Five 14(1/2)- to 19(1/2)-month-old infants were trained to lever press for snacks on small fixed ratio schedules of reinforcement. Within four to nine sessions, responding under FR 10 was established for four subjects and FR 15 for the other. Each subject's last session revealed behavioral patterns similar to animal and human FR trained subjects-a high and constant ratio rate, mixed with a zero rate following reinforcements. Deviations were mostly in the form of prolonged and variable post-reinforcement pauses. These and other irregularities were probably due to the limited deprivation conditions and improper training procedures in which the ratio (for two subjects) was ascended too early and too quickly. Extinction was instituted during the last session. The degree to which extinction performance matched that of other organisms depended upon how stable and "ratio-like" performance was during conditioning.  相似文献

Recall of auditory narrative material was measured under three conditions of presentation. These were a single source condition with material from one speaker, a four source fixed sequence condition with material from four speakers in a fixed sequence of 3-sec. lengths, and a four source random condition with material from four speakers in a random sequence of 3-sec. lengths. Recall was better for the single source condition than for the four source conditions. No significant difference was found between the fixed and random sequential presentations. Results are discussed in terms of the attentional behaviors involved in the tasks.  相似文献

Normal adult males and females looked at a series of photographs containing either a single adult male or female. Ss viewed each picture for as long as they wished. Assuming that measures of the duration of attention would reflect Ss attraction for the opposite sex, it was hypothesized that Ss would spend relatively more time viewing photographs of the opposite sex. The results failed to support the hypothesis. Although males did not differentially attend to the stimuli, females looked significantly longer at the females than they did at the males. The results were interpreted in terms of the “overt sexual content” of the stimuli and socially conditioned attentiveness and inattentiveness.  相似文献

This paper examines the major problems and issues in implementing planned organizational change. It highlights the current debates in the literature on change and itemizes the most important factors which need to be considered by these responsible for implementing change. However, in addition the paper argues that while this provides an initial direction in attempting to bring about organizational change there are, nevertheless, limitations in the literature. The paper overcomes these by developing a broader eight steps model based on case study examples which should provide those responsible for change with a realistic framework of implementation.  相似文献

Humility training is conceptualized as an appropriate treatment for persons who occasionally describe themselves, but are most frequently described by others as overbearing, insensitive and deceitful. One hundred and nine employees working in clerical jobs in an insurance company participated in a concurrent criterion-related validity study. The employees were administered the Hogan Personality Inventory which consists of six basic scales and six occupational scales. Five criterion measures were collected: a within-department forced quintile distribution by the manager, and managerial ratings of the job factors of job knowledge, interpersonal skills, organization, and overall performance. The twelve test scores were correlated with each of the five criterion measures. The results revealed the Adjustment, Clerical Aptitude and Managerial Potential scales correlated significantly (p<.05) with each of the five criteria, while the Service Orientation scale correlated significantly with three of the five criteria. The results were discussed in the context of using personality scales to forecast job performance in the insurance industry.  相似文献

A case study of a young woman who was following a complex bulimic chain is described. Her emotional-behavioral sequence involved (1) feeling upset, (2) feeling more upset and taking a high dose of laxatives, (3) hinging, (4) taking additional laxatives, (5) feeling depressed, guilty, and angry, and then (6) starving herself for days on end. This paper lists the selfdefeating cognitions mediating the above sequence of emotions and behaviors and reports on a successful disputation of them through a Rational-Emotive Therapy approach. She resumed a normal eating pattern; her menstrual cycle returned in 2 months after having been absent for 13 months; and at followup, 15 months after termination of therapy, disclosed normal weight with no regression to any bulimic behavior. The case study concludes with preliminary notes on a cognitive-behavioral analysis of eating disorders. A model for eating disorders is proposed based upon the study and treatment of other selfindulgent disorders.Paul J. This study examined two separate, but potentially interactive, influences on depressive self-evaluation: social context and perceptions of task difficulty. First, it was hypothesized that, if negative self-evaluations of depressed individuals are motivated by a desire to elicit attention and sympathy from others, depressed subjects should evaluate themselves more negatively than nondepressed subjects in a public setting, but not when they make self-evaluative judgments in private. Second, it was hypothesized that negative self-evaluation results from a bias to perceive tasks as being intrinsically easy, i.e., if a task is easy, a given score would be evaluated more poorly than if the task were difficult. It was found that the self-evaluations of depressed subjects were influenced by the social context, but not always in a negative direction. Depressed subjects did not differ from nondepressed subjects when performance evaluations were made in private. In a public condition, depressed subjects evaluated themselves more negatively than nondepressed subjects following an easy task, but evaluated themselves more positively following a difficult task. Depressed subjects did not evidence a bias to perceive tasks as being intrinsically easy. Depressed subjects did rate the tasks to be more difficult for themselves than they thought they would be for others and this expectancy was predictive of negative self-evaluation. These results were discussed in terms of alternative self-presentation motives and theories of social cognition.
