Expression in musical performance is largely communicated by the manner in which a piece is played; interpretive aspects that supplement the written score. In piano performance, timing and amplitude are the principal parameters the performer can vary. We examined the way in which such variation serves to communicate emotion by manipulating timing and amplitude in performances of classical piano pieces. Over three experiments, listeners rated the emotional expressivity of performances and their manipulated versions. In Experiments 1 and 2, timing and amplitude information were covaried; judgments were monotonically decreasing with performance variability, demonstrating that the rank ordering of acoustical manipulations was captured by participants' responses. Further, participants' judgments formed an S-shaped (sigmoidal) function in which greater sensitivity was seen for musical manipulations in the middle of the range than at the extremes. In Experiment 3, timing and amplitude were manipulated independently; timing variation was found to provide more expressive information than did amplitude. Across all three experiments, listeners demonstrated sensitivity to the expressive cues we manipulated, with sensitivity increasing as a function of musical experience. 相似文献

Relationship influences on teachers' perceptions of academic competence in academically at-risk minority and majority first grade students 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This study examined the associations among child demographic variables, teacher perceptions of parent-teacher and student-teacher relationship quality, and teacher perceptions of children's academic abilities in an ethnically diverse sample of 607 academically at-risk first grade children. Relative to relationships with African American children and parents, teachers rated their relationships with White and Hispanic children and parents more positively. Measures of relationship quality added unique variance to teachers' perceptions of children's abilities, controlling for parent educational level and measured ability. Relationship variables fully mediated the association between African American status and teachers' perceptions of children's abilities. Implications of the findings for teacher in-service and professional development and for parent involvement programs are discussed. 相似文献

“政治技术”是公共权力存在和运作过程中所内含和体现出的客观社会技术形式。当前,学术界对政治技术的研究视角主要体现在政治学和技术哲学两方面;研究内容主要表现为对政治技术问题的原则性肯定,对政治与技术关系的理论研究,对政治特定领域的政治技术的论述,对与政治技术相关或相近的政治理论的研究等方面。就整体而言,除少量研究成果较为集中外,对政治技术并未形成自觉的问题意识和统一有效的研究范式,往往视政治技术为毋须证明与细究的自明性命题,前期学术沉淀相对薄弱。 相似文献

我国正步入公民社会.公共生活伦理应当成为我国当前社会道德建设的重心.公民自治既是公民社会的重要特征,也是道德的重要特征.因此公民社会里公共领域的道德建设也应从公民道德自治这一实际情况出发.公民社会的另一个特征是公民自愿组织的出现与存在.这些组织具有特定的伦理功能.这些功能表明这些组织既是公民道德实现自治的平台,也是我国公共生活领域公民伦理建设的主要途径. 相似文献
