The effects of the Yazıköy‐epicentre Burdur earthquake (12 May 1971) on the residents of the village

The majority of the population in Turkey lives with the risk of earthquakes. The public is affected deeply by earthquakes socially, economically and psychologically. This study aims to examine the knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of the survivors of the 1971 Burdur earthquake and its sociocultural effects. A total of 76 individuals took part in the study. The data for the research were collected through participant interviews with the use of the semi‐structured interview form. Findings indicate that the participants are not sufficiently knowledgeable about earthquakes, that their knowledge is not based on scientific grounds, that their attitudes towards earthquakes reflect fatalistic and local cultural elements, and that their socio‐economic status plays an important role in their perspectives on earthquakes. The findings of this study are thought to form a basis for researchers for future study. 相似文献

This article considers the question of whether it is meaningful to speak of privacy rights in public spaces, and the possibility
of such rights framing the basis for regulating or restricting the use of surveillance technologies such as closed circuit
television (CCTV). In particular, it responds to a recent article by Jesper Ryberg that suggests that there is little difference
between being watched by private individuals and CCTV cameras, and instead argues that state surveillance is qualitatively
different from (and more problematic than) surveillance by ‘lonely old ladies’.

The article considers Jürgen Habermas’s views on the relationship between postmetaphysical philosophy and religion. It outlines
Habermas’s shift from his earlier, apparently dismissive attitude towards religion to his presently more receptive stance.
This more receptive stance is evident in his recent emphasis on critical engagement with the semantic contents of religion
and may be characterized by two interrelated theses: (a) the view that religious contributions should be included in political
deliberations in the informally organized public spheres of contemporary democracies, though translated into a secular language
for the purposes of legislation and formal decision making and (b) the view that postmetaphysical philosophy should seek to
salvage the semantic contents of religious traditions in order to supply the evocative images, exemplary figures, and inspirational
narratives it needs for its social and political projects. With regard to (a), it argues that the translation requirement
impairs the political autonomy of religious believers and other metaphysically inclined citizens, suggesting that this difficulty
could be alleviated by making a distinction between epistemologically authoritarian and non-authoritarian religious beliefs.
With regard to (b), it argues that the salvaging operation is not as straightforward as Habermas seems to suppose and that
social and political philosophy may not be able to tap the semantic power of religious traditions without relying on metaphysical
assumptions; it concludes that, here, too, a distinction between authoritarian and non-authoritarian approaches to knowledge

Abstract: In this study, the relationships between husbands' attitudes towards gender roles and their psychological well-being were examined in 244 middle-aged men who had a working wife. Employment patterns of the wives were separated into full-time employment and part-time employment, and a model showing relationships among factors, such as attitudes towards gender roles, workplace satisfaction, and subjective well-being of the husbands, was created and analyzed using a structural equation model. Attitudes towards gender roles comprised gender conception and the view on gender-based division of work. Husbands with a wife employed part-time that held a stronger gender conception had a lower subjective well-being, mediated by their lower workplace satisfaction. However, the view of husbands with a wife employed full-time on gender-based division of work was directly related to subjective well-being. That is, the husband's subjective well-being was lower when support of gender-based division of work was stronger. 相似文献

The author draws attention to something distinctive in the psychoanalytic 'air' from the early 1960s onwards: the strong emphasis upon the very early psychological, emotional and cognitive view of infants and young children. She focuses on the work of two analysts in particular, Esther Bick and Wilfred Bion, and the comparable, though differently expressed, centrality of the observational method in their work. Each explored not only the pathological picture but also the nature and integrative function of psychic containment in earliest mental life. Each also shared a preoccupation with what constituted a psychoanalytic attitude and with the process of becoming a psychoanalyst and, in Bick's case, a child analyst or psychotherapist. The author provides an historical background to the idea of observation, followed by an account, with detailed examples, of the nature of infant observation and the observational method as taught and practised at the Tavistock Clinic, London since the late 1940s, and subsequently in many other training institutions. Here the themes of Bick and Bion are constantly interrelated such that the prototype or model for the creation of emotional meaning and thought can be appreciated and learning from experience can take place. 相似文献

Political psychologists have typically argued that ideological commitments are structured in a bipolar fashion, where a positive evaluation of conservative objects implies a negative evaluation of liberal objects (and vice versa). Individual differences in conformity to this pattern are usually attributed to an ability-related variable, i.e., political expertise . Departing from this strict focus on ability, this study examines the hypotheses that an important motivational variable—the need to evaluate , or the desire to form opinions of objects as "good" or "bad"—would (1) predict deviations from ideological bipolarity, even controlling for expertise; and (2) moderate the relationship between expertise and deviations from bipolarity. Data from two national surveys provided evidence for these hypotheses and indicated that the results extended to deviations from bipolarity in evaluations of presidential candidates and political parties. 相似文献

采用问卷法探讨了亲子间性话题沟通风格与青少年性行为、性态度的关系,并考查了亲子依恋的调节效应。结果发现:(1)两个关于性别、父母职业和受教育程度的多元方差分析表明:男生与女生在与父亲和母亲的性话题沟通开放性上均没有显著差异,与父亲和母亲性话题沟通的舒适感上有显著差异。男生与父亲的性话题沟通风格好于与母亲的,而女生与母亲的性话题沟通风格好于与父亲的。父母的职业和受教育程度以及青少年性别、父母职业、受教育程度的交互作用不显著;(2)进一步的结构方程模型分析表明:青少年与父母性话题沟通开放性对性行为具有显著的负向预测作用,对不赞同同伴性行为的态度具有显著的正向预测作用;而青少年与父母性话题沟通舒适感对不赞同同伴性行为的态度具有显著的负向预测作用;(3)依恋对性话题沟通和青少年的性行为的关系有显著的调节作用,与完全安全依恋的家庭相比,在与父母依恋都不安全的家庭中,青少年与父母性话题沟通的开放性对青少年的性行为有更强的预测力 相似文献
