Out of the depths: Pastoral care to the severely depressed

The Judeo-Christian tradition has a unique and important contribution to make to the field of mental health. The knowledge gleaned from such sciences as psychiatry and psychology need not threaten the integrity of that tradition. Instead, a relationship with those disciplines can be mutually beneficial. One such instance is how Psalm 22 enhances our understanding of the experience of depression as well as informing our pastoral response.

抗精氨酸加压素单克隆抗体对小鼠行为的影响

本工作在我们已报道的外源性精氨酸加压素([Arg~8] Vasoprpssin,AVP)促进小鼠记忆巩固结果的基础上,应用本实验室研制成功的抗精氨酸加压素单克隆抗体(Monoclonal Antibody to[Arg~8]Vasopressin,AVPMcAb)中枢及外周注射,观察小鼠内源性AVP对记忆巩固的影响。结果为:中枢注射AVP-McAb1.5—4.5毫微克/鼠后,小鼠抑制性回避反应的潜伏期和生理盐水对照组相比,均显著缩短(P<0.05);而外周尾静脉注射AVPMcAb0.15—1.50微克/鼠对小鼠此行为反应无影响,与生理盐水组对比,潜伏期无显著性差异。这提示,中枢内源性生理水平的加压素可能对小鼠记忆巩固起易化作用,而外周的加压素在生理条件下可能无此效应。 小鼠游泳试验中,训练后立即中枢注射AVPMcAb也降低小鼠游泳平衡的反应。这暗示,中枢内源性加压素在该行为模式上也参与记忆的调制过程。     

呼吸阻力感觉评量的模糊集途径

在本工作中,呼吸阻力感觉被看作是一种模糊量。采用模糊集的途径揭示了这一模糊量的可能性分布。在此基础上,建立了用来估定呼吸阻力负荷的感觉量公式 F~k(u_i)=(1/t)(sum from j=1 to m (V_jy_(ij)~kw_j/sum from j=1 to m (y_(ij)~kw_j)。通过对37名被试在不同负荷时相下各种外加阻力负荷所致的感觉进行测试,揭示了如下一些基本事实:呼吸阻力负荷与其感觉间的心理物理函数遵循幂定律;三种呼吸阻力时相下的呼吸阻力感觉体验有显著差异,但是统计检验表明它们的感觉增长速度差异不显著;本实验还找出了与各感觉类别等级相应的阻力负荷值,可供制订防护装置阻力标准参考;最后还比较与讨论了有关的方法学问题。     

Evidence-based practice in psychology

The evidence-based practice movement has become an important feature of health care systems and health care policy. Within this context, the APA 2005 Presidential Task Force on Evidence-Based Practice defines and discusses evidence-based practice in psychology (EBPP). In an integration of science and practice, the Task Force's report describes psychology's fundamental commitment to sophisticated EBPP and takes into account the full range of evidence psychologists and policymakers must consider. Research, clinical expertise, and patient characteristics are all supported as relevant to good outcomes. EBPP promotes effective psychological practice and enhances public health by applying empirically supported principles of psychological assessment, case formulation, therapeutic relationship, and intervention. The report provides a rationale for and expanded discussion of the EBPP policy statement that was developed by the Task Force and adopted as association policy by the APA Council of Representatives in August 2005.     

Cystic Fibrosis Prenatal Screening in Genetic Counseling Practice: Recommendations of the National Society of Genetic Counselors

For over a decade, prenatal screening for cystic fibrosis (CF) has been considered a model for the integration of genetic testing into routine medical practice. Data from pilot studies and public policy discourse have led to recommendations by some professional organizations that CF screening should be offered or made available to pregnant women and their partners, and to couples planning a pregnancy. It is crucial that genetic counselors gain thorough understanding of the complexities of CF and the implications of positive test results, so that they may serve as a reliable, educated referral base and resource for health care providers and their patients. While not all pregnant women will be referred for genetic counseling prior to CF carrier testing, genetic counselors often will be asked to counsel clients after they have a positive test result, or who are found to be at increased risk. Genetic counselors can play an important role in providing accurate and current information as well as support for patients informed decisions. These recommendations were created by a multicenter working group of genetic counselors with expertise in CF and are based on personal clinical experience, review of pertinent English language medical articles, and reports of expert committees. The recommendations should not be construed as dictating an exclusive course of management, nor does the use of such recommendations guarantee a particular outcome. These recommendations do not displace a health care providers professional judgment based on the clinical circumstances of a particular client.
