Rethinking Collaborative Learning Through Participation in an Interdisciplinary Research Project: Tensions and Negotiations as Key Points in Knowledge Production

As social and cultural psychologists of learning, we are persuaded of the crucial role of interaction in development and learning. But how do we experience this assumption in our own research practices and in our collaboration with colleagues? Taking as our object of study our own participation in a European Research and Development project that aimed to enhance interactive and argumentative skills in learning settings, this study shows how collaboration among project partners is not something that is to be taken for granted, but something that is elaborated and evolves in time, takes diverse forms, and is mediated by multiple tools. The psychological processes—more particularly tensions and negotiation—involved in collaboration are developed and discussed. The study explores the processes of establishing collaboration and, through the analysis of specific zones of tensions, sheds light on the way new knowledge (on how to do research, how to communicate, how to work together) is constructed. It contributes to the understanding of the issues and conditions for the development of a community of practice.     

A Report on Information Dissemination Strategies: The Case of Da’wah Academy,Pakistan

Information dissemination is a term used to describe the distribution or broadcasting of information (IGI Global). Using the case-study method, this article has investigates various information dissemination strategies used by Da’wah Academy for Da’wah purposes. The study concluded that Da’wah Academy is using both traditional and modern information dissemination strategies to convey the message of Islam within Pakistan and abroad. This report recommends that Da’wah Academy should begin publishing in electronic format to widen the use and sale of their publications. There is a need to focus on web-based information dissemination and to extend the use of social media to pull information among information seekers. It is recommended that the Academy initiate online distance learning courses along with traditional correspondence courses to cater needs of far-flung areas.     

Forensic telepsychiatry in the United Kingdom

Forensic telepsychiatry remains in its infancy in the United Kingdom. This article sets out to describe how it can be used within a community forensic service, and the future challenges ahead in the United Kingdom. It looks at relevant academic, governmental, and legal resources and is designed as a scholarly reflection by clinicians rather than as a formal literature review.

ABSTRACT: A case of autocastration is presented and a psychodynamic formulation is proposed. Implications for treatment are discussed.
