童年晚期同伴关系不利与儿童的攻击行为:自我概念与同伴信念的中介作用

采用整群抽样法选取1806名小学儿童(平均年龄11.27±0.36岁)为被试,考察同伴拒绝、侵害两种同伴关系不利与儿童攻击行为间的关系、以及儿童的自我概念与同伴信念在其中的中介作用.结果发现,(1)同伴拒绝、侵害与儿童的身体攻击、关系攻击显著正相关,与儿童的自我概念、同伴信念显著负相关,自我概念、同伴信念与两类攻击显著相关.(2)同伴拒绝、关系侵害对身体攻击和关系攻击具有正向预测作用;身体侵害仅对身体攻击具有正向预测作用,对关系攻击无显著影响.(3)儿童的身体自我概念、社交自我概念及同伴信念在同伴拒绝、同伴侵害与攻击的联系中具有中介作用.本研究结果表明,同伴拒绝对儿童的身体攻击、关系攻击主要表现为直接效应,不同类型的侵害经历与儿童攻击间的联系存在类型特定性.

How Gödel Relates Platonism to Mathematics

It is well known that Gödel takes his realistic world view as closely related to mathematics, especially to his own work in the foundations of mathematics. He reports, publicly as well as privately, that Platonism is fundamental to his major work in logic and set theory, and suggests that this philosophical position can be seen as a product of reflections on mathematics. These views of Gödel, however, are often regarded as being insufficiently formulated or argued for. In this article, the author tries to consider some points which are related to the understanding of the Gödelian mode of the interaction between mathematics and philosophy.     

Mathematics Performance of Immigrant Students Across Different Racial Groups: An Indirect Examination of the Influence of Culture and Schooling

Immigrant students are commonly assumed lower performers in US schools. Their inadequate English language skills and adaptation to the mainstream US school norms are often seen as obstacles to their successful school learning. However, whether and to what extent this assumption is sustainable for immigrant students' performances in mathematics is the question that has not been empirically explored. Proper answer to the question would help verify the popular assumption about the immigrant students and their learning in the mainstream US schools. Guided by the straight-line, segmented assimilation and cultural capital theories, this study examined this issue using US grades 4 and 8 datasets of Trend in International Mathematics and Science Study 2007 and 15-year-old dataset of Program for International Student Assessment 2009. It was found that there were substantial differences in the mathematics performances of students across different racial groups. Being immigrant students does not always mean they are lower performers than their mainstream peers. The immigrant students coming to the USA earlier did not always show worse mathematics performance over their immigrant peers who came to the USA later. These findings challenge the popular assumption that immigrant students' inadequate English language skills and adaptation to the mainstream US school norms are obstacles to their successful school learning and call for a deeper understanding about the academic performance of immigrant students in different content areas and at various stages of immigration across different racial groups.     

样例多样性和流畅性信念对类别学习判断的影响

目的:通过三个实验考查样例特征、流畅性和信念对类别学习及其元认知判断的影响。方法:实验1采用2(样例特征)×2(测试类型)的组内设计以检验样例特征的作用; 实验2采用2(样例特征)×2(测试类型)×2(流畅性)的组内设计以检验流畅性的作用; 实验3采用2(样例特征)×2(测试类型)×2(流畅性信念)的混合设计以检验信念对类别学习判断的作用。结果表明:样例特征影响学习成绩、类别学习判断和流畅感; 流畅性不会影响类别学习判断; 原理解释能够有效建立“关于流畅性的信念”,且“关于流畅性的信念”对类别学习判断起作用。即样例多样性和流畅性信念对类别学习判断起作用,支持信念假说。     

Dynamic and quasi-static mechanical properties of fibre-reinforced metallic glass at different temperatures

We have investigated the dynamic and quasi-static mechanical properties of a tungsten fibre-reinforced Zr_41.25Ti_13.75Ni₁₀Cu_12.5Be_22.5 bulk metallic glass composite (W/BMG) at temperatures ranging from 77 to 473?K. It was found that the yield stress and elastic modulus of the composite increase while strain-to-failure decreases with decreasing temperature. Tests under uniaxial dynamic compression showed that the W/BMG has a higher yield stress than under quasi-static compression. It was shown that yielding of the composite material is dominated by a shear banding process in the glass matrix, which is essentially a viscous flow as a consequence of local adiabatic heating. The interval between the nominal testing temperature and the temperature at which shear bands initiate is a key factor affecting the shear banding process, rendering the properties of the W/BMG very sensitive to temperature.     

Sex differences in the reciprocal relationships between mild and severe corporal punishment and children's internalizing problem behavior in a Chinese sample

The study aimed to investigate the sex differences in the reciprocal relations between parental corporal punishment and child internalizing problem behavior in China. Four hundred fifty-four Chinese elementary school-age children completed measures of their parental corporal punishment toward them and their own internalizing problem behavior at two time points, 6 months apart. Structural equation modeling revealed that both parental mild and severe corporal punishment significantly predicted child internalizing problem behavior for girls, but only parental severe corporal punishment marginally predicted child internalizing problem behavior for boys; child internalizing problem behavior predicted both mild and severe corporal punishment for boys but not for girls. The findings highlight the important role of severity of corporal punishment and child sex in understanding the relations between parental corporal punishment and child internalizing problem behavior and have implications for the intervention efforts aimed at reducing child internalizing symptoms or parental corporal punishment in China.     

Interactive processing among parts, configuration, and orientation of complex objects

The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the representation of parts and the configuration and orientation of complex objects were separate or interdependent. Participants were asked to match parts and configuration of novel 3-D objects with constant or varied features in irrelevant dimensions. The results of both Exp. 1 (sequential matching) and Exp. 2 (simultaneous matching) showed that both sensitivity and response time (RT) of part matching were influenced by whether the irrelevant configuration remained constant or varied. Both sensitivity and RT for configuration matching were affected by the variation of irrelevant parts in Exp. 2, but only sensitivity was affected in Exp. 1. These results demonstrated an interdependent pattern of representations of parts and relations but different interactive patterns in memory and perception. The results of Exp. 3 showed orientation dependency in a configuration-matching task but orientation invariance in a part-matching task. Consistent with a study done in 2000 by Edelman and Intrator, these results suggest an interactive processing between configuration and orientation but an independent processing between the parts and orientation.
