Research investigating differences in attitudes among full-time and part-time employees has a long history. Unfortunately, the empirical results have been mixed and conflicting. To resolve inconsistencies in prior research, the authors conducted 2 studies. In the 1st study, the authors developed a measure of work status congruence, which measures the degree to which employers match employee preferences for full-time or part-time status, schedule, shift, and number of hours. The authors hypothesized that a match or congruence between worker preferences and organizational staffing practices would be associated with positive employee attitudes and behaviors. In the 2nd study, the authors tested these hypotheses. The results indicate that work status congruence is positively associated with job satisfaction, organizational commitment, employee retention, as well as in-role and extra-role performance.  相似文献

This study investigates the relationship between creative personality composition, innovative team climate, and team innovation based on an input‐process‐output model. We measured personality with the Creative Person Profile, team climate with the Team Climate Inventory, and team innovation through team‐member and supervisor reports of team innovativeness. The personality composition in each of 29 teams in a television production company was operationalized by mean scores for each creative personality variable, as well as the combination of different creative personality variables within a team. The team climate variable “vision” mediated the relationship between the mean level of associative orientation in teams and team innovation. The team climate variable “support of innovation” mediated the relationship between the joint variables of mean level of ambition x mean level of motivation and team innovation. The results indicated that when there are relationships between creative personality composition and team innovativeness, they are mediated by an innovative team climate.  相似文献

The study of negatively connotated personality characteristics as predictors of work‐related performance is gaining momentum. While findings have generally suggested such characteristics to be negatively or curvilinearly related to performance, the current study was concerned with investigating any positive relationships that may exist between negatively connotated personality characteristics (as measured by the Hogan Development Survey) and work‐related performance in a sample of 103 Australasian financial services managers. The most notable findings from the study were that: (a) schizotypal personality characteristics positively predicted performance on a creativity competency; and (b) dependent personality characteristics positively predicted performance on a customer focus competency. Inequity in its many forms has been the subject of a number of empirical research efforts. Results show that positive inequity, an over-benefited condition, and negative inequity, an under-benefited condition, have divergent effects on subsequent affects and behavioral tendencies. We embed equity treatments within a motivational structure to predict reactions to a quasi-shopping experience in which these methods operate in concert. Interaction effects—predicted by procedural justice considerations as well as instrumentally based arguments—are also tested whereby technical motivation is crossed with the equity conditions. In testing, an online experiment was created incorporating pre- and posttreatment measures. While completing a hypothetical sale, respondents received either an unanticipated, completed coupon field (the over-benefited group), an uncompleted, empty coupon field (the under-benefited group), or were not prompted with a coupon field (the control group). Results showed strong negative effects on postexposure satisfaction, intention, and desire to complete the purchase in the empty coupon field group, and similar positive effects in the completed coupon field group. Moreover, a model linking preexposure variables (expectations and technical sophistication) to postexposure measures was supported indicating carry-through effects. Lastly, procedural justice and instrumental predictions received mixed support when testing for the interaction between technical motivation and inequity. Results showed that, for those in the under-benefited group, there was only a slight tendency for those with higher levels of technical sophistication to report greater satisfaction; however a strong tendency was found for the same individuals to report a lower likelihood of completing the purchase. Implications for future research are discussed.  相似文献

Subjects responded “yes” if two equal-length strings of letters contained a common letter in a common position; otherwise they responded “no.” Thus, the task was to judge whether all or not all of the letters in one string differed from the letter occupying the corresponding position in the other string. Conversely, in “same”-“different” judgment, the task is to judge whether all or not all of the letters in one string match the corresponding letter in the other string. Thus, common-letter judgment and “same”-“different” judgment are symmetrically related with “no” analogous to “same” and “yes” analogous to “different.” The response “same” is often faster than the response “different.” However, in the common-letter task, “no” was slower than “yes.” More specifically, both the “yes” and “no” reaction times were consistent with a serial self-terminating search. This is precisely what would be expected from Bamber’s (1969) two-process model.  相似文献

The present study investigates the effects of violent experiences in childhood on current domestic violence and marital adjustment, using adult attachment theory as a conceptual framework. A nonclinical sample of 644 Canadian adults in long‐term romantic relationships completed measures of adult romantic attachment, conflict tactics scales, and dyadic adjustment. Structural equation modeling revealed that early experiences of violence affect adults' intimate violence directly and indirectly through anxiety over abandonment and avoidance of intimacy. The actor–partner interdependence model illustrated the importance of early exposure to violence in predicting both partners' attachment representations, intimate violence, and couple adjustment. Findings are discussed with reference to the clinical issues surrounding minor violence against the intimate partner.  相似文献
