Auditory evoked brain responses (AER) were recorded in response to a series of synthesized vowel sounds which varied in formant bandwidth. Multivariate analyses indicated that changes in AER component structure recorded from different scalp regions over both hemispheres varied as a function of different vowel sounds and formant bandwidth. No interhemispheric differences in scalp AER distributions were noted.  相似文献

The cingular cortex of the rat was examined by means of Golgi's rapid impregnation technique, the glyoxylic acid technique for the detection of biogenic amines and a ninhydrin reaction in the octanoic milieu for the detection of GABA. Six interneuron types are described, differing with respects to their dendrite configurations and axon morphology. The noradrenaline innervation shows considerable differences as compared to the dopamine fibre system. GABA-containing neurons of various shapes and sizes are concentrated in the laminae II and III. The findings are discussed in connection with the conception according to the which the Gyrus cinguli as part of the limbic system might play a role in the genesis of psychopathological processes.  相似文献

We provide a unified, theoretical basis on which measures of data reliability may be derived or evaluated, for both quantitative and qualitative data. This approach evaluates reliability as the proportional reduction in loss (PRL) that is attained in a sample by an optimal estimator. The resulting measure is between 0 and 1, linearly related to expected loss, and provides a direct way of contrasting the measured reliability in the sample with the least reliable and most reliable data-generating cases. The PRL measure is a generalization of many of the commonly-used reliability measures.We show how the quantitative measures from generalizability theory can be derived as PRL measures (including Cronbach's alpha and measures proposed by Winer). For categorical data, we develop a new measure for the general case in which each of N judges assigns a subject to one of K categories and show that it is equivalent to a measure proposed by Perreault and Leigh for the case where N is 2.Bruce Cooil is an Associate Professor of Statistics, and Roland T. The present study tested Ellis' (1971) hypothesis that maladjusted emotion is caused by irrational beliefs learned during childhood to some extent from the parents. Students enrolled at the University of Orebro (n=180) completed questionnaires assessing parents' child-rearing practices during the respondent's first sixteen years of childhood as perceived and remembered by the respondent, the respondent's own rationality, and the respondent's own depression. A regression analysis indicated that child-rearing practices characterized of enmeshed relationships between parent and child is indicative of irrational beliefs on behalf of the parents. In turn, this leads to an irrational kind of child-rearing that significantly predicted the child's own rationality as an adult. The child's own rationality in turn significantly predicted the child's own depression. The salience of issues of ‘objectivity’ in the study of religion is presently increasing in the context of enhanced religious conflict, controversy and overt politicization. These issues arise and ramify on various levels: epistemological, ethical, existential and interpersonal. As students of religion are increasingly impelled to ‘become part of their data’, they need to consider whether a value-neutral ‘scientific’ study of religion can remain viable in a period of religious tumult? Feminism, Liberation Theology and concern over the perceived persecution of stigmatized religious minorities (‘cults’) represent three orientations which are currently shaping the sociology of religion in the United States.  相似文献

Behavioral avoidance testing is a substantial addition to self-report questionnaires in the assessment of agoraphobia. However, the tests currently in use have drawbacks and limitations. A multitask behavioral avoidance test (M-BAT) is presented, designed to meet some of these problems. The test was administered to a group of 58 patients and proved to be reliable in terms of internal consistency. Concordance with self-report measures of agoraphobia indicated a high concurrent validity. In comparison with self-report questionnaires, the tests produced a slightly more conservative picture of gains achieved in treatment. Finally, the data revealed that the multitask test was more concordant with other measures of agoraphobia than a single-task test would have been.  相似文献

In Women in Love, Birkin's fulfilment in the relationship with Ursula Brangwen is presented as the result of a struggle to achieve the separation of his self from a devouring mother image. Lawrence's unconscious fantasies concerning the processes contributing to the achievement of this goal are expressed in his depiction of Birkin's strategies. We can distinguish three different strategies: the homoerotic escape, the direct attack on the devouring mother image and the anal erotic self-assurance. We will analyze the devouring mother concept as well as these strategies and check whether the data related in the novel can fit in psychoanalytic formulations of relations and fantasies concerning the separation-individuation process in infancy and early childhood. Finally, we wonder to what extent the eventual relationship of Birkin with Ursula, presented as a fulfilment, can be conceived as a mature sexual love relation.  相似文献

Kindergarten, first-grade, and second-grade children (5, 6, and 7 years of age, respectively) performed a Luria-type verbal control task in which motor responses are initiated to positive stimuli and inhibited to negative stimuli. The task was performed by motor responding only and verbal self-directed motor responding, with these conditions reversed in sequence for one half of each grade group. Although motor responding and verbal-motor responding by the two younger groups were generally poor, their performance equalled that of the second graders when the verbalizing condition followed the silent, motor-only condition. For these children, verbalizing appeared to constitute a second task which interfered with motor responding. Prior practice on motor-only responding, however, facilitated subsequent, concurrent performance of the two tasks. No interference or practice effects were found for the second graders. The results suggested that self-instructional training programs are likely to be successful when adequate verbal-motor coordination can be assumed or when the motor response is within the child's repertoire.  相似文献

Parental involvement in planning and placement for 20 children initially referred for special education is described in light of the PL 94-142 requirements for informed parental consent. The pattern of notification and parental involvement in the planning and placement team in four elementary schools is described, and the level of parental understanding for four components of the special education decision (eligibility, placement, program goals, and review date) is examined. Comparisons indicate that parent's versions of each decision component were clear and accurate no more than 50% of the time for any of the four components, even though parents were present at the team meeting where these decisions were rendered. The highest accuracy in parental reports was for the placement decision, while unclear or erroneous versions of decisions regarding eligibility, program goals, and review date were even more frequent. Results are interpreted in light of the amount of change demanded of local school systems to insure that parents are giving informed consent for special education planning and placement decisions.  相似文献

Due process provisions are intended to insure that special education placement and programming decisions are fair. However, educators should address the issue of whether those decisions are properly implemented. This paper explores how placement decisions are communicated to the teachers and support personnel who are responsible for implementing students' special education programs. The communication network used by planning teams was characterized as informal; most information was communicated orally by many different planning team members. The results were discussed in the context of whether the messages provided to program implementers were consistent and clear.  相似文献
