four-factor solution proposed in the original SISRI-24 was not confirmed. Instead, an alternative model, in which the SISRI-24 structure was revised and trimmed to a final three-factor, 17-item short-form version (KAPN), produced an instrument of sound construct validity [fit indices: CFI?=?.92, TLI?=?.91, RMSEA?=?.06, SRMR?=?.06] and robust internal consistency. The results are sufficient for endorsing the suitability of KAPN in Greek speaking populations, and extend cross-cultural support for the SI model. Implications and recommendations for future directions of research are discussed. 相似文献
