Jeannerod (1981) proposed that prehensile movements involve two independent visuomotor channels that are responsible for hand transport and hand aperture. In many studies, the movement of a marker placed on the wrist has been used as an index of hand transport because wrist movement is unaffected by the movements of the digits responsible for hand aperture. In the present study, the spatial paths of the wrist, index finger, and thumb of 5 adults, each performing 50 reaching movements, were measured with a WATSMART movement tracking system, and their variability was analyzed. The measures of movement variability suggest that the motor system is more concerned with thumb position than with wrist position during hand transport. Although the wrist is a technically convenient index of hand transport, the thumb may be a more appropriate index from the point of view of motor control  相似文献

In this paper, we report the results from two experiments in which subjects were required to discriminate horizontal load forces applied to a manipulandum held with a precision grip. The roughness (and hence friction) of the grip surfaces and required grip force were manipulated. In the first experiment, subjects were instructed to judge the load while maintaining hand position and not letting the manipulandum slip. It was found that performance was influenced by surface texture; a given load was judged to be greater when the surface texture was smooth than when it was rough. This result is consistent with a previous study based on lifting objects and indicates that the effect of surface texture applies to loads in general and not just to gravitational loads (i.e., weight). To test whether the load acting on a smooth object is judged to be greater because the grip force required to prevent it from slipping is larger, a second experiment was carried out. Subjects used a visual feedback display to maintain the same grip force for smooth and rough manipulandum surfaces. In this case, there was no effect of surface texture on load perception. These results provide evidence that perceived load depends on the grip force used to resist the load. The implications of these results in terms of central and peripheral factors underlying load discrimination are considered.  相似文献

A model for the timing of repetitive discrete motor responses is proposed, and a prediction of negative dependency between successive interresponse intervals is confirmed by data from a Morse key tapping task. A method that makes use of the first-order serial correlation between interresponse intervals is used to distinguish between variance due to a timekeeping process and variance in motor response delays subsequent to the timekeeper. As Japan marks the 75th anniversary of World War II in 2020, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe did not offer a fresh apology and maintained that future generations should not have to keep apologizing for past mistakes. This paper uses the unresolved war issue of the military comfort women system as a context to discuss what it means for political apologies to be more than mere political gestures founded on political interests and discusses what it takes to facilitate forgiveness. It will examine the features of a repentant wrongdoer who deserves forgiveness based on how one relates to one’s past wrongdoing in order to distinguish political apologies that are genuine from those that are mere gestures aimed at hasty reconciliation. This will be discussed through the works of Jacques Derrida and Vladimir Jankélévitch. Next, through Jankélévitch’s and Paul Ricoeur’s ideas of forgiveness, it will be discussed how matters of justice and forgiveness should be understood as well as how the history of past wrongs and injustice is necessary for a genuine apology and makes forgiveness possible. It is also a moral responsibility for both perpetrators and victims to remember history in order to achieve personal forgiveness as well as begin social and political reconciliation.

This article describes the development and methodology of a novel psychosocial intervention for children with high functioning autism spectrum disorder (HFASD). Originally developed as an adjunctive treatment for children with mood disorders, Multi-Family Psychoeducational Psychotherapy (MF-PEP) has been adapted for children with ASD (MF-PEP-ASD). Consisting of eight sessions, children with ASD and their parents receive psychoeducation and social support, and learn coping, problem-solving, communication, and symptom-management skills in separate and joint sessions. Core treatment components of MF-PEP-ASD include psychoeducation, social skills treatment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and parent training and involvement. Preliminary qualitative data from parent and child participants have indicated positive and promising findings. Continued evaluation of this treatment using comprehensive outcome and treatment fidelity measures is warranted.  相似文献

The present research examined what is necessary to make youth mentoring effective. Central to the discussion is mentee–mentor relationship quality in relation to program effectiveness. Data were drawn from an ongoing youth mentoring program organized in Hong Kong using a conceptual framework derived from ecological psychology to guide analysis. Data analysis followed a multistage process. Quantitative factor analysis was computed to identify the principal components of the mentee–mentor relationship. Then, to explore subjective meanings of the quantitative findings, in‐depth interviews were conducted with 48 mentees who were randomly selected from the respondents. Further statistical associations and qualitative categorizations were conducted with this subsample to examine the complex relations between the relationship outcomes and the program (functional) outcomes.  相似文献

Since family permission is necessary for organ procurement to occur in China, family discussions about posthumous organ donation are crucial for increasing the actual organ donation and transplant rate. However, this study found that among 298 Chinese young adults, most of them (88%) were reluctant to talk about organ donation with their families. Based on the Theory of Reasoned Action, this study investigated communication within families about organ donation. Psychological factors included intention, attitude, subjective norm, death anxiety, and knowledge. As expected, the subjective norm was more powerful than attitude in explaining family discussions among Chinese people. Death anxiety, but not misconception, also significantly lowered the likelihood of family discussion. It is concluded that future campaigns for lessening death anxiety and promoting the social norm for organ donation must be conducted in Chinese societies, in order to encourage family discussions and improve the donation rate.  相似文献

Background . There has been an ongoing debate about the inconsistent effects of heterogeneous ability grouping on students in small group work such as project‐based learning. Aim . The present research investigated the roles of group heterogeneity and processes in project‐based learning. At the student level, we examined the interaction effect between students' within‐group achievement and group processes on their self‐ and collective efficacy. At the group level, we examined how group heterogeneity was associated with the average self‐ and collective efficacy reported by the groups. Sample . The participants were 1,921 Hong Kong secondary students in 367 project‐based learning groups. Method . Student achievement was determined by school examination marks. Group processes, self‐efficacy and collective efficacy were measured by a student‐report questionnaire. Hierarchical linear modelling was used to analyse the nested data. Results . When individual students in each group were taken as the unit of analysis, results indicated an interaction effect of group processes and students' within‐group achievement on the discrepancy between collective‐ and self‐efficacy. When compared with low achievers, high achievers reported lower collective efficacy than self‐efficacy when group processes were of low quality. However, both low and high achievers reported higher collective efficacy than self‐efficacy when group processes were of high quality. With 367 groups taken as the unit of analysis, the results showed that group heterogeneity, group gender composition and group size were not related to the discrepancy between collective‐ and self‐efficacy reported by the students. Conclusions . Group heterogeneity was not a determinant factor in students' learning efficacy. Instead, the quality of group processes played a pivotal role because both high and low achievers were able to benefit when group processes were of high quality.  相似文献
