Satisfaction with HyFlex Teaching and Law-abiding Leadership Education in Hong Kong University Students Under COVID-19

Since the early days of COVID-19, university teaching has changed from face-to-face format to online mode. With the gradual containment of the pandemic, there is no need for school lockdown. As a result, the teaching format has changed to HyFlex mode integrating both face-to-face and online modes. Obviously, it is necessary to understand the academic quality of life among students under the Hyflex teaching mode. In this paper, we report an evaluation study on a leadership subject in Hong Kong delivered via HyFlex teaching using a post-lecture evaluation strategy. In one of the lectures, we covered law-abiding leadership in university students, including abiding by the Hong Kong National Security Law. The post-lecture evaluation showed that students generally held positive views toward the HyFlex teaching and they perceived that the subject promoted their well-being indexed by psychosocial competence. Regarding the lecture on law-abiding leadership, students agreed that the lecture promoted their psychosocial competence, personal development, knowledge about law-abiding behavior and national security (including the Hong Kong National Security Law), and readiness to serve as socially responsible leaders. Positive perceptions of the lecture design, teacher performance, lecture content of law-abiding leadership and national security, and benefits positively predicted students’ overall satisfaction with the lecture on law-abiding leadership and national security.

     

6-12岁儿童抑制能力的发展：来自停止信号任务的证据

利用停止信号任务考察了202名一至六年级小学生抑制能力的发展趋势。被试完成一个视觉上的图形判断任务,在25%的试次中,呈现一个声音信号要求被试抑制反应。以无停止信号下的反应时来衡量反应执行能力,用停止信号反应时（SSRT）来衡量反应抑制能力。结果发现,反应抑制能力随着年龄增长而提高,具体表现为五六年级儿童的抑制能力优于三四年级和一二年级学生的抑制能力。对于反应执行能力,三四年级与一二年级没有差异,而五六年级的成绩显著优于其他年级。结果表明,五六年级儿童的反应执行能力和反应抑制能力都有显著发展。     

Scale-dependent fracture mode in Cu–Ni laminate composites

Fracture behavior of Cu–Ni laminate composites has been investigated by tensile testing. It was found that as the individual layer thickness decreases from 100 to 20 nm, the resultant fracture angle of the Cu–Ni laminate changes from 72° to 50°. Cross-sectional observations reveal that the fracture of the Ni layers transforms from opening to shear mode as the layer thickness decreases while that of the Cu layers keeps shear mode. Competition mechanisms were proposed to understand the variation in fracture mode of the metallic laminate composites associated with length scale.     

Twinning in cryomilled nanocrystalline Mg powder

Nanocrystalline (nc) Mg powder was synthesized via cryomilling. Extension twins were identified with high-resolution transmission electron microscopy in the cryomilled powders and the study presents the first evidence of twinning in unalloyed nc Mg. The formation of twins in the nc Mg is attributed to a high strain rate, the low (cryogenic) temperature and high local shear stresses present around the grain boundaries during deformation by cryomilling.     

Processing biological gender and number information during Chinese pronoun resolution: ERP evidence for functional differentiation

There have been a number of behavioral and neural studies on the processing of syntactic gender and number agreement information, marked by different morpho-syntactic features during sentence comprehension. By using the event-related potential (ERP) technique, the present study investigated whether the processing of semantic gender information and the processing of notional number information can be differentiated and to what extent they might interact during Chinese pronoun resolution. The pronoun (with singular form in Experiment 1 and with plural form in Experiment 2) in a sentence matched its antecedent or mismatched it with respect to either biological gender or notional number or both. While the number mismatch elicited a P600 effect starting from 550 ms (for singular pronoun) or 400 ms (for plural pronoun) post-onset of the pronoun, the gender mismatch elicited an earlier (for singular) and larger (for both singular and plural) P600 effect. More importantly, the double mismatch produced a P600 effect identical to the effect elicited by the single gender mismatch. These results demonstrate that biological gender information and notional number information are processed differentially and have different processing priorities during Chinese pronoun resolution.

工作场所中的主观幸福感干预研究*

旨在探讨基于持续幸福理论的感恩、助人和追求目标的主观幸福感干预方法在国内工作场所中的有效性。采用随机分组安慰剂控制的方式,将3家企业的140名员工随机分为3个干预组、1个安慰剂控制组和1个空白对照组,进行持续一周的干预,并分别在干预前、干预结束时和干预结束2周后对被试的主观幸福感进行测试。结果发现记录感恩能够显著提升生活满意度;助人行为能够显著提升生活满意度、积极情绪,且能降低消极情绪;追求目标能显著提升生活满意度和降低消极情绪。结果表明上述三种干预方法能有效提高工作场所人员的主观幸福感。
