Organizational recruitment activities have been hypothesized to affect applicants' reactions to the organization, independent of effects exerted by the job attributes associated with the position (e.g., location, salary, title). This research utilized a correlational design and a field setting in assessing applicants' reactions to a five-stage recruitment program. Recruitment activities were significantly related to applicants' reactions only at the initial interview stage. Conversely, job attributes emerged as significant predictors of applicants' reactions at each of the four recruitment stages where they were assessed. No support was found for three hypothesized moderating variables–the perceived comparability of job offers, applicants' work experience, and their labor market opportunities. Suggestions for strengthening organizational recruitment programs and for directing further research are discussed.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the problem of socialization of the disabled child within his family. For the family of the disabled child, socialization is doubly challenging; the family must teach its child not only how to be human, but also how to be disabled in the larger society. Often families of disabled children need help in enhancing their child's participation in family life — a critical aspect of socialization. One highly effective means of assisting families in this task is the use of family therapy. A case study is included to illustrate the use of family interviewing with a congenitally blind adolescent boy. Two therapists — a rehabilitation counselor (who is blind) from a state agency serving blind childrena and a social worker from a child guidance agencyb— collaborated in working with the family, which included a mother, father, their congenitally blind thirteen-year-old boy, and his two sighted brothers. The authors conclude that the child's family is the most potentially powerful resource for the successful habilitation of the disabled child into larger society and postulate family treatment as an effective means of attaining this end.  相似文献

When assumed by positions of dominance, the impersonal, analytical perspectives of scholar-narrators may serve to flatten, simplify, or render invisible the differences of constructed Others. Strategies of resistance necessarily correspond to where narrator-subjects enter relations of power. Without the presence of Others’ narrations, dominance can neither value newly visible subjective agency nor confront the complicity in its own subjectivity. Intersubjectivity suggests a dialogical process that utilizes differences in lived experience to reconceive relationality.  相似文献
