House mice have been reported rarely to perform the supine behavior pattern as a defensive tactic during intraspecific fighting. However, in this study of intraspecific fighting by male mice, it is shown that mice do indeed rotate to supine. This maneuver is used to evade or extricate themselves from bites to the lower dorsum by the attacking opponent. Once free from the bite the defender does not remain supine, but will immediately turn to prone and flee. Remaining motionless in the supine position may serve a submissive function in other species, but this does not seem to be the case for mice. The present findings illustrate that the supine tactic is a dynamic maneuver for defense of body areas targeted by the opponent. © 1992 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

When multiple items are clustered around a reading passage, the local independence assumption in item response theory is often violated. The amount of information contained in an item cluster is usually overestimated if violation of local independence is ignored and items are treated as locally independent when in fact they are not. In this article we provide a general method that adjusts for the inflation of information associated with a test containing item clusters. A computational scheme was presented for the evaluation of the factor of adjustment for clusters in the restrictive case of two items per cluster, and the general case of more than two items per cluster. The methodology was motivated by a study of the NAEP Reading Assessment. We present a simulated study along with an analysis of a NAEP data set.The research was supported under the National Assessment of Educational Progress (Grant No. R999G30002) as administered by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education. 对执行功能的定义存在着多种理论观点,但由于执行功能的含义广泛,该领域仍缺乏一个统一明确的定义。鉴于已有的各种理论的不足,该文着重介绍了Zelazo等人提出的研究执行功能的新思路:根据问题解决的理论框架来构建执行功能的概念,从而把执行功能的不同方面就其功能暂时整合在一个统一的框架中。根据这个问题解决的框架,执行功能是一个由问题解决的四个阶段组成的宏观概念:问题表征、计划、执行、评价。这种观点承认执行功能内在的复杂性和层次性,并引导我们深入地研究各亚功能之间的相互作用,有助于我们将该领域内各种不同的研究结果整合起来;但这种理论本身也存在值得商榷的地方,不能毫无批判地接受。  相似文献

信息函数作为项目反应理论中的一个重要概念,在进行项目和测验分析的工作中,以及在指导测验编制的工作中,有着非常重要的应用价值。信息函数的应用在计算机化自适应测验中更是重中之重,也受到最大关注。然而,关于多级记分项目信息函数特性的研究还比较少。本研究模拟了被试特质水平参数数据和项目参数数据,其中被试特质水平参数生成了121个被试特质水平参数点,项目参数生成了4批不同区分度参数数据,每批数据有126个不同难度等级参数组合模式的项目,每个项目有5个难度等级。通过数据分析后发现,等级反应模型项目提供最大信息量所对应的被试特质水平,是与该项目几个相互临近的难度等级组相适应,既不是只与其中一个难度等级对应,也不一定是与所有难度等级对应。本研究称这种规律为“临近难度等级占优”。这个发现无疑对测验质量分析和测验编制工作,包括计算机化自适应测验编制,具有重要的指导意义  相似文献

A constrained quadratic spline is proposed as an estimator of the hazard function of a random variable. A maximum penalized likelihood procedure is used to fit the estimator to a sample of psychological response times. The results of a small simulation study suggest that, with a sample size of 500, the procedure may provide a reasonably precise estimate of the shape of a hazard function.This research was conducted under the auspices of the Naval Postgraduate School during the author's sabbatical from Vanderbilt University and was partially supported by the Navy Personnal Research and Development Center. The present paper reports a set of experimental studies concerning the comprehension of French argumentative operators and connectives. The first part is a presentation of the theoretical framework, the methodological problems and some of the most general results. Experiments were carried out in the perspective of the linguistic theory of argumentation developed by Anscombre and Ducrot. According to this theory, a number of devices in language are mainly defined by their argumentation function, i.e. by the types of discursive sequences and conclusions they involve. Three categories of such devices were examined: (1) operators like “presque” (almost), “à peine” (hardly), “au moins” (at least), etc. which give an argumentative orientation to the statement; (2) co-orientation connectives, like “même” (even), which relate two statements oriented towards the same conclusion; (3) counter-orientation connectives, like the concessive ones (“mais” (but), “quand même” (even so), etc.), which relate two statements oriented towards opposite conclusions. The data shed light on issues such as: What is the nature of the relationship between the informative and argumentative functions of different operators? Is there a hierarchical relation between the argumentative processes of “co-orientation” and “counter-orientation”? What is the role of negation in the processing of argumentative sequences? The second part of the paper focuses specifically on the study of how 8 and 10 year-old children process “counter-oriented” statements. Five concessive connectives were studied: “mais”, “pourtant”, “quand même”, “même si”, “bien que”. The test was composed of two successive completion tasks: in one task the children had to choose the relevant context of complex sentences involving concessive connectives; in the other task they had to choose their relevant conclusion. Main results show a clear evolution in the performance of children between 8 and 10, suggesting that concessive strategies are not completely mastered at the age of 8. Differences among the concessive connectives studied were brought out: the item “quand même” obtained much better results than the other items with 8-year-old subjects; statements with “mais” seemed to be better processed in the conclusion task than in the context task, especially by 10-year-old subjects. These results are compared with other data obtained in some of the numerous studies on the production and comprehension of concessive connectives in various languages, and discussed from the point of view of argumentative theory.  相似文献

Most of the factor solutions can be got by minimizing a corresponding loss function. However, up to now, a loss function for the alpha factor analysis (AFA) has not been known. The present paper establishes such a loss function for the AFA. Some analogies to the maximum likelihood factor analysis are discussed.The author is greatly indebted to Prof. Henry F.
