To date there have been no direct studies of how strong negative information from sources outside of organizations' direct control impacts job seekers' organizational attraction. This study compared models for positive and negative information against a neutral condition using a longitudinal experimental study with college-level job seekers (n = 175). Consistent with the accessibility-diagnosticity perspective, the results indicated that negative information had a greater impact than positive information on job seekers' organizational attraction and recall, and this effect persisted 1 week after exposure. The results did not indicate that the influence of information sources and topics that fit together was lessened when the information was negative. The results suggest that job seekers interpret positive and negative information differently and that negative information, when present, has an important influence on job seekers' organizational attraction.  相似文献

Divorce proportions are currently high in the US and they are even higher among those who are incarcerated with substance abuse problems. Although much research has examined marital interventions, only two studies have examined marital interventions with prison populations. There is some empirical evidence that incarcerated couples benefit from traditional marital therapy (O'Farrell and Fals‐Stewart, 1999, Addictions: A comprehensive guidebook, New York, Oxford University Press). An adaptation of the evidence‐based Creating Lasting Family Connections program was implemented with 144 married couples, where one spouse was incarcerated, in a southern state with particularly high divorce and incarceration proportions. Results suggested that married men exposed to the program had larger improvements in some relationship skills relative to a convenience sample of men not so exposed. Both husbands and wives exposed to the program exhibited similar and significant increases in relationship skills. The results were comparable to a Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program adaptation for inmates. The implications of the findings for prevention practitioners are discussed.  相似文献

The ecological crisis is confronting humanity with a need to recognize the interconnectedness of all life, and the Akashic Field as formulated by Ervin Laszlo (2004a) has identified how a universal information field connects humans to a greater transpersonal consciousness. The Akashic Field could provide humanity with a focus to deepen its understanding of a holistic view of life. Training accurately predicted sales forces' performance nearly 50% of the time in a national research study of paper and plastics merchant wholesalers' sales force effectiveness. The top performing sales forces front-load the length of training for new salespeople and broaden its methods, sources, and contents. Managerial recommendations are to: (a) reallocate training budgets that balance new and experienced salespersons' training, (b) re-focus on training content to balance strategy-oriented training with knowledge and interpersonal communication skill areas of training content, (c) diversify training sources and methods for new salespersons' training, and (d) involve suppliers and customers in merchant sales force training.  相似文献

Abstract

Synthetic diamonds grown by the temperature-gradient method at temperatures just above the melting point of the solvent-catalyst often have an unattractive dull-green colour. This green colour, which is prominent at room-temperature, disappears if the diamond is cooled to below 120 K and is restored on warming the crystal back to room temperature. We show that the behaviour of the absorption band responsible for the colour is consistent with the transition occurring from the upper level of a centre with a split ground state, for which transitions from the lower level are forbidden. Temperature-dependence measurements indicate that the energy splitting in the ground state is about 50 meV. The broad featureless absorption band, with a maximum near 1·9eV, is assumed to be vibronic in origin. The absence of structure in the band indicates that the electronic transition is strongly coupled to the lattice and, as expected, the zero-phonon line, estimated to be at around 1eV, is too weak to detect. The same absorption band is also shown to be present in some individual crystals of synthetic diamond abrasive grit.  相似文献

We report the twin-coupled multi-oriented domain structures in the epitaxial BZT20 (20%Zr) films grown on the (001) MgO substrate using pulsed-laser deposition. Transmission electron microscopy shows that the film consists of an epitaxial layer of pseudo-cubic perovskite structure and a nanopillar layer of multi-oriented twin domain structures near the surface. Four types of the twin domains were formed in the nanopillar layers by coherently joining their {111} with the epilayer and aligning their ?110? directions parallel to the ?110? axes of the epilayer. A non-uniform polarization switching behavior was observed due to the formation of such complex structure in the BZT20 films.  相似文献

Reflecting the importance of optimizing culture for elite teams, Fletcher and Arnold (2011) recently suggested the need for expertise in culture change. Acknowledging the dearth of literature on the specific process, however, the potential effectiveness of practitioners in this area is unknown. The present paper examines the activity's precise demands and the validity of understanding in sport psychology and organizational research to support its delivery. Recognizing that sport psychologists are being increasingly utilized by elite team management, initial evidence-based guidelines are presented. Finally, to stimulate the development of ecologically valid, practically meaningful knowledge, the paper identifies a number of future research directions.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the simultaneous prompting procedure in teaching paragraph composition to 4, 5th grade students identified with emotional behavioral disorder (EBD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The instructor taught students how to construct and proofread a 5-sentence paragraph using the simultaneous prompting procedure with embedded non-targeted information related to the writing process. A multiple probe design across participants assessed effectiveness of the procedure. Results indicated that all students learned to compose a paragraph, acquired the non-targeted information, maintained the skills up to 6 weeks later, and generalized the skills to other writing tasks.  相似文献

A multifactorial between-groups experiment examined the effects of person-focused organizational citizenship behaviours (OCBP) on the performance of teams characterized by different levels of virtuality and task interdependence. Results reveal in low virtual teams the moderating effects of task interdependence on the OCBP–team performance relationship are positive; however, these effects are reversed in high virtual teams. Using social presence and task–technology fit theories, our results indicate that task context affects how OCBP impacts team performance, particularly across different levels of team virtuality. The implications for research on OCB and the management of virtual teams are discussed.  相似文献
