Witnesses who discuss an event with others often incorporate misinformation encountered during the discussion into their memory of the event. Two experiments were conducted to establish whether this memory conformity also occurs in the context of an interview and whether it is possible to reduce the effect. Participants viewed a crime‐video which they then discussed with a co‐witness. Some participants were warned they may have been exposed to misinformation during the discussion before all were interviewed individually. In Experiment 1, participants made remember/know judgments about each component of their free recall, and in Experiment 2 they were asked to indicate the source of their memories. Co‐witness information was incorporated into participants' testimony, and this effect could not be significantly reduced using warnings and source‐monitoring instructions. Remember/know judgments may be useful in distinguishing ‘real’ memories from false memories. We make some recommendations regarding the interviewing of witnesses. An intermediary enhances out‐group trust and in‐group profit expectation of Chinese but not Australians

In this research, we made a theoretical distinction between direct and intermediary‐mediated trust situations, and conducted a cross‐cultural (Chinese vs. Australians) investment trust game to test the overlooked effects of an intermediary on investors' trust decisions, with respect to how much to invest in and expect from trustees. Compared to situations of direct trust, a nominal intermediary increased the number of Chinese investors expecting in‐group trustees to repay a profit on their investments (Hypothesis 1) and raised their level of investment in out‐group trustees (Hypothesis 2). These results applied to Chinese, but not Australians in support of the proposal that a nominal intermediary would serve as a cue to activate different cultural stereotypes of the functions and meanings of an intermediary with respect to trust and expectation of reciprocity. Coexisting with these culture‐specific effects of an intermediary, the minimal categorisation of people into in‐group and out‐group on trivial grounds leads to a highly significant in‐group favouritism in investment levels of both Chinese and Australians (Hypothesis 3). 相似文献

In this study, we explore the effects of non‐normality and heteroscedasticity when testing the hypothesis that regression lines associated with two independent groups have the same slopes. Our results indicate that some recently proposed methods that allow heteroscedasticity and perform well in extant simulation studies do not perform well for the situation at hand. The effects of adult attachment on emotional empathy were investigated using a sample of master's‐degree level counseling students. Through structural equation modeling, the authors found that the latent attachment dimensions of avoidance and anxiety work in tandem in their effects on empathy. Lower avoidance and higher anxiety were associated with highest levels of empathy. Results are discussed in terms of attachment theory and the wounded healer concept, with implications for counselor trainees, counselor educators, and counselor supervisors. 相似文献

We examined the relationship between suicidal ideation (SI) and the depressed mood, life stress and parenting styles in children. A large‐scale survey was conducted including 5328 children from 65 elementary schools in Taiwan. SI was measured by asking children if any suicidal thoughts had occurred in the previous month. A series of regression models was analysed separately for male and female students. Compared with boys, girls demonstrated a higher proportion of SI. Among boys, SI was significantly associated with a high level of perceived environmental stress (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 2.61), a high degree of depressed mood (aOR = 2.39), authoritative (aOR = 1.72) and authoritarian (aOR = 2.53) parenting styles and two or more life‐stress events (aOR = 1.45). A high level of perceived environmental stress (aOR = 2.09), a high degree of depressed mood (aOR = 2.89) and an authoritarian parenting style (aOR = 1.76) were significantly associated with the SI in girls. Gender‐specific interventions aimed at preventing SI must enhance support systems at school and at home, particularly for students who suffer from a high degree of stress and depressed mood, and are subjected to an authoritarian parenting style. 相似文献

This paper aims to explore the relationship between humans and nature and the implied intimacy, so-call ‘ecophilia,’ in light
of the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty. It is revealed from the Merleau-Pontian view of body and nature that there
may be a more harmonious relationship between humankind and nature than the commonly assumed, and an alternative understanding
of education may thus arise. Following an introduction, this paper falls into three parts: an exploration of the meaning of
nature, the corporeality of the body as central to our encounter with nature and the educational implications. The introduction
argues that central to one’s understanding of nature is one’s understanding of oneself and the world. To some extent, our
current environmental problems are related to a negative understanding of nature. The meaning of nature and our relationship
with it will be elaborated by the exploration of the key significance of body to be found in Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy. It
will be argued that overall, our understanding of the body may be central to reconnecting humankind and nature. Such a re-conceiving
of the part played by the body in our relationship with nature may re-orient education towards a love of nature: ecophilia.

This study examined the relationship between language experience and false memory produced by the DRM paradigm. The word lists
used in Stadler, et al. (Memory & Cognition, 27, 494–500, 1999) were first translated into Chinese. False recall and false
recognition for critical non-presented targets were then tested on a group of Chinese users. The average co-occurrence rate
of the list word and the critical word was calculated based on two large Chinese corpuses. List–level analyses revealed that
the correlation between the American and Taiwanese participants was significant only in false recognition. More importantly,
the co-occurrence rate was significantly correlated with false recall and recognition of Taiwanese participants, and not of
American participants. In addition, the backward association strength based on Nelson et al. (The University of South Florida
word association, rhyme and word fragment norms, 1999) was significantly correlated with false recall of American participants
and not of Taiwanese participants. Results are discussed in terms of the relationship between language experiences and lexical
