我国大学科系职业兴趣类型图初探

为了使ＨＯＬＬＡＮＤ式中国职业兴趣量表实用化,本研究以Ｐｒｅｄｉｇｅｒ关于工作世界图的构想来建构适合我国中学生使用的大学科系职业兴趣类型图。通过各种检验,在理论上获得了支持。     

University Violence in Jordan: PTSD Consequences

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between witnessing university violence and developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among university students. A total of 885 students from Hashemite University participated in the study. A self-administrated questionnaire and the PTSD Interview Schedule were distributed. The study revealed a low to moderate prevalence of PTSD symptomatology among the study sample; there were significant differences in PTSD prevalence based on faculty type, personal traumatic history, living situation, injuries resulting from university violence, students' violence involvement, and short duration of witnessing violence. There were no statistical differences in PTSD prevalence based on gender and type of degree.     

对高校加强心理健康教育的几点思考

教育部和各高校都在认真探索加强和改进大学生心理健康教育工作的思路和措施,取得了阶段性成效,积累了有益的经验.若要此项工作具有可持续性,必须从教师、学生和学校等各方面来做更加深入、细致的工作.     

The history of religions and francophone research in Europe: Main disciplinary trends in Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxemburg

This article provides an overview (as of September, 2008) of the state of the field of l’histoire des religions in the four french-speaking countries of Europe. It discusses the pioneers, along with their followers and influence, the position of principle institutions regarding teaching in the field, and the general orientations of each university, along with distinct emphases that reflect recent socio-political and cultural developments. This detailed panorama brings to light the relative weakness of french-speaking research in the field of l’histoire générale des religions. It calls attention to tensions between the former high status of this academic area, more than half of a century ago, and the disrepute into which its comparativist project has fallen over the last decades. It asks how French secularism – and the growing secularization of western societies more generally – may have influenced perceptions of the discipline, its orientations, and its position in today's academic market academic market. It also considers the impact of declining comprehension of religious phenomena among younger generations and correlated concerns with popularisation.     

Racial ideology in predicting social cognitive career variables for Black undergraduates

This exploratory study expanded Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT; Lent, Brown, & Hackett, 1994) by incorporating the personal variable of racial ideology (Sellers, Rowley, Chavous, Shelton, & Smith, 1997). The association of racial ideology (i.e., nationalist, humanist, assimilationist, and oppressed minority) to self-efficacy variables, outcome expectations, career interests, and perceived career barriers was examined for 141 Black undergraduates enrolled at a historically Black university. Regression analyses evidenced support for two of the four racial ideologies (nationalist and assimilationist), both independently and in combination, in predicting career self-efficacy, outcome expectations, career interests, and perceived career barriers. Support was also found for the general applicability of SCCT with Black undergraduates at a historically Black university in that interests were most predictive of career consideration. Future research directions applied to the SCCT model are discussed and practice implications for Black college students are considered.     

Organisation du travail,stress et conséquences en milieu universitaire

The objective of this study is to show that the organization of work, appearing in a cultural context marked by inequity, and raising the symptoms of stress, has an adverse impact on the functioning of Cameroonian universities. From a random probability sample of 287 university teachers were selected. Relative to the French version of the organizational factors Karasek and Siegrist questionnaire and inventory-based stress symptoms questionnaire were administered to them. The analysis method was statistical results and hypotheses were tested with multiple regression. All hypotheses are confirmed.This research raises awareness of mental health, if it is not supported, can further contribute to weaken higher education in Cameroon.     

Challenges to Integrity in University Administration: Bad Faith and Loyal Agency

This paper addresses a small but important subset of the challenges to ethical behaviour that face senior university administrators in their daily work, namely, errors in moral judgment which arise from over-identification and loyalty to the institution. The domain and precipitating factors are not unique to universities but may be more intensely experienced due to two features of the traditional public and private not-for-profit university that are unique. These features include the historical nature and purpose of a university and the role of the university professor in the production and dissemination of knowledge.An earlier version of this paper was presented at the Senior University Administrators Course, held in Banff, Alberta, June 15, 2004.     

The Duty to Protect: Privacy and the Public University

This article addresses the tensions between the sense of responsibility that university administrators feel to protect student privacy with the requirement to be accountable and transparent to the public. This discussion is placed in the context of the history and purpose of post-secondary education.     

The Metaphors of Knowledge and Academic Impact

This essay discusses critically the ways in which different metaphors employed to illustrate the practices of knowledge production and knowledge acquisition as well as scientific and scholarly research shape our understanding of the academic form of life. The essay examines the metaphors of knowledge and their role in academia by means of philosophical analysis and a rhetorical analysis of language, thereby defending the core values of academic freedom. It focuses on two pairs of metaphors highly relevant to the tensions characteristic of contemporary academic work: verticality and horizontality, on the one hand, and change and stability, on the other. The entanglement of perspectives from philosophy and historical rhetoric serves a metaphilosophical goal here: to show that our philosophical understanding of the nature of inquiry will be considerably enhanced if we seriously, and with both historical and literary sensibilities, study the metaphors we use in characterizing our epistemic and cognitive projects.
