There is variability in the extent to which adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) exhibit social impairment, as the same diagnosis does not necessarily entail impairment in the same area(s) of functioning. The current study entailed a cross-sectional examination of enhancers to healthy social functioning and risk factors to parent- and self-rated social impairment in 324 middle school youth (ages 10–14 years) with ADHD. A series of binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to evaluate a risk-resilience model for social functioning, including testing compensatory (i.e., main; buffering) and protective (i.e., interaction) effects of enhancers in the presence of identified risk factors. Youth conduct problems, youth depression, and negative parenting emerged as risk factors. Self-rated social acceptance, activity participation (breadth and intensity), and parent involvement were enhancers of healthy social functioning. Of these enhancers, activity participation (breadth and intensity) and parent involvement showed buffering effects against the negative impact of the risk factors on social functioning. None of the enhancers displayed protective effects. The findings of this study enhance our understanding of the social functioning of young adolescents with ADHD, who comprise an understudied population relative to younger children with similar problems. 相似文献

Habituation in fantasy-induced sexual arousal was assessed by measuring penile circumference and subjective arousal while men engaged in structured sexual fantasy over eight trials, each lasting 2 nun. Arousal levels were higher for men with vivid imagery than for men with non-vivid imagery, but within each group there was no reduction in the level of either physiological or subjective sexual arousal over trials. This result was found not only when Ss engaged in exactly the same fantasy on every trial, but when the erotic strength of fantasy was constant (as established by independent ratings) and the theme of the fantasy varied from trial to trial. In a second experiment 36 trials, each involving 2 min of structured fantasy on a fixed theme, were given. There was again no evidence of habituation in either physiological or subjective arousal. This experiment examined children's and undergraduates' verbal and nonverbal deceptive behavior, and the extent to which their truths and lies could be correctly classified by paying attention to these responses. Participants (N= 196) aged 5–6, 10–11, and 14–15, as well as university undergraduates, participated in an erasing the blackboard event, and told the truth or lied about the event afterwards. Nonverbal and verbal responses were coded, the latter with Criteria‐Based Content Analysis and Reality Monitoring. Although children and undergraduates demonstrated different behaviors (for example, the children obtained lower CBCA scores and made more movements), actual cues to deceit were remarkably similar across different age groups (for example, both 5–6‐year‐olds and undergraduates obtained lower CBCA scores and made fewer movements while lying). A combination of verbal and nonverbal lie detection methods resulted in more correct classifications of liars and truth tellers than the verbal and nonverbal lie detection methods individually, with the combined method obtaining hit rates as high as 88%. 相似文献

Quasi-experimental evaluation methods promised to provide a way of testing and improving solutions to social problems. These
methods have been found wanting. Alternative approaches, including “pragmatic evaluation,” “naturalistic evaluation,” and
“pluralist evaluation” are also shown to be unsatisfactory. The initial promise of the evaluation movement has been disappointed.
Realistic evaluation is advocated as an alternative to existing forms of evaluation. It is rooted in some European traditions
in epistemology, ontology, and social theory. It offers a framework within which rigorous outcome evaluations can be undertaken
with results that can inform policy and practice.
