Children's engagement and competence in personal recollection: effects of parents' reminiscing goals 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Parents' goal orientations in parent-child reminiscing were examined in this study, where 28 preschoolers (mean age = 46 months) experienced a standardized event. Dyads discussed the event that evening, with parents randomly assigned to either an "outcome-oriented" or a "process-oriented" condition. Outcome-oriented parents, who were told that children subsequently would be tested on event-related recall, were more controlling in these conversations compared with process-oriented parents, who were told that children's personal perspective would be assessed. Parents did not differ in their provision of structure. Children were interviewed 2 weeks later. Autonomy support in the parent-child conversation predicted children's engagement in the interview. Parental structure predicted children's recall of details and the coherence of their memories. Effects of parental reminiscing styles for children's memory and motivation to reminisce are discussed. 相似文献

There has been a long, ongoing discussion of goals in psychoanalytic treatment. Some analysts are even of the opinion that psychoanalysis ought to be goalless (‘just analysing’). The growing number of outcome studies, however, is in need of a generally accepted set of criteria by which treatment results can be judged. The author proposes a definition of the goals of psychoanalysis that covers four areas: the alleviation of symptoms and complaints, changes in life adjustment, changes in personality structure, and procedural goals such as the resolution of the transference neurosis. She illustrates the relevance of this conceptualization by an empirical study that considers the assessments of 19 psychoanalysts discussing statements made by a former patient about her analytic treatment. On the basis of this case, which comes from the follow‐up study of the DPV (German Psychoanalytical Society), reported by Leuzinger‐Bohleber et al. in 2002, the author demonstrates that psychoanalysts use the criteria defined above implicitly in forming their opinions. The starting point for the contemporary debate about theories of health should be the holistic theory of Lennart Nordenfelt,
claims George Khushf, not the refuted theory of Christopher Boorse. The present paper is an attempt to challenge Nordenfelt
and to present an alternative theory to his and other theories, including Boorse’s. The main problems with Nordenfelt’s theory
are that it is relativistic, that it leads to counter-intuitive results as to what goals can count as healthy, that it focuses
on the wrong kind of abilities, that it makes measuring health extra difficult, and that it does not give us a sufficient
account of health, at most a necessary one. The alternative theory proposed is two-dimensional. First, health is to have developed
the abilities and dispositions that members of one’s culture typically develop, and be able to use them, in acceptable circumstances;
and second, health is to experience positive moods and sensations, the kinds that have internal causes. The theory solves
the problems attached to Nordenfelt’s theory by not being individual relativistic, by eliminating the goals in the definition,
by giving an alternative interpretation of “ability,” by making health easier to measure, and by adding the dimension of well-being
that, together with health as ability, not only gives us a necessary, but also a sufficient, account of health. 相似文献

We propose a model of vocational choice that can be used for analyzing and guiding the decision processes underlying career and job choices. Our model is based on research in behavioral decision making (BDM), in particular the choice goals framework developed by Bettman, Luce, and Payne (1998). The basic model involves two major processes. First, the selection of a decision strategy according to four choice goals: maximizing decision accuracy, minimizing cognitive effort, minimizing negative emotion, and maximizing justifiability of the decision. Second, the construction of situation-specific preferences, which can reflect irrelevant task and context factors such as the evaluation mode. This basic model is extended to account for social influences and the long decision time typical of most career and job decisions. We review research on vocational choice in light of this model, discuss normative implications for counseling, and outline a research agenda for studying vocational choice from a behavioral decision making perspective. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to explore how an individual’s religion relates to their time orientation. Specifically, we hypothesised (a) intrinsic orientation would positively correlate with future orientation, (b) extrinsic orientation would positively correlate with present-hedonistic orientation, (c) quest orientation would positively correlate with present-hedonistic and future orientations, (d) orthodox orientation would positively correlate with past positive orientation, and (e) secularism would positively correlate with past negative orientation, present-fatalistic and future orientations. Participants (n?=?150) completed an online survey of time orientation and religious orientation. The results showed that perceptions of the past are strongly linked to religious orientation, with more positive perceptions being linked to the more traditional orientations, and less positive perceptions linked to the looser and secularist orientations. 相似文献

ObjectivesResearch on passion has demonstrated the existence of two roads toward sports performance through the effects of deliberate practice (Vallerand et al., 2007, 2008). The first emanates from harmonious passion (HP) and contributes to both performance and psychological well-being. The second stems from obsessive passion (OP), and performance comes at the cost of well-being. The present research proposes that need satisfaction (Deci & Ryan, 2000) mediates the relation of HP, but not OP, with both outcomes. In Study 2, achievement goals were added to the model. Mastery goals were expected to mediate the positive relation between HP and outcomes, whereas performance-avoidance goals would be associated with OP and, thus be detrimental to athletes.DesignTwo studies using correlational (Study 1) and longitudinal (Study 2) designs.MethodStudy 1 (N = 172) was conducted with soccer players. Study 2 was conducted with hockey players (N = 598). Athletes completed measures of passion, need satisfaction, life satisfaction, deliberate practice, and achievement goals (Study 2 only). Coaches assessed performance in Study 1. Study 2 used games played in competitive leagues over 15 years to measure performance.ResultsAnalyses using SEM provided support for the mediating role of need satisfaction (Study 1 and 2) and achievement goals (Study 2) in the relation of HP with outcomes. This article is intended to guide online course developers and teachers. A brief review of the literature on the misconceptions
of beginning online teachers reveals that most accept the notion that putting one’s lecture notes online produces effective
learning, or that technology will make education more convenient and cost-effective for all concerned. Effective online learning
requires a high level of responsibility for learning on the part of students and a reduction of the teacher-student power
differential. This, in turn, has major implications for faculty and course development, student selection criteria, the cost
of instruction, and the outcomes of education. Effective online teaching focuses on processes of learning rather than outcomes,
and is consistent with modern principles of learning that emphasize focusing on issues of high interest to learners, teaching
students to use skills of active and effective learning, providing prompt feedback, and enabling students to establish learning
goals and employ alternative paths to achieving those goals. Multiple ways of operationalizing these goals online are presented.
Tips are offered concerning selection of students who are capable of benefiting from the online experience, developing curriculum
that is user-friendly, using resources that stimulate good writing and critical thinking, and limiting class size to a manageable

Therapeutic assessment of the child (TA-C) is a model of psychological assessment that allows for collaborative work with parents and child on their reasons for consultation, a collaboration that breaks away from a traditional double separation (parent/assessor, and assessor/therapist) in child assessment. This paper, grounded in a contemporary psychodynamic viewpoint, presents clinical illustrations to support a conceptualization of change processes in TA-C. It is argued that, in order to revitalize empathy in parents, work focusing on the parents’ mental representation of their child is central. We propose a hierarchy of assessment/therapeutic goals that allows for a better distinction between TA-C and standard assessment in work with children. 相似文献
