Researchers and practitioners have questioned how the implementation of a system of care influences the broader context of
children's social services within a community. We examined the impact that the Dawn Project system of care had on children's
services in Marion County, Indiana. A series of semi-structured interviews were conducted in order to gain a broad understanding
of stakeholder perspectives related to how system-level and other community leaders viewed system of care influences. Qualitative
analyses uncovered several common themes including positive impact at the community level, challenges to implementation, and
feelings of ambivalence related to program impact. Results were generally positive and suggested that most respondents saw
core system of care principles beginning to emerge within the community related to the establishment of the care system. In
addition, challenges to implementing the system of care also were uncovered, including some underlying resistance to system-level
changes. Implications from our study highlight the importance of continuously working to enhance strengths and collaboration
among systems, integrate and coordinate across systems and services, and authentically involve families at all levels. 相似文献

Instrumentation is described which permits study of the effects of different forms of visual feedback display on the patterns of fine movement obtained from the extended human index finger when the subject is attempting to keep his finger at a fixed point in space. The task is a compensatory tracking task in which the only source of input to the system is the subject's own finger movement. The effects of increasing the gain (or amplification) of a proportional error signal on the pattern of finger movement was studied. Gains of 1, 2, 4, 10, 20 and 40 were studied with a group of 24 subjects. Increasing the gain of a proportional error signal resulted in a marked improvement in the ability of subjects to maintain their extended finger at a fixed point in space. As the gain of the error signal was increased, the subject's high-amplitude, low frequency errors were reduced, and there was a progressive appearance of high-frequency activity of low-amplitude, more accurately centred about the reference position in space. A total off-target area measure (integrated absolute error) showed marked decrease in scores as the amplification of the error signal was increased from 1 through 10. Beyond this gain there was no appreciable additional improvement in motor control, however no degradation of control was noted to characterize the group performance.
Exploratory studies were undertaken to permit comparison of the effects of increasing the gain of a proportional visual display with the effects of increasing the gain of non-proportional visual and auditory displays. An increase in the dominant-energy frequency was noted as the error signal gain was increased, independent of whether a proportional visual, or non-proportional visual or auditory display was used. This study examined the levels of depression reported by women who had used a domestic violence shelter. Depressive symptoms were assessed three times: immediately after shelter exit, 10 weeks thereafter, and 6 months later. Whereas 83% of the women reported at least mild depression on the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CES-D) scale upon shelter exit, only 58% were depressed 10 weeks later. This did not change at the 6–month follow-up. An ecological, longitudinal model was evaluated to predict battered women's depression 8/12 months postshelter exit. Results of hierarchical regression analyses suggested that, after controlling for previous levels of depression, the women's feelings of powerlessness, experience of abuse, and decreased social support contributed to their depression symptoms. The women's scores on these three variables (feelings of powerlessness, abuse, and social support) at 10 weeks postshelter exit and at 6-month follow-up predicted depression at 6 months. Thus, there were both predictive and concurrent effects for these constructs. Implications for clinical and community interventions are discussed. 相似文献

This research tested the hypothesis that the "freshman 15" may be more fantasy than fact. The "freshman 15" refers to the belief that college students, particularly women, gain an average of 15 pounds during their first year of college. Female college students were weighed during their first month at college and again 6 months later. They also completed measures of self-esteem, body image, locus of control, and self-monitoring. Findings indicated that the majority of women remained the same weight during the first 6 months of college. A favorable body image was related to less weight loss among those who lost weight, but none of the other characteristics were related to weight change. 相似文献
