Shapiro (Philos Q 61:320–342, 2011) argues that, if we are deflationists about truth, we should be deflationists about logical consequence. Like the truth predicate, he claims, the logical consequence predicate is merely a device of generalisation and more substantial characterisation, e.g. proof- or model-theoretic, is mistaken. Children with different types of learning disabilities are thought to be at risk for specific profiles of behavior problems. This study sought to determine if learning disabilities are related to behavioral adjustment specifically in children with Tourette's syndrome (TS). We examined the Child Behavior Checklist (CBC) profiles of 61 children with TS who were between the ages of 6 and 18 years. The children were classified into one of three subtypes of learning disabilities or a nondisabled control group, based on performance on the Wide Range Achievement Test-Revised. Children with learning disabilities displayed higher scale elevations on the CBC than did controls, but not after controlling for the presence of attention deficit disorder. The results are inconsistent with previous research on the behavioral adjustment of subtypes of learning disabilities. Thus, the expression of learning disabilities may be idiosyncratic in children with discrete neuropsychiatric disorders such as TS. 相似文献

Six client/therapist dyads (three therapists each working with two clients) were studied to determine how the real relationship unfolds over the course of time-limited treatment and how this unfolding relates to the development of the client/therapist working alliance, client transference, and therapist countertransference. We also examined how these indices of the relationship fluctuate as a function of treatment outcome. Results indicate that in general for all six dyads, therapists’ and clients’ ratings of the real relationship and working alliance were strong throughout treatment. However, patterns of real relationship and working alliance over the course of treatment varied between dyads categorized as more vs. less successful. Therapists’ countertransference was low, as was client transference, but differences in ratings were evident when the dyads were classified by outcome. 相似文献

Using insights gleaned from the sociology of childhood to challenge prevailing conceptualizations of children as emotionally ‘incomplete’ or ‘immature’ in relation to adults, this study demonstrates the interactive nature of the social order within primary schools and the centrality of emotional learning to children's everyday lives and relationships. Analysis of the qualitative data shows how children recognize the role of emotional learning in sustaining a balanced and ‘healthy’ lifestyle in relation to their self-identity, particularly through the importance of enlisting and sustaining friendships as protection across the public/private divide and the institutional order of school life. Within the field of the psychology of prayer, there has been a growing interest in empirical studies concerned with the analysis of the content of ordinary people's private prayers, with a view to providing a more nuanced understanding of the psychological correlates of prayer among those who engage in the activity. One research tradition has focused on the content analysis of intercessory prayer requests left in church-related settings, and it is within this context that the present study is located, examining 417 intercessory prayer requests, collected on the streets by bishops in the Church of England as part of the 2011 “Say One for Me” Lent Prayer initiative. The study was informed by the constructs of implicit religion and ordinary theology, and employed ap Siôn's general analytical framework for intercessory prayer requests. Three types of implicit religion were found to be present in the prayer content: societal consensus, the source of explicit religion, and the effect of explicit religion, and the significance of these results is discussed. 相似文献
