How does workplace ostracism hurt employee creativity? Thriving at work as a mediator and organization-based self-esteem as a moderator

Drawing on the socially embedded model of thriving and conservation of resources theory, we explore the negative effect of workplace ostracism on employee thriving. We model organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) as a moderator and extend our examination to the downstream implications of thriving for employee creativity. Using a scenario-based experiment (Study 1) with 387 working adults, we find that workplace ostracism is more likely to prevent workers with higher levels of OBSE from thriving at work. This finding is verified in Study 2, in which we use multiwave, multisource data collected from 207 employees and their supervisors to test the proposed model. The results further show that for employees with higher levels of OBSE, thriving at work is more likely to mediate the relationship between workplace ostracism and employee creativity. These findings provide important practical implications for fostering employee thriving and promoting creativity in the workplace by managing workplace ostracism.

睡眠限制已然成为现代社会人们普遍面临的问题, 其对个体身心机能的影响备受研究者关注。众多研究表明, 睡眠限制会对注意功能、执行功能和长时记忆等不同认知领域的心理加工产生差异化影响, 且影响程度与任务类型、睡眠限制的严重程度、年龄和性别等因素相关。研究者们提出了4种主要的作用假说：唤醒假说、注意控制假说、警觉性假说以及前额皮层易感性假说。未来研究需要从关注个体间差异、使用动脉自旋标记灌注功能磁共振成像技术以及重视轻度睡眠限制的影响等角度进行深化和扩展。     

Effectiveness of a moral and benevolent leader: Probing the interactions of the dimensions of paternalistic leadership

Paternalistic leadership has three dimensions: authoritarianism, benevolence and morality. Although it is important to understand how these dimensions interact to impact leadership effectiveness, previous studies have failed to identify consistent interaction effects of these dimensions, probably because of the high intercorrelations among the three dimensions. By manipulating the three dimensions independently in an experimental study ( N  = 265 Taiwanese employees), we found that: (i) benevolence and morality increased subordinates' deference to supervisor and work motivation, although authoritarianism was unrelated to these outcomes; and (ii) benevolence and morality interacted to affect the same employee outcomes. Specifically, benevolent and moral leaders elicited more favourable employee outcomes than leaders exhibiting other leadership styles.

网络社会支持对中职生生活满意度的影响:公正世界信念和感恩的中介作用

为探讨网络社会支持对中职生生活满意度的影响,以及公正世界信念和感恩在其中的中介作用,采用网络社会支持问卷、公正世界信念问卷、感恩量表和生活满意度量表对656名中职生进行调查。结果发现:(1)网络社会支持、公正世界信念、感恩和生活满意度之间两两显著正相关;(2)网络社会支持对生活满意度没有直接预测作用,但可以通过两条路径的间接作用影响中职生生活满意度:通过公正世界信念的中介作用;通过感恩的中介作用。研究结果进一步揭示网络社会支持对生活满意度的作用机制,能为提升中职生的心理社会适应提供理论指导。

意识形态问题是一个现实性很强而又敏感的理论课题.马克思被普遍认为是在意识形态概念史上提供了最丰富理论成果的作家[1],但关于马克思意识形态概念的内涵学术界长期以来聚讼不已.他山之石,可以攻玉,英国学者乔治·拉伦的<马克思主义与意识形态>一书对马克思主义意识形态领域的演变与发展进行了广泛和深入的研究,特别是第一章对马克思意识形态概念的辨析,对我们当前的研究有重要的启发和借鉴意义.

"和谐世界"理念是我国领导人经过深思熟虑并逐渐明确的重大战略方针,是我国国际战略的最新发展.建设"和谐世界"与构建"和谐社会"是相辅相成的,它们共同构成新时期我国的总体发展战略."和谐世界"理念是我国和平外交政策的集中体现,是我国地缘安全战略的实质升华,是制定地缘安全战略的理论前提,是营造地缘安全环境的重要法宝,是实现地缘安全战略的根本保证.落实科学发展观,建设和谐社会,必然要求建设和谐周边、和谐亚洲、和谐世界,这是我国经济发展和现代化建设的客观需要,也是我国地缘安全战略的不二选择.客观地分析我国周边地缘安全环境的现状,必须看到尚存在着的不和谐因素,我国的周边安全面临着挑战和变数.和谐周边是我国地缘安全战略所追求的重要目标,而要实现这一目标,必须积极推动多边安全合作,大力促进周边地区的和谐与合作.     

In the Eye of the Beholder: Differences Across Ethnicity and Gender in Evaluating Creative Work

Creativity has been proposed as a supplement to ability tests as a way to reduce bias, as a result of the typical lack of ethnic or gender differences. Yet, creativity is usually measured through a consensus of rater judgment. Could there be implicit biases against people of different ethnicities or gender? This study examined stories and poems written by 205 students and rated by 108 different students. Females wrote poems that were judged to be more creative; there were no significant differences by ethnicity across all raters. Among notable findings, European Americans and African Americans both preferred stories written by European Americans. Reasons for this and other findings are discussed.     

Online low‐key conspicuous behavior of fashion luxury goods: The antecedents and its impact on consumer happiness

Nowadays, people tend to show off in a more conservative rather than ostentatious way, that is, “low‐key style.” This paper focuses on consumers' low‐key conspicuous behavior on social media after they purchase fashion luxury goods, so as to explore the antecedents of this behavior, as well as its impact, on consumer happiness. Our results show that motivations for self‐representation and avoidance of negative comments from others trigger the low‐key conspicuous behavior. Afterward, this behavior will positively affect consumers' short‐term happiness through both perceived self‐image and perceived interpersonal relationship, while enhancing long‐term happiness only through perceived interpersonal relationship. The reason may be that the temporary pleasure brought by the improvement of perceived self‐image is not enough to raise the quality of life, but an improvement in one's interpersonal relationship is a lifelong benefit.
