Individuals who have interactions with the criminal justice system, including incarceration, or who have a criminal case pending, can receive Community Mental Health Services Block Grant (MHBG) funds for their care and treatment, according to a letter written by Elinore F. McCance‐Katz, M.D., Ph.D., assistant secretary for mental health and substance use at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The Feb. 2 letter addressed to the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) served to clarify some confusion about the use of MHBG funds, according to NASMHPD's Weekly Update on Feb. 14. 相似文献

Helping young people understand their mental health needs and to ultimately take charge of them is only part of the story involving an innovative Washington state–based youth‐led peer support program. The youth and young adults who graduate to become certified peer counselors go on to work in community mental health centers or seek higher education, with the goal of becoming therapists, social workers or psychiatrists. 相似文献

The American Psychological Association (APA) responded to remarks made by Senator Ben Sasse (R‐Nebraska) during an online commencement address May 16 to Nebraska's Fremont High School. The APA said Sasse's remarks were “disrespectful” and ignored the mental health crisis in America. The organization added that psychologists are on the front lines of the pandemic, treating stress and anxiety related to COVID‐19. 相似文献

COVID‐19 is undoubtedly placing a considerable toll on parents, according to the American Psychological Association's (APA's) annual Stress in America report, with many saying that working from home while coordinating their children's online learning is causing a significant amount of stress. To better understand how individuals are coping with the extreme stress of this crisis, the APA has adapted its annual stress poll into a monthly analysis of stressors and stress levels, officials stated. 相似文献
