The purpose of this study was to examine the predictive validity of a teacher nomination procedure for identifying at- risk children. Two hundred and twenty-five children were nominated by their teachers as well- adjusted (n= 75), socially withdrawn (n=76), or socially aggressive (n=74) during the fourth grade. Five years later, 198 of these children (88%) were located and their adjustment evaluated. Significant differences among the nominated children were found on a variety of measures, including academic grades, sociometric status, and social behavior. In addition, differences in school dropout and delinquent offenses were noted. Results are discussed in terms of the validity of teacher nomination procedures and their utility in identifying at- risk youth. 相似文献

The use of facilitated communication with individuals with autism has generated considerable controversy over the past several years. Only recently has research begun appearing which examines the procedure using reasonable scientific controls to establish the validity of this form of communication. The present study assessed the validity of facilitated communication and evaluated the effects of facilitator influence with seven individuals with autism and mental retardation. Three individuals showed clear evidence of facilitator influence, another three showed no such influence, and one subject performed at chance levels. A follow-up session with the three subjects who showed no facilitator influence demonstrated that they also showed no unexpected language competence compared to their measured IQ and to assessment under standard conditions. Results are discussed in terms of significance for facilitated communication in general and in terms of the utility of the methodology as a means of demonstrating language competence or facilitator influence. 相似文献

In this study, school district superintendents were asked to make personnel decisions that involved potential domestic conflicts. Sex-role stereotypes or sex bias were reflected in the respondents' choices in the following situations: (1) A male was more likely than a female to be selected for a job requiring travel; (2) when an employee's spouse's job required a move, the superintendents were less likely to attempt to influence a female employee to remain and more likely to try to find a female spouse a local job; (3) a female who expressed family priorities over job responsibilities was less likely to be promoted than a male who expressed an identical commitment; (4) a male's request for a leave of absence for child care was considered more appropriate and was more likely to be approved with pay than a female's identical request. Lack of sex-role stereotyping was evidenced by the responses to a case involving the social support of an administrator's spouse and in the tendency to base an administrator's promotion on past performance. 相似文献

For decades, day–night patterns in behaviour have been investigated by asking people about their sleep–wake timing, their diurnal activity patterns, and their sleep duration. We demonstrate that the increasing digitalization of lifestyle offers new possibilities for research to investigate day–night patterns and related traits with the help of behavioural data. Using smartphone sensing, we collected in vivo data from 597 participants across several weeks and extracted behavioural day–night pattern indicators. Using this data, we explored three popular research topics. First, we focused on individual differences in day–night patterns by investigating whether ‘morning larks’ and ‘night owls’ manifest in smartphone-sensed behavioural indicators. Second, we examined whether personality traits are related to day–night patterns. Finally, exploring social jetlag, we investigated whether traits and work weekly day–night behaviours influence day–night patterns on weekends. Our findings highlight that behavioural data play an essential role in understanding daily routines and their relations to personality traits. We discuss how psychological research can integrate new behavioural approaches to study personality. 相似文献

Das Symptom Schwindel wird in der klinischen Praxis organisch meist regelrecht durch die zuständige Fachrichtung abgeklärt. Ein möglicher psychiatrischer Impact im Symptom Schwindel wird oft übersehen und somit vernachlässigt. Die Folge ist ein Persistieren und Chronifizieren einer Symptomatik, die unter dem Namen phobischer Schwindel bekannt ist. Neuere Begriffe wie die somatische Symptomstörung des DSM‑5 und der heute stigmatisierende Begriff des somatoformen Schwindels werden in diesem Fallbericht klinisch und theoretisch umrissen. Sofern der phobische Schwindel richtig diagnostiziert wird, kann im Rahmen eines Gesamtbehandlungsplanes unter Einbeziehen von Physiotherapie, dem Erlernen von Angstbewältigungsstrategien und adäquater Aufklärung und Information des Betroffenen konkret an Beschwerden gearbeitet werden. Voraussetzung dafür ist ein interdisziplinäres Denken beim behandelnden Arzt. Im Fallbericht geht es um einen älteren Patienten, der neben schwerwiegenden körperlichen Ursachen für Schwindelsymptome letztlich einen phobischen Schwindel bietet, der nach der richtigen Diagnosestellung umfassend behandelt werden kann. 相似文献

Spatial learning and memory is preserved in rats after early development in a microgravity environment 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This study evaluated the cognitive mapping abilities of rats that spent part of their early development in a microgravity environment. Litters of male and female Sprague-Dawley rat pups were launched into space aboard the National Aeronautics and Space Administration space shuttle Columbia on postnatal day 8 or 14 and remained in space for 16 days. These animals were designated as FLT groups. Two age-matched control groups remained on Earth: those in standard vivarium housing (VIV) and those in housing identical to that aboard the shuttle (AGC). On return to Earth, animals were tested in three different tasks that measure spatial learning ability, the Morris water maze (MWM), and a modified version of the radial arm maze (RAM). Animals were also tested in an open field apparatus to measure general activity and exploratory activity. Performance and search strategies were evaluated in each of these tasks using an automated tracking system. Despite the dramatic differences in early experience, there were remarkably few differences between the FLT groups and their Earth-bound controls in these tasks. FLT animals learned the MWM and RAM as quickly as did controls. Evaluation of search patterns suggested subtle differences in patterns of exploration and in the strategies used to solve the tasks during the first few days of testing, but these differences normalized rapidly. Together, these data suggest that development in an environment without gravity has minimal long-term impact on spatial learning and memory abilities. When cued with generic happy and sad words, depressed individuals have been found to articulate contextually impoverished memories of autobiographical events. Although this pattern predicts a worse symptomatic course of disorder in some depressed samples, longitudinal findings with the cue-word paradigm are inconsistent. To address the etiological significance of autobiographical memories outside the cue-word paradigm, the authors used an idiographic interview in which depressed participants generated memories of their happiest and saddest lifetime events. Each memory was coded for detail and emotional intensity. At a 1-year follow-up, participants' levels of depressive symptoms were reassessed. Lower emotional intensity of saddest memories predicted higher levels of depressive symptoms at follow-up. Several implications for understanding sadness and emotional disclosure in depression are discussed. 相似文献
