The role of inhibitory control in the development of analogical reasoning: From general to specific

This study examined the role of inhibitory control in the development of analogical reasoning using inter-task priming paradigms. In Experiment 1, 25 seven-year-olds, 27 nine-year-olds, and 27 adults completed Stroop tasks, which activated general inhibitory control ability, before analogical reasoning tasks. Children and adults performed faster on analogical reasoning tasks when they were primed by Stroop tasks. This priming effect was found to be stronger in children than in adults. In Experiment 2, 25 seven-year-olds, 28 nine-year-olds, and 28 adults completed relative number matching tasks, a more task-relevant inhibitory control task, before analogical reasoning tasks. The children and adults performed faster on analogical reasoning tasks when primed by relative number matching tasks. The priming effect was greater in seven-year-olds than in nine-year-olds and was greater in nine-year-olds than in adults. Thus, inhibitory control, whether assessed with general or specific tasks, played a priming role in analogical reasoning.

谭嗣同30岁前后接触基督教,与傅兰雅、马尚德、李提摩太等传教士交往,从基督教思想中吸收了许多观念。在他看来,孔、佛、耶三教完全能够会通,而且基督教、孔教与佛教将会依次盛行。他对孔教充满信心,希望孔教更加宗教化,并且效仿基督教来传播孔教、改革孔教。基督教思想对《仁学》的建构有重要意义,除从中引入"以太"概念外,他还将"灵魂"概念引入"仁学"体系,加深了对"仁"的思想阐发;引入"博爱"与"平等"的观念,形成"仁-通-平等"的这一"仁学"体系核心思想。     

光孝寺药师佛像拓片考

1995年,商承祚先生的亲属向深圳博物馆捐赠了一幅药师佛像拓片。入馆之际,拓片已装裱为立轴,纸本纸裱,画心为一药师立佛拓片,左侧有其像座圆式铭文。铭文云:"大康六年八月十六日东作使张扬刺生得小男师留此上铸药师佛父见在法界有情生生见佛世世闻法道心坚固乃至菩提不墯恶趣。     

From a terror management perspective: The efficacy of self-affirmation on organ donation-related thoughts and intentions in China

ABSTRACT

In 2015, the Chinese government officially abolished the practice of harvesting organs from executed prisoners. However, the voluntary donor registration rate among the Chinese population is approximately 2% as of January 2020. Guided by self-affirmation theory and terror management theory, the present investigation examined a number of variables that may be related to donor registration intentions and a method to mitigate death thoughts and misconceptions. An online experiment was conducted in which 352 Chinese participants were randomly assigned to either a self-affirmation (i.e., affirming values that are important to the participants) or a no-affirmation condition. Results revealed that self-affirmation lowered death thoughts among the participants, which in turn were positively related to organ donation misperceptions. Inconsistent with terror management theory, the level of death thoughts was not directly related to participants’ intentions to register as organ donors. Instead, the relationship between the two was mediated by misperceptions toward organ donation.
